Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Feet Below Fandom, Monday

Monday dawned bright and hot -- up on the surface, anyway. Down in the hole, with no sun to indicate the passage of time, Monday started no different from any other day.

Well, there was the part where Travis was constructing a careful little mound of scrap wood in approximately the center of the clearing between the hole-d buildings, anyway. After unsuccessfully trying to dig out through the rocks, he was back to trying to make the best of things, and right now he'd decided that involved providing light using something more than various emergency lanterns.

Fires could be cheerful too, right? And hey, maybe if they built up enough smoke, it would vent out through the holes up above and help folks up there figure out where the hell people were ending up. . . .

Astrid's screaming, her desperate attempts to somehow grab onto something to prevent herself from falling, had happened at what she thought was half-way down, but she soon realized that this estimate was generous and it had been much, much less, because she just kept falling and falling and falling...

Until she suddenly WASN'T, and she landed and tumbled into something and let herself fall just that slight bit more, so her butt touched the ground, and her knees immediately drew up, and she drew in a shaky breath, not wanting to look, not wanting to see, what this island was throwing her into next. Another forest, another volcano, another SOMETHING  because life just couldn't leave her alone, there was always Somethi--

But she did open her eyes. And she blinked. It didn't seem all that bad, although maybe it was, when she looked up and could only see darkness for unfathomable heights.

But it wasn't that bad.

Either that, or she just knew too much that was much, much worse.

Carefully, she pushed herself up to her feet, brushed some dirt off her jeans, and just sort of looked around wondering what now?

Astrid was just going to look at him for a moment, in case he missed the whole 'falling into a hole into a deep dark cavern' part of all of this, which she felt could answer that question fairly well.

Although, really, there wee no goat demons or corporeal manifestations of her psyche attacking her right now so, despite that pause, she actually meant it when she said, "I think I'm okay...

"And now I know the hole thing is real, too."

Then she could only sigh, because of course she got sucked into a hole, why wouldn't she?

Alexis, who by now had fashioned herself a minidress out of a bowling shirt, maybe did not have the best reaction.

"Oh, thank god, a girl!"

Followed by, "And someone who's not old!"

You were all cramping her style, everybody else.

But also? Maybe that was the best reaction.

"Hey, Alexis." Astrid gave her a faint smile. "How long have you been down here?"

And why was she...weirdly not at all surprised that she was?

It was really half falling, half yeeting himself back up with the jet pack before whatever the kriff was going on here sent him plummeting back down.

So, he was less than impressed when he finally landed next to where the ice cream shop already had settled.

Dwight watched Travis work on building up the wood in the makeshift fire pit. Guy clearly knew his stuff.

"You seem to have this all well under control," he said as he walked up. "But do you need any else? More wood or tinder or anything?"

"Are we meant to be having a cookout?" Hannibal asked. "Or were you going to practice your skills in putting it out, or did you merely feel like making a fire?"

Hannibal brought the last of the clothing out to put on the pile, then began sorting and folding it.

Hey, even he needed to stop reading and actually do something sometimes. Even if that something was just sorting into sizes and function.

Maybe later he'd grind up meat for more sausages. Or play theremin.

Now that Ignis had gotten the lay of the land and as much of a grasp on their situation as anyone, he was still trying to think of some solutions, sitting off to the side a little, and also giving his daggers an inspection, with a little extra help from the light attached to his shirt. He had oh so handwavily attempted to see if some magic might make some headway on the walls of the cavern, but it appeared they were quite impervious to power tools, lightning, fire, and ice, and he didn't appreciate the beating the efforts seem to have done to his blades...

And then there was just the idly gazing upwards, as if to spend away all the idle time.

Dwight had been making one of his rounds, trying to stay busy and productive. As fate- what else could it be at this point- would have it, he was checking his phone, cursing the blinking red warning light of an almost dead battery.

Just then he heard the unmistaken sound of a scream echoing through the cavern. Dwight took off in the direction he thought it was coming from, and as he did, he hit the SEND button, sending off that text he had already typed out, hoping against all odd that maybe, maybe it would get out of the hole and get to Miguel, so he would at least know they were ok and still alive.

Moments later the phone died and with a sigh, Dwight slipped the phone back into his pocket and headed off to find the newest arrival to their ever-growing subterranean community.

They were still here. They were still here and now it was Monday, Stark was pretty sure, and nothing much had changed.

He was poking around inside the bowling alley today. Mostly pacing walking around looking at things. At least it was something like a change of scenery.

Hey, the other person that Faye would be irrationally mad at for hole related disappearances!

Though Stark would probably get the brunt of it because of emotions that needed to never be shared and all that.

"How many buildings are down here?"

Stark was going to get yelled at so much by someone who didn't believe in feelings!

"Did you bring one?" Stark asked, sounding resigned. "There's a house and the fire station and this one. If you brought one, then four."

Melty ice cream.
