Kellerman's Resort, Saturday Evening, October 17th

It was the last night of a magical week here at Kellerman's. It could only be hoped that everyone had the time of their lives. That they'd never felt this way before.

But we swear it's the truth.

And they owe it all to the wonderful camp for putting up with everyone's shenanigans. Bobby.

"Am I?" she asked, surprised. "Guess all that hiking today must've helped." Or, you know, the talk they'd had yesterday, possibly.

"Did you get lost?" Ben asked with a smile. "Because it's okay if you do. Don't listen to Ender."

"I could say I did, but no. I guess I wanted to see if I could hit every single trail. I might've covered half of them." Through judicious use of Force-assisted shortcuts in places, maybe. "Do anything fun today?"

"I went swimming," Ben said. "The pool, not the lake."

"The lake's probably extra cold today anyway," Tahiri told him. "It froze over for a while last night."

"It's way too early for that kind of cold," Ben declared arbitrarily.

"I thought it might be." Tahiri didn't know either. "I have no idea. I was just watching the lake, and then surprise."

All night. Yes.

"All night?" Ben replied, looking concerned.

Tahiri had the grace to look a little contrite about it. "Maybe -- okay, yeah. I slept a little bit here and there, though."

"How little a bit?" Ben asked, putting his arm around her waist.

"Four hours, maybe, I'd say. In bits and pieces." Tahiri turned the cup around in her hands a couple of times. "It wasn't so bad."

Ben's grip tightened. "How much does that up to for the week?" he asked softly.

Insomnia boy kept track of that kind of thing. Four hours a night was about his average these days.

"Twenty-five, maybe thirty," Tahiri guessed, giving him a pointed look. "I was sleeping great the other night until the nightmare hit. How much have you had?"

Ben shrugged. "Slightly less."

"This is a problem too," she pointed out mildly. "Boy, we're in great shape."

"I was doing better," Ben said. "Jacen just...reminded my brain of some stuff."

Tahiri reached for his hand. "Yeah, I know how that goes. You're doing okay, and then something happens and everything that was buried just . . ."

He squeezed her hand in reply. "Yeah," he said softly. "I woke Ender up. Not what I had in mind."

"That bad, huh?" Tahiri curled her fingers a little tighter around his hand. "Guess I can't say I'm surprised, after what he -- Jacen, I mean -- did to you."

"I didn't mean to yell," Ben said, turning bright red even in the glow of the fire.

"No." Tahiri leaned in to kiss his cheek. "It happens sometimes, though. I still do that, sometimes."

"Shaping, Myrkr, or both?" he asked, leaning closer and needed the comfort.

"Both. Sometimes a combination of the two." Tahiri wrapped an arm around his shoulders. "Loads of fun, really. Isn't it?"

"Oh, completely," Ben said with a little shudder.

Tahiri tried to tug him a little closer. "Yeah. Come here, will you?" She suspected they could both use the hug.
