Waves Resort & Spa, Saint James, Barbados [Wednesday Morning/Afternoon]

It was a beautiful day on Barbados, and the sea looked especially inviting. Who didn't want to enjoy a February vacation in paradise? Truly?

Steph turned and kissed the top of her head. "It just feels wrong to disturb the water when it's so clear, huh?" she guessed, because she'd definitely had thoughts along the same lines.

"Yeah," Vi said softly. "I mean I brought my bathing suit and everything, but it definitely feel like something that's not for me."

Steph made a soft noise of agreement. "God, I know what you mean, yeah. Like someone's going to notice and raise hell the second you stick a toe in."

Vi nodded. "They'll know we're not the kind of person it's meant for."

"Well, fuck them," Steph declared. "Who gives a shit if this is supposed to be a rich people resort? We're paying guests here and if they can't deal with that they can choke. Not like they can do anything else to us for it anyway."

As opposed to what Vi might be accustomed to expecting, but she wouldn't mention that bit out loud.

She didn't need to. "Listen to my badass girl," Vi said instead, leaning in to kiss her.

"I'm only trying to be supportive," Steph replied against her lips, wrapping her free arm around Vi's waist. "But I maybe also have a lot of pent-up anger to vent myself."

Vi slid her own free arm around Steph's waist. "Still nice to have someone get angry for me."

"It's what I'm here for." Steph reached out to clink her glass against Vi's. "And to keep you supplied with as many tasty treats as you could ever hope for, of course."

"You're terrible," Steph informed her promptly and without a hint of disapproval whatsoever. "That can, however, for sure be arranged."

Vi grinned shamelessly and drained her glass. "Gotta enjoy the finest things while we're on vacation."

"Absolutely," Steph said, watching Vi with clear amusement in her eyes over the rim of her glass as she finished her own drink. "But not before I get you to go tubing with me."

Vi raised her eyebrows. "That a sex thing or a vacation thing?" Or both?

Steph burst out laughing, and it was a good thing she'd finished her drink already or there would have been a spit take.

"Inner tubing," she finally managed between snickers, and pointed out at someone floating out on the water in a giant inflated inner tube. "I don't want us to get banned from the beach."

"Oh, I get it now," Vi said resting her chin on Steph's shoulder. "Be a fun way to get banned though."

"Excuse me," Steph said, turning to kiss her cheek, "but I have a private, romantic dinner for two on the beach booked for tomorrow night, and we're not getting banned before then, thank you very much."

She paused briefly.

"At least wait until our last day here to do that."

"Oh, I definitely don't want to ruin your plans," Vi said, smiling at her. "I'm sure your date will appreciate how thoughtful you're being."

"Oh, I'm your date?" Vi faked surprise. "Definitely don't want to ruin your plans then."

"I am going to push you in," Steph announced, as if she had any real intention of following through on that. "Just for being the world's biggest brat."

Hopefully it would be a lot less awkward than the last time she'd pushed Vi into the ocean.

Vi was completely unintimidated. "That eager to get me wet?"

Neither of them were in denial now? At least not about wanting to see each other in clingy wet clothes.

Steph snorted. "What can I say? I do find your brattiness inexplicably appealing."

There was just one thing they were still in denial about. But it was fine.

Vi reached out to grab hold of Steph's top and pull her in for a kiss. "Love you too."

They weren't making themselves miserable, so it was all good.

Steph's glass went flying somewhere into the sand as she let herself get pulled in, oops.

"Promise you'll show me how much you appreciate my efforts after our beach date and I won't push you in. Unless you want me to."
