fh_trips | Camelot Theme Park, Lancashire, England [Wednesday night]

There are lots of wall sconces that have been lit with actual fire, so the shadows, like the hallways, are long and creepy. Your rooms are cramped, damp, and completely lacking in television (but definitely have spiders).

The doors are open when you arrive, but will lock from the inside. They're already made up with sheets and blankets and the bathroom has towels and tiny useless soaps, but don't expect internet today. Or room service. Or hot water.

The bed remakes itself the moment you leave the room. Toooootally normal.

Okay, so this was not at all what Summer envisioned for this year's room party, and the jello shots were just NOT happening, but she still had all the booze she was going to use to make them with! And they were stuck in a creepy old fake castle and having living people (no offense to the actual dead people in their group!) might be a super good thing ATM. So she sent out a text and spread the word to her fellow chaperone about her traditional Not At Caritas But We Can Still Drink! school trip room party.

Seriously, guys. What else were you going to do?

Well, this particular aforementioned could perhaps take a break from his attempts at wooing other dead people around this place to make an appearance at his adorable little manager-chan's room party! He had done well with all of her previous parties, after all, and, besides, someone had to bring the sake, right?

Okay, so granted his girlfriend had sent the invite. That was the main reason for coming to the party.

Even then if Summer wasn't his girlfriend, he'd still be coming to the party because there wasn't a damn good reason why supernatural shit was happening and Barry never took those kinds of things well. So. Distraction!

"So apparently all the rides which have no reason to work are now working out there," Barry complained to no one in particular. "Because there's no electricity. Or mechanical means why they should work. So of course they fucking work."

Barry uncharacteristically picked up a drink because it was going to be one of those nights.

Barry? Not exactly stoked about all these supernatural shenanigans? What a shocker.

He could at least get a sympathetic smile and a soft kiss on the cheek in greeting for the trouble then.

"So I take it that's probably a no on the post-party park prowl later? Also? Hi."

Barry was working up to a full steamed rant before that kiss so he took it down a notch. “Oh. Hi,” he said shaking off at least part of the ranty mood. “But I’m going on that crawl of that park. Because someone has to be the fucking voice of scientific thought for this bullshit place.”

Yes. That will totally show those ghosts, won’t it?

Summer needed to stop doing that, then, because that rant would have probably have been a ride all on its own.

"Who knows?" she offered. "Maybe you'll even be able to make some kind of breakthrough."

Unlikely! But she was trying to be supportive!

“Mmm. Only thing I’ll probably break is a fucking blood vessel in my brain,” Barry whined before taking a deep breath. “Hopefully the kids are enjoying this right?”

"I'm sure it's a pretty mixed bag," Summer said, honestly enough. "But this is a pretty Fandom thing to happen, isn't it? Here, have some theme parks! But, hey, one is actually haunted! Whoops!"

“I’d hate to be the travel agent who has to deal with Skywalker,” Barry said taking a sip of his drink. “Because that motherfucker is getting a new asshole before the end of this trip. That I’d like to see.”

"You know," said Summer brightly, "with their track record, I'd be surprised of it turned out that those gnomes in Portalocoty weren't at least eighty-five percent asshole by now, actually."

Rey had said she would be here, therefore she was. Still feeling off because everything was clearly haunted, but still!

Would drinks help there, y/n?

"Rey! I snuck some Dr. Pepper with me from the States because I didn't know if a European version would be too weird or not!"

Summer was a good bartender, dammit, even when she wasn't behind a bar.

"And it goes well with this whiskey!"

Because big fat Y on that question.

"Let's try it," she said. "I'm not sure if it'll help or hurt in this place but we'll see."

"Spirits out there," Summer cocked her head toward the door, "spirits in here." She lifted the bottle of whiskey, and went to mix Rey her drink.

"I'm still a little mad about the jello situation," she admitted, "but the more I think about it, it's probably for the best. I'd hate for someone to wind up with a shot of, like, ectoplasm instead of jello or something."

"That is not a thought I wanted to have, to be honest," Rey said, amused.

"Someone has to think of these things," Summer pointed out as she handed over Rey's drink. "That was actually a big concern I had about the jello shop. I mean, not ectoplasm, but what if I got some gelatin-like lifeforms coming in and super offend them by trying to serve then something that looks like their brother, you know?"

It hadn't actually been an issue, thankfully, but she'd thought about it a loooot.

"That's very thoughtful of you," Rey said, taking the drink with a nod of thanks. "I'm not sure it would have be an issue."

Though she couldn't say for sure.

"Yeaaaaah," Summer agreed, "your galaxy has way fewer blob-like lifeforms than mine."

It was almost as if something inherently made blobs or humanoids easier by design in one or the other, or something...

You know what? A party with alcohol sounded like a great idea. Miguel could pretend he could get drunk, or something.

It was better than dealing with the kitchen again.

"I used to think Fandom was old-fashioned. At least it has electricity."

Hi, Summer.

He plopped down some of the food they'd been able to make, in case there were people who hadn't wanted to brave the "restaurant".

"Oh?" asked Summer with a faint grin. "What? You're not a fan of this particilar spot taking the medieval thing way too seriously, plus ghosts?

"Hey, Miguel," she added. "How've you been? Can I get you anything?"

"It's like being surrounded by Thorites in Downtown back home," Miguel said. "Only just almost as dirty. And fewer annoying speeches. Hey, Summer. Whatever you've got to drink. How've you been?"

And that was how Miguel got himself a nice strawberry vodka spritzer.

"Just pretend it's in jello form," she suggested as she handed it over. "Obviously, I had to...readjust my usual...theme. But other than that, pretty good! Glad to see you swing by."

Miguel snorted. "I wouldn't dare swing; the ceiling would probably come down." He took the drink and sipped it. "Not bad. It's just unset jello."

He shrugged and changed the subject. "I met your boyfriend in Miles's world. He always curse like that, or is it a stress thing?" He'd been wondering.

Sorry, Summer just needed a moment to just sort of glow at someone she didn't even talk to very often using the term 'your boyfriend.' Because that was more than enough to distract Summer from judging you for that terrible joke, Miguel.

"Oh, that," she said, once the moment was over. Or, well, it wasn't going to be over anytime soon, but whatever. "Yeah, no, I'm pretty sure he'd actually die if he doesn't drop an F-bomb every five minutes or something."

Said, of course, with the utmost fondness.

Hey, Miguel knew him purely from Miles's world and radio, so "Summer's boyfriend" he was.

He snorted. "Must make his scientific presentations interesting." And meant if Barry actually did any, Miguel would be there with popcorn.

The chaperones got the kitchen to cooperate!

Kind of. Hope you're up for Renaissance Faire-esque, historically dubious food: turkey legs, meat onna stick, potatoes, funnel cakes, mead...

Do you really want to be in an abandoned amusement park as the sun goes down? You're teenagers with poorly developed senses of impulse control, of course you do!

Around midnight, if anyone is out there, the amusement park starts up, lights on, everything running, but nobody visible running it. Game stalls have balls and darts just left on the counters, and prizes will float over to winners, while losers get a giant floating scary see-through skull laughing at them and trying to chase them away. The carousel horses have red painted eyes and look generally evil, and they change their head and hoof positions when people aren't looking. The Cats of the Round Table are still going, and you can hear the clashes of lances at the jousting arena, but no one is there.

The roller coasters are running but the tracks are rusty and partially destroyed.

[OOC: Riders are safe if your character is the kind to get on something that screams "I AM A DEATH TRAP") but should be a little shaken after doing a loop on a track that isn't there.]

Don't ask her where she got the candy apple that she was snacking on, Adora. You... probably won't like the answer.

Asking where food came from was one of the many things that were discouraged by the Horde.

"Sure!" Adora did not have the good judgement ball today.

Was Illyana one of those people that would absolutely get on a ride that was screaming "I am a death trap" ?

Absolutely.

She did let out a started scream the first time she realized the 'coaster was going over tracks that didn't exist and teleported herself out of the ride on instinct.

So when she realized that it didn't fall to certain death, she was going to go on it about a dozen more times.

And it was entirely possible that anyone else in the park, wandering by, might find 'Yana chattering away in Russian over by the booths, apparently engaged in an animated conversation with... absolutely nothing visible.

After seeing Illyana going through the ride safely, Lana shrugged and waved as it paused for new riders. "Mind if I join you?"

"Hop on," 'Yana said, patting the seat next to her. "They really put effort into this, it's great."

Lana slid in. "I have to say I was skeptical. Ghosts where I'm from aren't generally interested in entertaining the living. Toying with them, absolutely, but nothing fun for anyone else."

She looked around, curious, as the train started off. "We don't have anything like this back home, though."

"Hello!" Wei Wuxian beamed at Illyana. He didn't know that roller coasters were supposed to always have tracks, so he hadn't been startled when they didn't. But he'd found the whole thing fascinating and had ridden it half a dozen times already. Now he was looking for food. "Do you know if there's somewhere to get - oh, hello!" He bowed to Illyana's ghost friend in apology. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt."

Her ghost friend looked mildly surprised, and 'Yana waived it off. "'S fine, we were just discussing how most people don't understand how much effort goes into a haunting like this. They don't normally get people who can appreciate it."

"It's good work. I'm very impressed," Wei Wuxian said. "I lived on a haunted mountain but we didn't invite anyone over for entertainment. Maybe they would have liked us better if we had." No, they wouldn't have, but it was a nice thought.

"The type of energy it takes to maintain coherent cohesion as a spirit -- instead of just devolving into a mere poltergeist -- is huge to start with, to have this many ghosts in one area, capable of doing all of this, is huge," 'Yana enthused, waving her hands to encompass all of the park. Sorry, Wei Wuxian, you'd walked in on Illyana in full magical-theory-nerd-mode. "It's amazing, seriously. They should all be proud of their work."

"Anyway, sorry, you were asking about something?"

Tomorrow we are in the Netherlands!
