Nadia wandered about the main room of the Air and ~~Space~~ Flight museum, staring straight up the whole way. She was munching absently on some freeze dried ice cream and wondering just how, exactly, anyone came up with the idea that the contraptions hanging from the ceiling could fly.

Not that she doubted that they could, she was just impressed by the creativity of the inventors.

Jaye's staring up at the ceiling, too.

"I wonder if any of those ever fell on someone," she says.

Nadia winced slightly. "That's a cheery thought." She held out her snack to Jaye. "Freeze-dried space ice cream?"

Somehow, she manages to say it like it's not a completely bizarre, disgusting concept ~~because her mun has fond memories of freeze dried space ice cream based sugar rushes at the Air and Space Museum, dammit!~~

"Oh, no, thanks. I had like, two of those already," she says. "It's like crack. You get near that stuff and have to try it. I don't know what it is."

Nadia popped a piece into her mouth. "Maybe the way it melts into goop in your mouth?" She looked around. "I had no idea there were so many different kinds of planes."

"I know. I didn't know there was anything more to 'em than 'I have wings and I don't crash.' Usually."

"You'd think they wouldn't need anything more than that."

Jaye considers this, and nods thoughtfully. "In-flight peanuts."

"Not if you're allergic to peanuts," Nadia tilted her head. "And on my last flight? We got pretzels."

"I got Chex Mix once," she says, making a face. "What's up with that?"

"One of the mysteries of aviation." Nadia doesn't know what Chex Mix is, but from the look on Jaye's face, she doesn't want to.

"I'm starting a petition when we get home," she says. "Ooh! Maybe I should ask Professor Lyman, since we're, you know. Here."

"Does he teach petitioning, or something?"

Yeah, Nadia is still ignorant about half the people at school. What of it?

"He teaches the... like... historical smart stuff," she says. "Government! That's it. I'm not actually in any of his classes."

"How much can there be to learn? America has had the same government for 200 years. Now if you'd had some bloody military coups or something, then I could see needing a whole class on it. . . ."

"Well, we're kinda like the world's Hollywood. Me, me, me, how can I talk about me some more," she explains.

"And you know, the rest of the world resents you for that, right?"

"I know that," Jaye says. "Tell that to everyone else."

Nadia thought for a moment, still looking up at the planes. "I should hire a ski writer. 'Your country isn't all that'. It'd be great. I'd be deported, but it would be great."

Jaye laughs. "Worth it?"

Nadia shrugs. "I think I should probably graduate first."
