Backpacking trip: Santa Cruz, Friday

This was it, ladies and gentlemen. The last day of the great Fandom graduates pan-dimensional backpacking trip. At the end of the night, Portalocity would be shipping folks off their separate ways.

Santa Cruz is offering up another light, breezy day, perhaps in consolation (or, more likely, because it's MFing Santa Cruz). Temperatures are in the mid- to upper sixties during the day, dropping into the fifties tonight -- perfect weather for a last hurrah.

Get your partying out now -- soon it's back to real life.

The Hostel

Santa Cruz Hostel. Check out is at noon, but there's storage rooms for your luggage so you don't have to drag it with you all day.

The beach

Day time brings more surfing, swimming and sunbathing opportunities, and as the sun sets, Trucker and his surfing buddies set themselves up with a nice beachy bonfire near the boardwalk -- with all the surfer/hippie trappings.

No one's carding over here, but remember, you still have to travel tonight.

The Boardwalk

Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Up for rocking out? The Boardwalk is featuring a free Blue Oyster Cult concert at 6:30 pm!

The Harbor

Santa Cruz Harbor. Time to get that last minute souvenir shopping in, and the Harbor is a perfect place to do it.

Downtown

As is downtown. Find the slightly less kitschy souvenirs in Santa Cruz's many niche shops and boutiques!

My older sister may have been conceived in the Employees Only shed next to a carousel in a kiddie park. But I've never had this confirmed.
