Manta Resort, Zanzibar [Thursday Daytime]

We can stop telling you not to get eaten! Now we move onto telling you not to drown! Welcome to the Manta Resort, located on Pemba Island in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The resort was designed to conserve the natural beauty of Pemba Island, including the waters that surround it.

And even though you might be able to sleep through the sunrise what with being underwater and with a roof over your head, surely you want to get up nice and early to experience all that it has to offer!

UNDERWATER ROOMS

Anchored in an ocean floor anomaly we call the blue hole, the floating underwater rooms top almost anything. Encapsulated within a turquoise blue bubble, watching shoals of reef fish swim by – sometimes in three or four layers of different species--this is a truly heart-stopping experience. The floating structures provides three levels: above the water clad in local hardwood is a lounge, bed and bathrooms underwater, and a stargazing, sun tanning bed on the roof.

Bedrooms

Humpback Whale #1

Once the realization that this was actually, quite possibly, one of the only times in his entire life, where Ignis did not have to be entirely poised, prudent, discreet, and most of all responsible, there was no turning back. He had allowed himself, in the past, to acquire something of a light buzz, but never anything beyond that, and he always made sure to quickly sober up if it ever got to that point. After all, there was never really a moment where he wasn't working, where he wasn't on, but now, here he was, whole galaxies and dimensions away from any of his real responsibilities.

So he'd decided, for once, to actually let himself go and get drunk. On jello shots, of all things.

And he was filled with nothing but regrets by the time morning rolled around, roughly pulling him out of a less than restful slumber. He groaned, hand immediately going to his pounding head, while some of the more fuzzier memories of the party last night tried to make themselves clearer.

But mostly, he was just sort of wondering how even his hair seemed to hurt right now.

Reef Shark #2

The nice thing about these vacations was that, even if you did decide to be lazy and sleep in, especially after a party, there was still plenty of time to do other stuff, so Summer wasn't really too worried about it. She was wondering how much effort she really wanted to put into clean-up now that it was officially the morning-after, but, honestly? Her main goal was procuring some coffee for anyone who didn't make it out of the room last night like a good hostess, and then maybe writing a note of apology to housekeeping to say sorry about all the glitter.

[[ and of course, anyone who wanted to have crashed here after the party, even handwavily, is more than welcome to have, especially since I know there was at least one, because it me. lol ]]

Porcelain Crab #1

While Irene had tragically declined to attend last night's room party -- tempting though it was, she had been feeling that camel ride later in the day -- she had to admit that it was a little nice to have the room to herself.

Even if it made her wonder where Amaya had ended up. Maybe she missed the snoring a little, who could say.

All the same, Irene was refreshed and blissfully recharged when she awoke alone in her bed this morning amongst the fish. (And very glad she had, indeed, tagged along on this holiday even if it'd been...surprising along the way.)

Lounge/Sunbed

There's also seats to stare out at the water or a sunbed to get gorgeously tanned--or sunburned--just in time to go back to cold, dreary Maryland in a few days.

Vi lay stretched out along the lounge...where she'd slept, since once the awe the rooms inspired wore off, the feeling of being trapped in a small underwater room with only one exit hadn't really made for a restful night.

Look, no matter where he was, Miguel needed coffee, okay? The fish were nice; he'd appreciate them more once he was properly awake.

Also, Rosa would more properly appreciate him after coffee. And he had no idea about Irene, but it couldn't hurt, right? (Amaya hadn't been in last night. When you had good hearing, you could tell these things.)

So here was Miguel, nodding off next to the coffee pot as it brewed.

As much as Alara did think her room was pretty awesome, she did like the idea of spending the day at the beach, especially in a place where it was warm enough to do so.

Food Things

Whether it's enjoying snacks on the elevated terrace or drinks in the lounge, there's incredibly good food and drinks for you to try for the next few days.

Somehow, Gladio was pretty sure the usual morning meeting that he and the other chocobros had been having before getting their days starting would be a little lacking in at least one party member. Which meant that Gladio was actually the first to arrive to grab a bite to eat, trying not to smirk too much as he waited for Prompto to get there to share with him the news.

And also trying not to trail too much glitter. He'd honestly tried to get it all off, especially since he didn't want to just glitter-fy the whole ocean, and yet...

Diving

The diving around Pemba Island, Zanzibar is nothing else but breathtaking. The untouched coral reefs surrounding the entire island make Pemba one of the top dive sites in the world. Pemba, Tanzania is the perfect place to start your dive adventure with one of the healthiest coral reefs in the Indian Ocean, a water temperature averaging at 26ºC and the best visibility of East Africa of 30-40 meters almost every day!

The spur of the moment swim with Miguel yesterday really had Dwight in the mood for more time in the water. Clear. Beautiful. WARM. Water. So, he was definitely going to be spending a good bit of time in the water over at some of the basic dive and snorkling sites.

Oh, and look who didn't even need diving equipment or even the boat ride out to some of the deeper dives! Sidon would also be more than happy to offer a ride to anyone who might be interested in swimming out on the back of a Zora instead of in a boat, and he was absolutely going to be trying to hit up as many of them as he possibly could...

...although, really, at some point, it all just became him doing his own thing with the vague suggestion of following the dives, but...well...you couldn't really blame him, now, could you?

The bats were tempting, but not as tempting as all that water, and this trip awakening once again Astrid's constant desire to just be surrounded by it, to be set adrift with the waves around her and the sky above, so she really couldn't pass up the chance to do a little coral diving and collect even more inspiration from the colors, the shapes, the fish darting and zooming out of the way, scattering like shiny gemstones...

Pemba Island Excursion

This excursion takes you all around Pemba Island, visiting the ancient Ngezi rainforest, the clove spice farm and other places of interest. Pick and choose what you would like to include on your safari and how much time you would like to spend. If you do it all it will take you a good 8 hours starting at 08.30 in the morning.
