Efteling Theme Park, Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands: Thursday October 15 [Daytime]

Anakin yelled a LOT pulled some strings with Portalocity and so you arrive at the next park, Efteling in the Netherlands, so early it's not even open yet. Check into the hotel, grab breakfast and a shower and then enjoy a nice, normal, safe, un-haunted amusement park experience!

We're at Efteling, a fairy-tale themed amusement park located an hour and a bit from Amsterdam in the Netherlands (or pretty much Belgium). It's the third most visited park in Europe, getting more than 5 million visitors a year.

Attractions [10/15]

There's a ton to explore, but we recommend Villa Volta, Droomvlucht, Python, and Fata Morgana for rides, Fairytale Forest for the sheer magic, and the Holle Bolle Gijs--wastebins shaped like plump little boys--for the lols.

Fairytale Forest

Like, she'd taken the time for a shower so that she looked absolutely flawless (like usual, thanks) and then Nina had bounced on over to the park.

After studying the map intently...

Well, like, it was probably no surprise that she wound up exploring Fairytale Forest, was it?

Yesterday's park had been amazing because, psh, a little horror wasn't enough to put her off, but Nina was rather keen to be enthralled by a place designed to be right out of a story...

Monorail.

The weather was much nicer than any of Astrid's memories of living in the Netherlands, and it put her in a weird state of mind, to be wandering through this fairy tale world so close to a place where she used to live and sometimes felt like it had been imaginary in the first place.

The nice thing about the monorail, she figured, was that she could wander without physically moving. She had her sketchbook, too, but she was mostly just watching, taking it all in, likely to do the exact thing with the boat tour rides, and trying to convince herself that it would be a bad idea to try to figure out how hard it would be for a sixteen year old girl to somehow find her way to Amsterdam from here, especially since she didn't even know what she'd do once she got there.

When she got back to Fandom, T'Challa was going to receive a complete set of blueprints for a new amusement park to build in Wakanda.

So that's why Shuri was riding on allll the rollercoasters, starting with the Joris en de Draak wooden one: research!

There's a bunch of food to choose from but if you don't get at least one order of mini-pancakes, why are we even here?

Hotel

Yaaaaay, a hotel with electricity! Blow off the park for an hour to take a hot shower. Trust us, we understand.

Rooms

Students are in Comfort Rooms and the adults get themed rooms this time (first to ping, first to pick).

Room 10

Yesterday had basically been a day of tears for Elli.

The fact that she was sharing a room with a mountain lion was honestly not even in her head as she showered (grateful for the ability to do so) and then collapsed on a bed.

She might just stay there all day. Safe and secure.

Jules and Cam had opted to head for breakfast, and then a shower.

But before they headed back to the room, Jules made sure to pick out a plate full of food for Elli- a couple muffins, some fruit- the sort of things that would keep for a bit if one didn't eat them straight away.

It was a bit of a balancing act getting that plate all the way to the hotel room intact (there were definitely some grapes that had been lost to the hallway), but they did make it eventually. The plate got deposited on Elli's nightstand and Jules headed for the shower as Cam curled up on the other bed.

There are multiple options! Including a bar! It's probably a little early for the bar, though, but there is a breakfast buffet. Get a waffle. Get five.

After yesterday's particular tom fuckery, Wayne was more than relieved to go and get his day started with a proper breakfast again to fuel up before hitting the park and mebbe getting a chance to get over the disappointment of not actually getting those go-karts up and running in the long run...

Also, folks: Efteling is an absolutely lovely, and very old park with a Disney-esque backstory and some equally Disney-esque unfortunate choices; for our uses here, we're just going to call "they've already removed that, instead of incessantly discussing removing it" about a certain cannibal-themed ride that's still mentioned on the website.
