West Virginia, Saturday

Excitement woke Isabel up even before the alarm went off. Despite the prudish motel manager, last night had been as much fun as she'd thought it would be. And today would only be better. She looked at the clock, there was still time before they needed to be out the door in order to be on time for their rafting trip on part of the Gauley River. Getting carefully to her feet, Isabel smiled at a sleeping Sam and Parker as she made her way to the bathroom to dress for the day. She felt bad about the messed up sleeping arrangements. Hopefully tonight would be better.

"Good morning, Isabel," Sam yawned as she slid into the booth opposite Isabel. "Sleep well?"

She ordered coffee, juice, pancakes, and bacon, figuring she'd need the carbs for energy that day.

Sam shrugged. "Not really. Talked to Parker for a while, then crashed hard. Greg's definitely interesting," she grinned. "I'm waiting for Parker to strangle him, which is kind of funny, since her boyfriend's almost as bad."

"It is," Sam grinned. "So, ready for today? I dreamed about rafting last night."

"Mostly fishing people out," Sam laughed as she fixed her coffee. "I went once, and had a great time. People will fall out of the raft--all we have to do is make sure they get back in."

"Do you think I should tie Greg and Cedric to the raft?" Sam asked, a bit worried.

"No one gets left behind," Sam grinned back. "Ah, warming up by a campfire. One of the best things about camping. Well, that, and dry socks."

"If nothing else, you and Parker and Jack and I should be able to get the raft going where it needs to go."

Parker yawned as she joined them, looking sleepy. "Good morning. Coffeeeee." She sighed and took a big mug while contemplating the menu. "Yay."

"Did you sleep at all, Parker?" Sam had heard the door close when Parker came back into the room last night, but hadn't checked the clock.

Parker looked guilty. "I did, I just wasn't sleepy for a while. Six hours is good." She ordered bacon and a bagel, and a fruit plate. "Jack and I both couldn't sleep. I hope I didn't wake you up, coming back in."

Parker snorted at the cover, muttered "Duh," under her breath and smiled when her order came. "Hope you guys slept okay last night."

"A little bit, but I'm a light sleeper," Sam shrugged, pouring syrup on her pancakes, trying not to be worried. "Is Jack okay? Are you?"

"Oh, fine. We do this sometimes, since we're both occasional insomniacs. Just stay up and talk about anything. Greg was wired, so Jack caught part of the mood, and it always takes me forever to relax in a new place." Parker looked up from her food, suddenly feeling odd about Jack's relationships, and her friendship with him for the first time. "It wasn't anything he couldn't talk to you guys about. Really. We're just used to doing this. That's okay. Right?"
