The Area Around Þingvallavatn, Wednesday Afternoon & Evening
It might have been Eric, or the squirrels, or the moose, or a very intrepid Danish NPC who had talked the Vikings into this. That was something the Viking women who showed up at the causeway didn't share. To be fair, since they only spoke old Norse, it would've been kind of hard for them to.
But one of them did have a sign that read, somewhat jaggedly, 'Þour'. They had even attempted to squiggle the bottom line of the first character in such a way that it kind of looked like a 't'.
They had planned a tour of the general area and its bounties, as a way to say thank you for all the interesting meat they had managed to procur on the islandÞus thusfar. Past the waterfalls, to the hot springs, to the valley of the AlÞing, Þhingvellir itself-- it was really quite lovely.
Of course, Fandomites could just go to the village and get hopping drunk and maybe start a barfight instead.
God knows that's what the Vikings themselves were planning to do.

Re: Hot Springs
She leaned back against one of the rocks, submerged up to her chin in hot, light blue water. Iceland was cool. She could handle a weird school if it were in Iceland.
Re: Hot Springs
"Taking a swim in Iceland seems to deserve that kind of smart remark so I thought I'd check," he added, mostly joking.
Re: Hot Springs
Re: Hot Springs
No, that wasn't him at all and that was probably obvious. He did his best though. "The water looks like blue milk. Is it supposed to look like that or should I get my eyes checked?"
Re: Hot Springs
Look, she spoke a few dead languages. Just none of them were Ancient Norse.
Re: Hot Springs
It was definitely hot. And his fingers didn't start burning down to the bone so probably not acid. "Well, if it's this hot, I doubt you're going to turn into any kind of ice cream product. I've never seen one of these before. They don't really exist in Seattle. We have...puddles."
Re: Hot Springs
Re: Hot Springs
And he had no intention of joining the spirit world just yet. He'd raise the dead but not join them. "And I didn't bring a suit. I didn't think there'd be a milky blue hot tub around here."
Re: Hot Springs
Re: Hot Springs
It had happened before.
"Canonball in with my clothes on? And I thought that'd just tick you off."
Re: Hot Springs
Re: Hot Springs
Sam thought he might just be that uncoordinated though it wasn't like he did cannonballs into the puddles in Seattle or anything to test that theory. "I don't think that'd be the worst thing I've ever done to my backside anyway."
And Sam regretted the phrasing of that as soon as it came out. He didn't take it back, though. He just grimaced and shook his head at himself.
Re: Hot Springs
Re: Hot Springs
"Fine," he sighed after seeing no real harm in it. If she closed her eyes, he figured he could get in and submerge himself before she got a glimpse of his once shredded and now scarred back (hey, everyone had their insecurities) and he wouldn't freeze his ass off. "Cover your eyes. No peeking. I'm very shy."
He wasn't but it was fun to joke about it sometime.
Re: Hot Springs
"I so wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable," she assured him, grin obvious under her hands. The idea of covering her eyes out in the open was a difficult one, but she'd been there for a while now and hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary. "Watch out. The water's hot."
Re: Hot Springs
"So, I've gotta beware of rocks and the heat now?" he asked, shrugging out of his jacket, shirt and t-shirt fairly easily. They got dropped onto the ground before he spared another look around before putting his his hands anywhere near his pants.
"How did you even manage to get in without injuring yourself? That a skill that comes along with all the other talents you've got?" Sam joked, blowing on his fingers some to warm them up before moving to get down to his boxer shorts.
Re: Hot Springs
She leaned back, cushioning her head on the less than comfortable lava rock. "Remember, if the Vikings can do it, you can."
Re: Hot Springs
Yes, it was definitely hot and he shook his foot off before shaking his head. Just standing there and acting like this was too much for him would get him nowhere. He exhaled and slid in the water, pretty much figuring his entire body was going to be nice and red after this.
"And that wasn't mocking," he added once he'd settled down and avoided rocks, "that was astute observation on my part. It's one of my talents."
Re: Hot Springs
"How astute does the observation have to be to be a talent? You did notice the water was an odd color and everyting."
Re: Hot Springs
"I dunno," he answered, glancing over at her. "I think astute for me would be different than astute for you. Lately, I'm lucky if I remember to put on shoes so noticing that I'm barefoot and about to leave my apartment is astute for me."
He wiggled his toes under the water and shook his head. "No, I'm not that bad. I'm just not used to having to make astute observations. Hadn't been necessary for awhile."
