"They do. Who should we go see?" Walter looked around and pointed toward the area with the rock stars. "Anyone special you want your picture with?"

"Yeah, there's a few...but I feel kinda bad about it."

He may have blushed a little and pretended to be fascinated by a random sign.

"Oh?" Walter raised her eyebrows and caught Victor's hand to pull him toward the rock stars. "I'm not going to be jealous of pieces of wax."

"Well, good, because some of these guys are hot," he admitted as he followed Walter. "Well, they're actually cool, because if they were hot they'd melt and all, but...well you get the idea!"

"Right. Well, come on. I don't know who most of these people are, so this is all yours. But we're going to have to look at the London history exhibit. That's something I'll feel less ignorant about."

Victor followed his ~~boy~~girlfriend to the Lonon exhibit, pointing out notable musicians along the way. He got footage of their trip in case Walter wanted it later, and the camera may have lingered a little on some of the cuter musicians.

Walter may have had slightly varying impressions of which musicians were cuter, but that didn't stop her from looking at all of them.

"Come on, let's see the London exhibit now." 400 years of London personages and history in one place. Walter was almost excited to see that. It made some of the changes that had happened to her city seem more real - in a waxy sort of way.

When they reached the London exhibit, Victor raised his eyebrows. "It looks a little...bare. As in...where are all the real people?"

He held his camera up and zoomed in a group of Prime Ministers. "Which one of these guys was in charge in your world?"

Walter shrugged and pointed toward Winston Churchill. "Before him, it was Neville Chamberlain. Churchill had a parrot named Charlie who he taught to curse at the Nazis.*"

"Heh. That's pretty cool." Then he was silent a moment. When he spoke again, his voice had a tiny bit of an edge to it. "I really wish the whole Nazi mentality never existed."

"I keep telling Arthur to send us to Germany, but he says he can't." Walter's voice may have had more than a tiny bit of an edge and Victor can probably guess who Walter means by "us." "He says it's a suicide mission."

Given the overall death toll from WWII, Walter was of the opinion that one suicide mission was negligible overall.

"What's sad is that the realy villans were the people who let Hitler rise to power. They let him intimidate them, while others just followed blindly. And it keeps happening again and again. Why don't people learn from history?"

"He played off their fears and their egos," Walter said, putting her arm around Victor and leading him away to the "Journey to Infinity" auditorium.

"This is perfect. Like our picnics, but a bit bigger."

The large room had a huge dome on which imax-style video was projected to provide an astronomer's eye view of the universe.

"Oh...wow..."

The sight of the "universe" made him gasp and forget most of his former sorrow. "I've seen stuff like this before, but every time I see it again..."

"...it puts things in perspective," Walter said. Maybe that wasn't what Victor was going to say, but it was what she was feeling.

And after their little discussion about Nazis and the war, and her own "little" gender issues, a bit of perspective was a good thing.

"This is incredible. I read that they're considering discontinuing these shows, so we might be very lucky to see it before it's gone."

"Good thing I have it recorded," he said, tilting the camcorder up to the ceiling. Then, he looked around and got an idea. "Hey...there's no one around. Is it okay if I kiss you? Y'know...since this place isn't gonna be around for long. For its sake."

"I don't mind." She wouldn't admit it, but she was still very nervous about the situation. Being a girl sort of seemed like a dealbreaker in a relationship where neither party was actually interested in girls.

Water was tense. He could sense it in her movements, see it in her eyes. "Hey, relax, okay?" Victor said, just as much for his sake as for Walter's. "I'm not used to this, either, but...we said we'd take it one day at a time, remember?"

He turned the camcorder off, then reached forward and touched the back of Walter's head before pulling her in for a sweet kiss. Yes, Walter felt different, but like he had experienced before, the kiss was the same firm, almondy sensation he was used to. And while he barely felt any stirrings in his dick, he knew that somewhere inside the body of this girl was his man, and that's who he was kissing.

Walter was rather confused by her own reactions to the kiss, but she knew that it was comforting to be in Victor's arms and hiss him. He hadn't changed and it was something familiar when everything else was different in one way or another.

She rubbed her nose against his and nodded. "I'm fine. We'll get this worked out somehow."

"Yeah, somehow. I want us to be able to last, even if this lasts, too. I have no idea what's gonna happen in the furture, but I know that I don't wanna be without you."

Those last words wavered a little as he fought back tears. He hadn't admitted it yet, but deep down inside, he was scared. He was scared that the gender change would eventually come between them, that they wouldn't be able to be together because of some freak accident. He'd been trying to ignore it, but now tears slowly traveled down his cheeks as he bit his lip to keep it from quivering.

He had meant it when he said he loved Walter. There was no way he wanted to ever let him go.

Not afraid. Not afraid. Dammit, she was not afraid. So she wasn't going to cry.

Okay, the tears must be a gender switch thing. She buried her face against Victor's chest and concentrated on keeping her shoulders from hitching.

Victor cried with her, kissing the side of Walter's head and repeating softly "I love you, I love you..."

Bitch ass punk why did this shit have to happen to them?

Walter pulled herself together as quickly as she could, putting her arms around Victor to hold him until they both collected themselves somewhat.

"I love you." She produced a handkerchief from somewhere and wiped her eyes. "Let's go someplace that doesn't make our eyes water like this place does."

Victor nodded and wiped his eyes on his sleeve. "You wanna just go back to the hotel? I just want to eat and go to bed."

"The sooner this day ends, the better." Walter nodded in agreement and hugged Victor one more time before taking his hand and heading for the exit. "And when this is over, don't think I'll forget how good a boyfriend you are."
