Saturday: Nemesis Island

It's amazing how different the atmosphere changes once you cross over the causeway to Nemesis island. True, it might be the same temperature and all but just setting foot on the island can give you goosebumps.

And if you meet up with of the residents here you might attacked for no good reason.

Which, sadly, is the slogan of the local tourism board.

There was no way Chuck couldn't go sight seeing on Nemesis, especially not after he had heard there were strippers there. The Bada Boom was his first stop and he enjoyed himself immensely there, both with the booze and the women.

He was walking a little unsteadier than usual when he walked outside but was still capable of making good decisions.

Not that he made good decisions normally. But still, he was capable of making them.

"Aw, Chuck, you look a little lost," Dan said, falling into step with the other boy. "Hope you weren't coming to visit me."

"Well if it isn't Raggedy Andy," Chuck said, tilting his head. "Actually, I was visiting some of the more attractive people of the island."

He pointed at the Bada Boom. "Are you just about to start your shift? I can definitely see you as a Cher impersonator."

Dan ignored that. "I am touched you would pay that close attention to me. Really. Though, I am not surprised that you have to pay girls to get a second look."

"I'm merely helping out with their college funds. I wouldn't expect you to understand," Chuck said. "Your only experience with a naked woman is peeping through a window with a pair of binoculars."

"Your lack of intelligence remains intact," Dan said, shaking his head. "But, really, I'm quite pleased that you don't know about my personal life. Really, I am. I wouldn't want things like venereal diseases and impotence to get attached to me."

He was making most of that up. But, he didn't care.

"I wouldn't worry about that. You need to have a woman interested you before that could happen," Chuck said. Venereal disease he had heard before but impotence was new. Chuck didn't like it. It had an almost foreboding ring to it. "Are you getting paid to follow me around and be annoying?"

"God, I wish," Dan said and rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't do this for fun. But, you know, since you're here, I figured we could catch up. We left a few things unsaid the other day."

"Oh no, there's one thing I forgot to tell you," Dan said, stepping in front of Chuck to halt his walk.

Dan gave Chuck one last smile before rearing back and swinging his fist right at Chuck's chin, intending to knock him on his ass.

Chuck probably should have seen that coming. If he had he might've been able to turn away from the blow. Instead he took the hit full on and indeed fell on his ass, clutching his face in his hands.

"You're going to regret that," Chuck gritted out. The threat was sort of lost in the fact that Chuck could only use one side of his mouth.

"Aw, Chuck, you look good on the ground," Dan said, shaking his hand a little. "Just where you ought to be. Almost a role reversal, right? Me, kid with a scholarship standing above you, jackass with money."

Chuck opened his mouth a couple times to try to get the feeling back in his jaw. Weren't those goody two shoes guys supposed to be above physical violence?

"This jackass on the ground still can afford everything you can't and punching me isn't going to do a damn thing to change that," Chuck said, smiling as best he could. "I'm going to get into an Ivy League school strictly because of who my father is. And when I get there I'm going to pay for people to study for me. How does that make you feel, Raggedy Andy?"

Chuck tilted his head to the side but didn't get up because he really wasn't looking for a round two. "If you really think I'm going to let you get another punch in then you are dumber than I thought."

"Nice to know you're a giant chicken," Dan said, laughing. "Bet you get that from your rich father. Or mother."

Chuck sneered and pushed himself up off the ground, not dusting his clothes off even though he desperately wanted to. "I suppose this is the part where I give in to your bait and punch your face in to defend my family's honor?"

Because he so totally would.

Chuck couldn't really walk away from that. He wasn't really a fighter but he liked to think he could kick a poor kid's ass. There was about a second's hesitation before Chuck swung his fist at Dan's nose.

Dan hadn't actually counted on Chuck throwing a punch (he thought his hands were porcelain or something) so the shot caught him on the nose and made his eyes start to water.

His father, the rockstar, would lecture him later for this but Dan didn't care. As soon as he was able to see enough, he retaliated, jabbing quickly in an attempt to catch Chuck off guard.

Chuck was too busy being smug to notice Dan had struck back and the second punch was enough to make his nose bleed. "You-you are dead."

"That's gonna leave a mark," Dan said smugly. "Lots of them, in fact. Maybe it'll make you think twice about running your mouth."

Nothing in this world would shut Chuck up permanently but considering his present situation even he could see that snarking back now would just end up with him getting a black eye. So instead he just glared.
