Excitement woke Isabel up even before the alarm went off. Despite the prudish motel manager, last night had been as much fun as she'd thought it would be. And today would only be better. She looked at the clock, there was still time before they needed to be out the door in order to be on time for their rafting trip on part of the Gauley River. Getting carefully to her feet, Isabel smiled at a sleeping Sam and Parker as she made her way to the bathroom to dress for the day. She felt bad about the messed up sleeping arrangements. Hopefully tonight would be better.

Up early, Isabel ordered some coffee and an omlette while she flipped through a copy of People she'd found on the counter.

"Good morning, Isabel," Sam yawned as she slid into the booth opposite Isabel. "Sleep well?"

She ordered coffee, juice, pancakes, and bacon, figuring she'd need the carbs for energy that day.

Parker snorted at the cover, muttered "Duh," under her breath and smiled when her order came. "Hope you guys slept okay last night."

Cedric finally comes downstairs a little late but whatever! and finds his group, taking a seat and yawning.

Jack smiled as Cedric sat next to him, and leaned over to wrap an arm around his shoulders, pulling him close to give him a quick kiss. "Good morning. You were out like a light last night. You sleep well?"

Greg finally slouched down to breakfast, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "I need caffeine," he whined, and then managed to order coffee and pancakes.

Parker cocked an eyebrow at him, and intercepted the coffee. "You really, really don't need that."

On the river

The water flow was such that they were putting in right at the top of the Upper Gauley. On the way to the launch site, Bob, their totally modable guide had given a talk about handling the boat, river safety and what to do if they fell in. Because it was summer, the water level wasn't quite as high. So some of those rapids listed as Class V+ were more likely to be categorized as a Class III or IV. Still, it didn't keep Isabel from bouncing with excitement as the raft set off into the river.

At the Campsite

The tents are set up and there's still time before Bob finishes making dinner. Swim in the river, go for a walk, or find something else to do.

The river's a little too cool for swimming, but that doesn't mean it's not nice to sit next to it and enjoy the view while she waits for dinner.

It's a nice night out and since he'd already gotten wet earlier, Cedric takes this time to walk around the campsite and think quietly.

Jarod's crouched down next to the fire, quizzing Bob on everything he knows about rafting, camping, and search and rescue.

Clearly, this is news to all.

But that would explain why a decidedly Greg-shaped person flung himself off a high point near a deep pool in the river, whooping loudly as he dove clumsily.

Parker's half-dozing by this point, tired from the day, but happy. "Do we have marshmellows?"

Jack looked around, considering the layout, then settled on the ground, leaning against one of the logs conveniently placed around the campfire.

They were long logs, and he was right in the middle, so there was plenty of room on either side, if people wanted to sit there.
