Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Feet Below Fandom, Monday
Monday dawned bright and hot -- up on the surface, anyway. Down in the hole, with no sun to indicate the passage of time, Monday started no different from any other day.
Well, there was the part where Travis was constructing a careful little mound of scrap wood in approximately the center of the clearing between the hole-d buildings, anyway. After unsuccessfully trying to dig out through the rocks, he was back to trying to make the best of things, and right now he'd decided that involved providing light using something more than various emergency lanterns.
Fires could be cheerful too, right? And hey, maybe if they built up enough smoke, it would vent out through the holes up above and help folks up there figure out where the hell people were ending up. . . .

New arrivals
Re: New arrivals
Until she suddenly WASN'T, and she landed and tumbled into something and let herself fall just that slight bit more, so her butt touched the ground, and her knees immediately drew up, and she drew in a shaky breath, not wanting to look, not wanting to see, what this island was throwing her into next. Another forest, another volcano, another SOMETHING because life just couldn't leave her alone, there was always Somethi--
But she did open her eyes. And she blinked. It didn't seem all that bad, although maybe it was, when she looked up and could only see darkness for unfathomable heights.
But it wasn't that bad.
Either that, or she just knew too much that was much, much worse.
Carefully, she pushed herself up to her feet, brushed some dirt off her jeans, and just sort of looked around wondering what now?
Re: New arrivals
"You alright?"
Re: New arrivals
Although, really, there wee no goat demons or corporeal manifestations of her psyche attacking her right now so, despite that pause, she actually meant it when she said, "I think I'm okay...
"And now I know the hole thing is real, too."
Then she could only sigh, because of course she got sucked into a hole, why wouldn't she?

"Oh, thank god, a girl!"
Followed by, "And someone who's not old!"
You were all cramping her style, everybody else.
Re: New arrivals
"Hey, Alexis." Astrid gave her a faint smile. "How long have you been down here?"
And why was she...weirdly not at all surprised that she was?

So, he was less than impressed when he finally landed next to where the ice cream shop already had settled.
Re: New arrivals
Look, sometimes you just had to state the obvious.

Life in the hole
Re: Life in the hole
He was not building a teepee, imaginary friend, he was building a log cabin, it would burn longer that way. So there.
Re: Life in the hole
"You seem to have this all well under control," he said as he walked up. "But do you need any else? More wood or tinder or anything?"
Re: Life in the hole
"Do you have any marshmallows?"
It would be a sad campfire indeed if no one made any s'mores.

Hey, even he needed to stop reading and actually do something sometimes. Even if that something was just sorting into sizes and function.
Maybe later he'd grind up meat for more sausages. Or play theremin.
Re: Life in the hole
oh so handwavilyattempted to see if some magic might make some headway on the walls of the cavern, but it appeared they were quite impervious to power tools, lightning, fire, and ice, and he didn't appreciate the beating the efforts seem to have done to his blades...And then there was just the idly gazing upwards, as if to spend away all the idle time.
Re: Life in the hole
Just then he heard the unmistaken sound of a scream echoing through the cavern. Dwight took off in the direction he thought it was coming from, and as he did, he hit the SEND button, sending off that text he had already typed out, hoping against all odd that maybe, maybe it would get out of the hole and get to Miguel, so he would at least know they were ok and still alive.
Moments later the phone died and with a sigh, Dwight slipped the phone back into his pocket and headed off to find the newest arrival to their ever-growing subterranean community.

He was poking around inside the bowling alley today. Mostly
pacingwalking around looking at things. At least it was something like a change of scenery.Re: Life in the hole
Though Stark would probably get the brunt of it because of emotions that needed to never be shared and all that.
"How many buildings are down here?"
Re: Life in the hole
"Did you bring one?" Stark asked, sounding resigned. "There's a house and the fire station and this one. If you brought one, then four."
