Haddyn: 200 years in the Future (Day Two)

By the time Mel, Zuko and Erin get back to the Watcher libary, it is in the wee hours of the morning.

Mel looked tired as all beat out but now she knew her sister was alive and if luck held out she'd be getting her brother back by the end of the day.

What she didn't realize is that her plans were about to be torn to shreds.

"You're not worried?" Harth asked. "What about the..."

Harth shook his hands in the air and imitated Dawn from earlier.

"NO! I'LL KILL YOU MYSELF!"

"I've got more perspective now," she decided, pretending a bravado she so didn't feel. "You're nothing but a poser."

"Perspective," Harth chuckled as she sat down in front of Dawn. "You know it's funny... we actually have a lot in common. We're both siblings of slayers who totally misunderstand or underestimate what we could have done. Of course I'm evil now and lack a soul and well... you're just not evil."

"You and me. Both lacking of the soul," Harth replied. "I mean sure they did a great job of the whole building of you and whatnot but not even monks can create a soul."

"I have a soul." Although there wasn't definitive proof of that, when she thought about it. "Those were some pretty powerful monks."

"Ever hear of a golem?" Harth asked. "It walks, it talks and can be almost exactly human. Hell some even have feelings," Harth lectured. "That's about as good as magic can make things. As for a soul? No one can make that. I don't care how power they are."

Of course she'd heard of golems. "I have free will. I can make decisions for myself and determine the course of my own destiny. I love someone more than my own life. I don't know I got it, but it's mine."

Her words were confident, but her bearing and face weren't.

"But inside you're just as hollow as a Malibu Stacy doll," Harth commented. "Just a shell for little ball of energy."

Malibu Stacy dolls weren't actually hollow, not that she was going to mention that. "Just because you're a weak, shallow shell doesn't make me one. Don't talk about things you can't understand."

"You're just a petty thief who throws herself into trouble just to get attention from a sister who could care less," Harth countered calmly. "I'm no longer just a scared little kid that hid in his sister's shadow. I'm much more than that now. It's just too bad that by tomorrow you'll never have that chance to do it for yourself.

"Wow, are your books out of date," Dawn shook her head, "By at least a year. You should really move into the new era. News flash, He Who Leads: I'm. Not. That. Girl. What I am is hugely embarrassed for you. I mean, you're stuck as a fourteen year old geek forever and always, right? Talk about suck."

Harth glared at Dawn and launched a punch to her head.

Dawn was handcuffed, hungry, thirsty, and pretty close to terrified. She kicked out and struggled, but the punch landed squarely on her temple, knocking her out instantly.
