Everywhere, Starting At the Remains of Fandom, Sunday Night

That small purple orb had troubled the Nothing for too long.

It had worked at it patiently for two days, but finally it was gaining a foothold. Nothingness slid straight through it and wiped it away, gobbling it up--

--and then suddenly, it reappeared. Not only that, but the wall that held its entrance slowly cobbled back into being. Then the hallway. And then the rest of the school building. This wave of creation pushed back against the clouds, and soon they slid away; millions of miles away and many years back and forth in time, similar events happened.

They focused on one person, or a couple of people, or a building, and then fanned outward, touching the minds of newly recreated people and gaining strength from their memories. REMEMBER, said a thousand walls and papers and floors and signs and Portalocity offices.

With each memory, life restored itself.

It might take all night - it had taken months to get to this point. But come morning, the multiverse would be put to rights, only a little different than before.

When Spider-Man woke up, a puppy was sitting on his chest, licking his mask.

"What the hell was that?" he asked no one... well, maybe he was asking the puppy. "You didn't see what made my Spider-Sense go off like that, did you, Adorable Puppy?" The puppy barked. "Yeah, I didn't think so."

Spider-Man grabbed the puppy and cradled it in his arms as he got up and walked over to the still unconscious Armless Tiger Man. Spider-Man kicked the puppy thief one last time and said, "Puppy-stealing jerk. Never forget who kicked your butt here."

He turned around and yelled out, "Hey, puppies! Follow me! We're going back to the pet store!" Peter would have to work out what actually happened later. For right now, he'd stick to being a hero to puppies everywhere.

"--ICK! Hello?" The Tick asked. "Guess I lost that connection. EGADS!"

The Tick put his phone in his pocket - yes, he had pockets, deal with it - and grabbed the pizza man by the shoulders. "You're back, pizza man! Could it mean?" The Tick looked back into the apartment. "ARTHUR! You're back! Everything's back!"

"What... what was that, Tick?" Arthur asked.

"That was the end of the world as we know it, chum. But I feel fine!" The Tick answered. "But never mind that right now. I need to make a phone call (http://auroryborealis.livejournal.com/116594.html?thread=6765938#t6765938)."

As Doom returned to his throne room, he considered recent events. The accursed darkness that had swallowed his world whole was gone. Perhaps it took longer for Doom's device to work than anticipated. Bah, no. Doom's calculations were infallible. If the device had been capable of warding off the darkness, it would have in the allotted time. Or perhaps it was merely the strength of Doom's will that frightened the darkness off. It mattered not. Only one thing mattered.

DOOM HAD STARED INTO THE END OF REALITY AND HAD NOT BLINKED.

DOOM. STOOD. VICTORIOUS.

The first thing Nadia noticed was that the phone she was holding to her ear was telling her that if she'd like to make a call, she was going to have to hang up and try again.

Which was a nice trick, considering she was holding a cellphone.

Eric and Sydney were both staring at her like she was a crazy person. "Run from what?" Sydney asked.

Nadia blinked, then glanced over her shoulder to see LA looking just like it always had. She looked back and smiled. "My terrible bowling skills?"

She made a mental note to call Jamie back and let him know she was okay. In the meantime, she had a few gutterballs to throw.

Yes. That was exactly how Yakko's world returned. With Bill Clinton references and everything.

"--h, balls."

"Yes, Mister B? I mean, Your Majesty?"

Edmund turned from the balcony, snapping, "I said balls, not Baldrick. One has an r and a dick in it, which I can understand might be unfam--- Baldrick???!!?"

"Mister B?"

"Sodoff Baldrick?"

"Well, if you insist... you did call me..."

"BALDRICK!!!"

"Mister......Your M--- What're you doi--mmmmph!"

What followed would never be spoken of aloud by any living man.

Because Edmund firmly threatened to execute any man who ever spoke of it aloud. Even Baldrick.

Especially Baldrick.

So Jaye was standing on a street, with people still moving all around right by her, with her eyes squeezed shut.

After a moment, she opened her eyes and peered over her shoulder.

"This is not helping my 'No, I'm not really crazy' thing I'm trying," Jaye said aloud, like talking to herself in public would help either.

Told you it'd be fine, said a voice from inside her purse.

"No, you didn't," she said, cautiously stepping forward where the black clouds had just been. "And Rory's going to kick your ass. Is my car back, too? If my car's still gone, I'm gonna be pissed."

"Well, that worked out better than I thought it would," Jolee noted.

"We're down to only one hole in the Force," Revan said. "You know what this is, right?"

"A lucky break?" Jolee asked. He knew the actual answer. And just by glancing at the map of the area they were in, he knew how it was going to work out. There was a path on the map that seemed just a little unfamiliar to him.

"An opportunity. It's going to take the Sith time to sort out whatever that was. We don't have to make a last stand here," Revan said. "Spread the word. We're leaving just as soon as I have an escape route."

"Sure, make the old man rally the troops. Don't give any consideration to his aching back," Jolee said, making sure to give Revan enough time to find that hidden pass on his own.

As he walked out into the camp, he started talking to himself. "Heh heh heh. I don't know what that was, but it looks like this old man still has a few tricks up his sleeve."

"You knew how that was going to work out, didn't you?" Dick accused.

"I don't have any idea what you're talking about," Batman answered.

"The dark clouds. The disappearances. That was you I sent the message to, wasn't it?" Dick said. "You just pretended to be struggling with a solution because you knew it was going to work out no matter what we did here because you already lived through it."

"Do you really think I'd go to those lengths to keep you from knowing your future?" Batman asked.

"I'm not hearing a 'no,' Bruce," Dick said. "So yeah, I do think you'd hide information that would have given us peace of mind."

"Well, I'm glad to know that you took the message I left the younger Bruce to heart," Dick said, putting his Nightwing mask back on. "I'm out of here. Don't worry, I'm not going to tell Barb and Tim that you knew. They'll figure out how much you lie eventually."

"Were you in the middle of using it for something?"

"Would you like to?"

Hermione almost didn't realize anything had happened. She'd Apparated to London just in time to disappear, so there'd barely been time to even process the blackness reaching up to swallow her before it did. Now it seemed like a long, scary blink.

No one around her on the street seemed to have any idea anything was wrong. They went about their business like they would on any other day.

Hermione was going to take this as a good sign, and decided that regardless, she needed to find Ron and Harry.

It was going to take Aeryn a while to figure out just why it seemed like nothing had happened, like there hadn't just been blackness coming to take all of them. Like it hadn't just taken the rest of the town, though the people visible from the window seemed just fine now.

"What the frell was that?" she finally asked.

"What the frell was what?" asked Talyn.

Nothing like being unwiped out of existence and realizing immediately that you swore too much in front of your kid.

"Ever get the feeling you've thrown a bloody party and no one decided to come?" Mat asked Rand, staring over the horizon at...nothing.

Not the scary sort of blackness nothing there had been a moment ago. Just...nothing. No Dreadlords, no Forsaken, no hordes of Trollocs.

"So Tarmon Gai'don has been cancelled because the other side didn't show up," he concluded. "Wait until I write Arthur about this."

"Postponed, at least," Rand said a bit pompously. "We will fight this yet, Mat."

"But it's not today," Mat replied. "I'm going to find a tavern."

Clark landed on the roof of the Daily Planet building. To his perception, a wall of nothingness had swept over him and then was gone. As far as he could tell, the world was none the worse for wear.

The Celestials had been pleased when their experiment had destroyed itself, leaving only the world of Franklin's creation, but now... now things were coming back, and they had to act quickly. Those who the world had been created to house were shifted back to their original reality easily enough, but as for the rest...

It is believed by some that the world, the entire universe, merely exists as the dream of a sleeping giant. That everyone and everything is simply the figment of the imagination of some greater being's dream state.

It cannot be said if that is true for every universe, but there is one particular universe where that is exactly what had happened. Her name is Ashema, and she has sacrificed her own consciousness, gave it over for the preservation of the other univertse, which will exist within her for all time.

But this is not that story. This is the story of a mutant and a fairy princess who suddenly existed again, and... who in all likelihood owed their friends a few phone calls.

Sophie took a deep breath. And opened her eyes.

"Why are we all up on the roof, again?" Parker whispered loudly.

"Get your arm off me, Hardison," Elliot bitched. A small slap-fight might have occurred.

"We're humoring Sophie," Nate said mildly, eyes twinkling. "Something about seeing the lights?"

Sophie started laughing, and tilted her head backward, sending a thank you! out to whoever had fixed things.

"It's the holiday season. Shouldn't we be enjoying it?" Sophie beamed up at the stars over head. "And God bless us, every one."

Death was feeding her new goldfish when the universe around her righted itself, coming completely back into existence.

As a fan of the complicated multiverse, she was gratified to know she'd been right, that existence was nowhere near an end. Things could go on in their usual happy chaos.

The part of her that was still Didi knew she'd been thought of -- and rejoiced in that too.

Being dead, you tended not to notice things like being blinked out of existence.

For that matter, you tended not to notice when you were blinked back into existence. You know, due to not being alive.

But in a little Buffy was going to wake up gasping in a closed casket under six feet of dirt, and that she was going to notice.

Evie paused, staring around at the Oxford Library, then muttered, "Whew."
She looked down at the book at her hands, then decisively shut it. "You, my friend, are far too accurate to be left with people who can't appreciate you," she told it.

She felt terrible about stealing a work of prophecies, but it was like it was meant to be, wasn't it?

When the Nothing retreated, Romeo and Dojima were still locked in their kiss.

This would have been more romantic if their last stand hadn't been in the lobby of what was now a rather crowded office building. After the third person muttered the Japanese equivalent of Get a room, Romeo finally glanced up to catch his breath and grin. He had no idea what had happened, only that it had happened and was glorious.

"We might have that drink with Arthur, after all."

Charlie dropped her coffee.

"McGee! I've got a story for you!"

Wait. Juts a second ago, they'd all been-- and she'd--

Charlie reached inside herself for her power, and found it was much weaker than usual. She hadn't imagined it.

Something had fixed everything, though.

"On it, boss!"

Of course Tyler hadn't been lucky enough to see the world actually end. He came back into existence sprawled on his couch, the manifesto he'd spent his last few minutes typing open on the laptop before him.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Somehow, though -- and this was his mind remembering that it knew how to be sane -- it didn't bother him that much. He turned off the computer, made a mental note to call Ghanima and let her yell at him for an hour or so, and headed toward the lab. It was time to find Tony.

When the Nothing had rolled over them, Simon and Alisha had been standing outside the building that had previously held his flat, which had by then disappeared along with almost everyone he knew.

And now they were there again, and the dark clouds were gone, and everything was just as it had always been.

Except for a bright blue graffiti on the wall in front of them.

RMMBR, it said.

So they did.

Morrigan hit the roof.

She was not aware of hitting the roof, any more than she was aware that, for a day, she had ceased to exist.

It was another hour before she regained consciousness and managed to sit up, barely repressing the urge to vomit.

"Well, then." Morrigan looked about the roof with a tight smile. "I do not think I shall be trying that again any time soon, for it was most unpleasant."
