"Fine. I do not know all but I have my confidential sources," Kamala said continuing to smirk. "And I refuse to reveal them because... I don't know I didn't pay a lot of attention in my government class."

She smiled "So everything's okay? No awkwardness or whatever? After spending so much time on the roof together it's probably totally normal."

Or at least that was the disappointment Kamala was readying herself for.

"Yeah, exactly!" Arden said with a very convincing smile. "Totally just normal stuff. Our bed is huge and everything."

"We woke up cuddling this morning, but that was chill because we're cuddle buddies already, you know?"

VERY NORMAL. TOTALLY CHILL.

"Sure," Kamala said with a slow nod of understanding and not inferring anything else. "Just like how you guys snuggle up in the nest on the roof. Or during movie night."

Which normal friends barely do. No matter how much Arden might disagree with the narrative.

"Exactly!" she said. "Just like that. We agreed that it's basically the roof all over again."

"Oh did you guys want me to join in so we can revisit the whole rooftop experience? Hmm. The bed's probably too small," Kamala said, snapping her fingers in disappointment.

She then looked at all the ziplines and then back at Arden. "You feeling well enough to do this? I don't want to get reamed by Ammi if you get hurt because you know I'll be the one to catch blame for this."

"The wire does all the work," Arden pointed out, skipping right around Kamala's offer, thank you. "And Cal's already offered to give me piggyback rides if I start getting tired."

"Not a single word out of you, Kams."

Kamala opened her mouth to say something and then Arden hushed her.

So Kamala just looked at Arden with her big eyes trying not to explode from laughter.

Kamala did her best to hold it in. She really tried. But before long, the giggles bubbled up, and she erupted into laughter.

"I'm sorry!" she said, trying to stop laughing. "I'm sorry!"

She pulled it together and attempted to give Arden a tight hug, her voice turning sincere. "You know I love you, right?"

"Which is still more thanks than you deserve," Arden teased. "Anyway, way more important than my lack of love life...have you figured where you're taking Ellie out for your romantic vacation date yet?"

Kamala’s eyes widened in mild panic. "Wait, I’m supposed to plan a romantic date? Did she tell you that? Did I say that?" she asked, her words rushing out. "I mean, we talked about going to a literary thing, shopping, and maybe a spa day. Does that count? Is that romantic?"

"Breathe, Kams, breathe," Arden said. "And no, nothing like that. But like...this is a beautiful and romantic city, right? You gotta take her out to dinner somewhere nice! Or at least eat at the hotel, but at a table off by yourselves. Maybe dress up a little, go for a walk...You know! A little romantic!"

Definitely take advice from Arden, Kamala. Look how well she was handling her own relationship.

"Okay. Okay. I can do that," Kamala said, pulling her act together. "Honestly I think the Literary thing would be romantic as she loves reading and we can go out to eat after that."

"She mentioned how excited she was to check it out," Arden said, mentally revising her plans to remove that option, at least until Kamala had a chance to take Eleanor out. "I'm trying to check in with folks to make sure we do a variety of things, so nobody feels left out, you know?"

"Yeah, but looking up stuff that seems fun isn't really effort!" Arden said. "And if we alternate days between active stuff and quiet, I'll have plenty of time to recover!"

Someone might have to sit on her before the vacation was over, yes.
