Various members of the school trip are on a pub crawl... or rather, a hunt for the Watcher's Council, 14 Leicester Square.

They've gotten a tip from a crystal ball, and are looking for a sign.

And possibly? Tweed.

"Oh, they're not that scary," Xander said. Straightening the tie he kind of wished he'd worn. "Just your average everyday ancient powerful group of stuffy guys who know everything there is to know about spooky stuff ever."

"Stuffy guys." Nadia looked down at his faded, somewhat torn hoodie and equally faded and torn jeans. Well, at least his shoes were shiny. He poked out a foot.

Scratch that, his shoes were sort of shiny, but scuffed around the toes and was that mud on the sole? When had they walked through mud?

Walter was going to kill him. "Stuffy guys." He repeated. "No problem at all."

Rory bounced on her toes. "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap. This is worse than meeting with senators or alums. Oh crap. Ohhhh, crap."

A panel on the door slid open and a thin, pale face peered out. "What is your business?" a voice asked. The accent was American, flavored with a bit of upper-class British tone.

Parker stepped forward and gave him an icy smile. "We're a delegation from the United States, interested in consulting the Watcher's Council resources on a matter of grave importance. Tell your supervisor that we need to see someone in charge. Now."

"I am the one in charge at the moment, madam," the man said haughtily. "If you will present your references, I will consider the matter of your admittance."

Xander straightened his collar again and stepped out from behind Parker. "Giles -- I mean, Rupert Giles -- sent us," he answered, after a short cough. His own Giles might not have a lot of clout with the Council at the moment, but the one back in Fandom had something about having to remember to get his name off the lease of this place, right?

"Oh my god, Xander?" Andrew squeaked. "I thought you weren't going to be back until June! Wait, why are you knocking? Did you lose your keys in Zimbabwae?"

"You never told me you went to Zimbabwe," Nadia said, leaning in towards Xander. He frowned. "Where the hell is Zimbabwe?"

"Southern Africa," Rory supplied. "Formerly known as Southern Rhodesia, the Republic of Zimbabwe speaks English as their official language but there's also some scattered Shona, Sindebele, and numerous but minor tribal dialects."

She blushed, looking down. "But I could've just stopped with 'Southern Africa,' huh?"

Nadia blinked. "So it's near Timbuktu, then?"

Geography was not Nadia's strong point.

Rory held up her hands. "Okay, up here," she motioned with her left hand, "is Mali, and ergo, Timbuktu. And down here," she moved her right hand a bit lower, "down by the bottom of the continent, is Zimbabwe."

"An right here?" Pippi pointed to the air in front of Rory.

"Is some great fishing."

Nadia looked at Rory's left hand. He looked at Rory's right hand. They were only a few inches apart. He nodded. "Yeah. So Zimbabwe is near Timbuktu."

"Where I also didn't leave my keys. What with the never having been further out of the U.S than Tijuana until this weekend." Xander ran a hand over his hair. He peered at the face behind the door. "Do we know each other?"

A look of hurt flashed over Andrew's face, quickly replaced by a wary expression. "Are you evil?" he asked Xander.

"Huh? Why would I be evil?" Xander scratched his head. "Also, why would I tell you I was evil if I was, not that I am? Is this the training they're giving you guys these days, just ask them if they're evil and hope they 'fess up?"

Andrew narrowed his eyes. "That's just the first level of detection," he said. "We have highly trained evil, er, detectors in here. And spells. And weapons. So don't think you can come in here if you're evil."

"Oh good," Xander answered, losing a little bit of patience, even though this place was still the stuffy scary bastion of something or other. "Because we're NOT EVIL. We need to do some research to save somebody who's been magically poisoned."

Victor sighed and rolled his eyes. "Here, allow me." He reached under his shirt for the chain, brought his cross out, and held it to Xander's cheek. "This thing is blessed. If he was evil he'd probably have a new tattoo to show the folks. As you can see, he's fine."

"So the demon proves he's not a vampire," Andrew said, rolling his eyes. "Who are you?" he asked Xander. "Because I know Xander Harris and you're no Xander Harris." He looked off in the distance and a dreamy expression crossed his face. "Xander is one of the finest and bravest Watchers the Council has ever had."

Marty looked over at Xander and then back at Andrew. "It's a little hard to explain, but the simple answer is that we're not from your dimension or timeline. However if we don't get your help? It could have serious consequences for our world."
