Washington DC National Mall | All Day | July 4

The drive up hadn't taken that long and the Fandom High group was there in plenty of time to both do some exploring, check out the sights, relax and anything else they might want to do before the fireworks at night and the ensuing trip home.

There was plenty to do at the National Mall and plenty to do in the areas surrounding it. The group was given free reign with a trust that was rarely given to high school groups.

The day was warm and sunny. There were crowds, of course, so the group was encouraged to stick together and was given stern instructions not to get into any trouble. Detentions were still able to be given out and if anyone got arrested, well, who knows if they might just be left there to be taught a lesson.

It's July 4. Hope you brought your sunscreen!

[OCD IS UP! Go play and have fun! If you didn't sign up for this trip and would still like to attend, THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE! It's open to ALL teachers, townies and students. Come along if you want to! It's okay! Posted early for SP! Look here for a great map of the National Mall and things that surround it!]

She nodded , her expression serious as she considered it. "There was a Nepalese stall with mountains all done in felt. More art than arty. And I know I saw some silk scarves painted with them. I think at Korea."

"The scarf sounds good." Tim said, after a moment's consideration. "Lots of artists decorate themselves with scarves right?"

"Yes," she nodded, her smile growing again, "I'm a fan, and I'm not even an artist."

"And people say there's no appreciation for art these days." Actually he'd never heard anyone say that. "How long have you been going to Fandom?"

She'd never heard it either, but let it go, just smiling as she led the way back to the Korean booth. "This is my second session. Two teensy little months. You?"

"Well I spent the summer here a few years ago, so I guess technically this summer will make it half a year. But I'm gonna call it two non-consecutive years. Cause it sounds better."

"Does it? Do you get points for how long you've been here?" Her voice was light and teasing, "does that make you a senior, too?"

Tim chuckled ruefully. "Heh, no, a teacher. Junior in college."

"You're a-" She paused, wincing, "I'm sorry. I didn't know."

"'Sokay. I've gotten used to people thinking I'm younger. Actually I kind of like being able to pass for younger."

"Should we be fraternizing?" Her voice had taken on its teasing tone again, pausing in front of the booth she'd been thinking of. "Could I get in trouble for this?"

"I'm sure it's fine. We're off duty."
