Atlantis Resort - Saturday Morning & Afternoon [Rooms & Activities]

Early Saturday morning, the island was unexpectedly struck by a bout of rainfall. Right up until noon, water pelted down on the resort, causing staff and tourists alike to gather up anything scattered outside and dragging it back in to relative safety.

By noon, the sun had chased away the clouds, and the temperatures had risen back up to comfortable levels. Atlantis Resort was once again bathed in light - and the guests were strongly encouraged to come back out and enjoy it all.

The rain meant Alex didn't feel at all guilty about sleeping in supremely late. The vacation was nearly over, classes were looming, his goddamn birthday was days away and Alex just wanted to hide from it all for a little while longer.

Summer, having woken up to the rain, decided she'd wait it out for a bit and stay in the room. She was considering ordering room service and wondered if her suite mate would want in.

Much as Griff had been enjoying his days on the beach, his suntanned skin was ready for the break and he opened the balcony doors to the Bahamian morning rain and camped out on his bed with a book. Last chance before going back to the real world, after all.

Kind of peaceful when it was raining and empty. Still managed to be on the warm side. It was good enough for Effy. Could still feel the edges of the effect of the alcohol she'd had last night.

Hadn't gone to bed yet, actually, so standing out in the pelting rain, letting it fall on her face, drip down through her hair and soak her clothes was actually sort of refreshing. More so than the endless sunshine ever was.

If there was one person affected by it raining, it was Hayley. She awoke to getting hit in the face with a couple drops.

"Awwww, jeepers," she mumbled, rolling up into a sitting position.

It possibly made her a poor friend for the fact that, when the rain had started, Hinata had woken up quickly but left Hayley to sleep.

The rain was warm, their blankets would dry, and the ocean was gorgeous with it raining down on it.

"Good morning," she said softly.

"More like wet morning," Hayley said, curling up her legs against her chest. "I thought you were only supposed to have good weather here."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's still warm," she said, smiling slightly. "And look at the ocean--don't you think that's beautiful?"

Hayley looked out at ocean and her grumpiness at being awoken subsided a bit. It really was pretty.

"...I guess that makes up for it," she said, in a hushed tone. "And it was nice enough to wake me up to see it, too."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Did you sleep well before that?" she asked, staring out at the water. "Th-The rain woke me as well."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hayley nodded. "It's been like a dream since I know you're here," Hayley admitted. "Makes it easier to relax. Feels safer, you know?"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad," she said, grinning a bit. "And it was a good idea, to do this. It's been fun."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hayley smiled. Hearing Hinata call something she'd thought up a 'good idea' gave her an odd tingle of pride she rarely felt.

"This trip has been something out of this world," she said, her tone just in awe of everything. "I don't want it to ever end."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Even if the rain keeps up?" she teased, looking up at the sky and getting rain in her face. "I d-don't really want it to end either."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, the rain can end," Hayley said, quickly. "If I stay out here and it keeps raining, I might get sick. And that'd make everything worse, you know?"

She shuddered.

"Actually... maybe I should get inside. Get changed again."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll clean up here," she said lightly. "I won't get sick easily."

Hinata glanced at her. "Th-That way you don't have to worry about it."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks, Hinata," Hayley said, getting to her feet. She smiled warmly at her friend. "You're the best."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
She just shook her head.

"It's no bother," Hinata said, instead. "I'll see you later, alright?"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Later, definitely," Hayley said. She waved goodbye and headed off.

Leda rather enjoyed the beach in the rain.

She was drenched by the time she came upon Hayley. "Did you sleep out here? Cool."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was nice, yeah," Hayley remarked. She was actually on her way back to the hotel at that moment, but of course she stopped to talk to her friend.

"Up until the rain woke me up." She chuckled. "What's shakin' with you?"

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wanted to see the beach in the rain. I kinda like it. It's peaceful. Bordertown's kinda like that when it rains too."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I still wish I coulda seen that place," Hayley said. "It does sound like my kind of town."

And she meant that, too. "Been having a good trip?"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-27 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Leda missed Bordertown. She didn't know if she'd ever see it again. With no magic, it felt too dangerous.

"I think you'd enjoy it. Hopefully you'll get to see it someday. And yeah, I've had a great week. Did you see the dolphins?"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hayley paused.

"...there's dolphins?"

That would be a no.

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh Gods you missed the dolphins?!"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Well how was I supposed to know!" Hayley said, sounding panicked. She was thinking Leda thought she was dumb.

Yes, she had a tendency to jump to wrong conclusions. "Nobody told me!"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm so sorry, I should have told you sooner. They're like, the only sea life that doesn't creep me out."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"...you don't like fish?" Hayley said, going from panicked to baffled in a moment. "Not even goldfish?"

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I guess goldfish are okay. But the buggy eyes are still kinda weird. I don't know I grew up where there wasn't any sea life."

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] onlysmokesnics.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"So you don't like... seals?" Hayley said, thinking of the cute baby seals. She was probably going to go through a list of all the cute sea animals she could think of.

Re: Atlantis Beach

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2010-02-28 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Leda conceded. Seals are cool too."

It wasn't like Mat generally stirred before noon if he could help it, so he hadn't even known it'd been raining until he came out and stared in confusion at the wet loungers.

He gave a shrug and settled in for a nice nap.

Robin never minded the rain, and since it wasn't too cold out, he went exploring, ending up on the beach, dancing. And singing.

Since it wasn't really the right time to be out and about, Angela was taking her time over breakfast (http://www.atlantis.com/dining/casualdining/watersedge.aspx) this morning.

Handy patio seating gave her a good view of the rain without actually having to be out in it, and the maple syrup drowned pancakes she'd grabbed from the buffet were really, really good.

It was not fair that it was raining on the last day, and forgive Jaina if she was mentally seven at the thought of it. She went to grab an early lunch outdoors under the dome, mostly to see when it stopped raining. But okay, she had to admit it looked really pretty while it was raining. Unexpected bonus.

On the last day of vacation, Angela finally found something she didn't hate. You might think Atlantis Pals was for kids, but it wasn't.

She was currently making toys for her cats. Don't judge.

The rain just gave Harper an excuse to explore the indoor wonders of Atlantis. After a late breakfast, she visited Atlantis Pals (http://www.atlantis.com/thingstodo/activities/atlantispals.aspx) to make a couple extra souvenirs.
