There was a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight, but when it was still practically 80 outside in February, was a little rain really going to ruin it?

It might even wash some of the glitter away. Well, probably not. No power on Earth was strong enough to wash glitter away. More than half of spring break was over, Fandom. Get out there and make some memories! Or drink-fueled regrets. Rio could accomodate either.

Anakin glanced over from his lounge chair and offered the girl a distracted wave. "I'm not bothering you, am I?"

IT WAS A PERFECTLY INNOCENT QUESTION, OKAY?

Hanna turned toward where that voice was coming from and immediately froze. What, how, what? Ian Thomas was in Rio? But that was impossible?!

"You..." she said, her eyes growing wide with fear and paranoia. "But....how..."

Sorry Anakin. Major case of mistaken identity here.

And now Anakin's eyes went wide, but with confusion, when he caught a sense of the emotions coming off her.

"But --" He shook his head. "Is everything okay? What's wrong?"

"No, you shouldn't be here," Hanna said, trying not to spaz. It might not be working. "Are you a ghost? Haunting by the pool is kinda tacky, don't you think?"

Her comment might have been snarky, but there was real fear in her voice.

"Why shouldn't I be here?" Anakin started to project calm toward her in the Force, but reconsidered and reined himself in. "I'm not -- I'm a student! I signed up for this trip!"

Hanna blinked. She had not expected that response. "You're a student? Seriously? You expect me to believe that?"

Though she was starting to really think about it more. He was clearly younger. Maybe he was from another dimension and has yet to become totally creepy Ian.

"Why wouldn't you?" asked Anakin, genuinely confused. "It's not like I'm --"

Oh, right, one of those Fandom things.

"I'm not someone you know . . . am I?"

"Apparently we haven't met yet where you're from," she deduced. Wrongly, of course. "You are Ian, right? Before you go evil?"

Oh Hanna. At least she was calmer now? Sorta?

Anakin couldn't help looking alarmed for a moment when he caught 'before you go evil.'

. . . if he did, was he going to change his name?

Great. Bad enough he shared his name with someone who'd gone evil, apparently he also shared his face with someone else who had.

"I don't know anyone named Ian. My name's Anakin," he explained, cautiously.

Hanna frowned. "You mean, like, my former Ethics teacher?"

Oh crap.

Anakin groaned.

Stop it, Anakin, you should know by now it's going to keep coming down to that.

"Yes, like that," he said a bit sulkily. "He's my grandfather."

"And I totally insulted you," Hanna said, facepalming. "I am so so so sorry! I really thought you were someone else. Someone I knew back home."

Someone who tried to murder one of her best friends. She kept that to herself, though. "But you're not like him at all. I can tell now that I'm not being a total spaz."

Anakin was privately feeling a little stupid himself, for not catching on sooner; he made a mental note to remember these sorts of things next time.

"No, it's okay." He scrubbed a hand through his hair and managed to make it look even more unruly than it already did. "I should've remembered stuff like this happens h--"

They weren't in Fandom at the moment.

"With people from this school," he concluded. "I didn't mean to scare you." With his face. Oops. "Sorry."

"No need to be sorry," Hanna said sincerely, offering a small smile. "I'm guessing this kind of thing happens, especially where we're going to school, huh?"

"Anyway, nice to meet you. Anakin." She made sure to say his rightful name. "I'm Hanna, and I'm not usually so paranoid."

Yes she was. Lately.

"Apparently." He managed a smile of his own in response. "Hi, Hanna. It's okay; I've had worse introductions to people before."
