Voavah Island, the Maldives [Thursday Evening]

The sun was setting! Could you take your sunglasses of now?

Well, yes.

But if you did, another pair reappeared in their place immediately after.

And if a minor inconvenience turning into a slightly bigger inconvenience at nightfall wasn't enough to get you in some kind of a discombobulated mood... There was also the sudden appearance of an abandoned lighthouse that was now sitting at the far end of the island.

It was Halloween season, after all!

Our days will revolve around the multi-story Beach House--where the students are staying--and the adjacent powder-white sands, crystal lagoon and vibrant reef, which are all exemplary even by the Maldives' standards. Laze in the shady open-air lounge. Dive into the pristine waters. Work out in the gym. Cool down in the library. Go for a beach wander across the five-acre island.

Students are sharing two-bedroom mezzanine suites ~~as we add floors to the beach house~~, with ocean views and an outdoor shower. (And an indoor shower, if outdoor showers aren't your thing.) Each bedroom comes with two twins beds (or one king, depending on which is funner). Teachers are located in the three-bedroom Beach Villa or the two bedroom Water Villa.

There’s a sushi-making class tonight!

Kitty was definitely doing the sushi-making class. She had it enough, and this might be something she could make at home so they weren't always living on takeout! Maybe!

Rey wasn't much for parties, but she didn't actually know what a white party was and she was already accidentally dressed for it. Curiosity won out, so she sort of came to peek her besunglassed head in.

...For like a minute unless anyone she knew showed up because the DJ was a little much.

"Oh, this is not an acceptable replacement for Supper Club," Flint decided.

"Noooo," she agreed. "I'm surprised this is a theme?"

"Things that are white?" Flint snorted. "Me too."

Rey shrugged.

"What brought you down here?"

"I was looking for something to do," Flint replied. "I do not think this is it."

"Do you not like the DJ?" Rey teased.

"What's a DJ?" Flint asked.

"The person causing the music."

Not playing it. Causing it.

"Ohhh," Flint said. "Him I hate."

"Yeah," she agreed. "Do you want to go somewhere else?"

"Not the pool," Flint said.

Rey frowned. "What's wrong with the pool?"

"Jello," Flint said, sighing. "I asked someone this morning."

"Oh. That had to be a horrible surprise for someone," she said.!

"Oh, certainly," Flint said with a little grin. "I'm almost sorry I didn't witness it."

That poor pool filter.

"Maybe tomorrow," she said. "All right, not the pool."

"I swam with fish last night with lamps that worked underwater," Flint said. "It was--" heartstoppingly beautiful. incredible, "--interesting."

"I didn't know you can do that here."

Rey should not do that.

"You can do everything here," Flint said. "I took the yacht yesterday."

"And that is the least surprising thing I've ever heard," Rey said immediately.

"The surprising part was that I brought it back," Flint said with a grin.

"You could have been halfway to the Caribbean by now," she said, and added, "I think. I have no idea how long it takes to get anywhere."

"I think it would probably take a little more time," Flint said with a laugh. "But only a little more."

There’s suddenly an abandoned lighthouse sitting at the far end of the island. Who opens it, reveals a Halloween haunted house. No people, but plenty of scares - and they shift with every new entrant. Sometimes the inside is a dark forest full of spooky sounds and no movement. Sometimes it’s a frat party house with dumb frat scares. Sometimes it’s a medieval castle full of walking skeletons. But there will always be something inside that can scare your character in particular.

The lighthouse will vanish by tomorrow morning.

Tell us where you are! The yacht is free!

Did Jon like being out on boats? Not particularly. Was he still stealing the yacht? Hell, yes, because he was getting as far from that lighthouse as possible.

He'd texted whoever he knew that might want to come with him. He was going to the opposite side of the island so he didn't have to look at it.

Tomorrow is parasailing or coral reef rebuilding, and a Disco Cowgirl Party for our last night in the Maldives. And everything smells like coconut.
