Legoland: Billund, Denmark, October 11, 2020 [Sunday afternoon]

Welcome to Billund, Denmark, the happiest place on Earth if you're of an engineering disposition. This is the home of the Lego Corporation and also to Legoland. We'll get to the park tomorrow, but today is for exploring the ever so sliiiightly garish Legoland Hotel and maybe the town if you'd rather take a bit of a walk. (The town has fewer than 7000 inhabitants, so there's not a ton of town to see.)

It's a brisk 50 F/10 C and the sun will set at 6:30pm, so get out and look around before it gets too dark!

Right. Well. Okay, the rooms are distinctly unsexy, but you're only here for two nights so you can enjoy your Lego Friends or Ninjago rooms, students! (Odd room number assignments are Lego Friends Rooms, even numbers are Ninjago.) The adults have very boring business rooms and no, they will not trade.

Well, maybe Magnus will trade.

Rey didn't know a ton about Europe, but when she'd heard they'd be hopping all over she'd at least done a little bit of research.

This hotel had... not... been part of that research, and she'd been a little worried before she got to the very normal room. Which okay did feel a little boring in comparison?

And thus, a timeline was created in which Troy actually didn't have to lie about having been to Legoland so people would think he was cool, and it was awesome.

He was sort of squinting at his room with uncertainty about whether or not he had the right one...but he checked the number several times and it did match...

Okay, the room was very... bright... but honestly, Jules was a little more concerned about how her temporary roommate was going to react than the accommodations themselves.

Maybe Elli would miraculously get over her nervousness after spending a night in the same room as Camden?

Yeah. Jules doubted that. But she could hope!

Yeah. Maybe it might be best if Rosa just stuck to her room once they'd gotten there. The urge to go around breaking things around here for the soul purpose of seeing it made any kids cry was a little bit strong.

And you know, just to avoid the swarms of children in general.

Including...no, especially...the ones she came here with.

The entire town is a little more than 3 square miles (8 square kilometers), so it should be pretty tough to get lost.

Lego House offers the chance to build without the rollercoasters, or you can check out Givskud_Zoo! There's other place to explore, too!

Shuri--in three layers of clothing because a Wakandan girl was not built for Danish autumn--was in the Yellow Zone making an enormous submarine that looked like a dolphin to try out in the aquarium.

It was probable that she would have to be escorted from the building when it closed.

There was a park with a bunch of art, of course Sabine was wandering over here. And she was liking a lot of it! Maybe not the stuff that was still stuck on the Lego theme.

It would be difficult to keep Astrid in her room or even the hotel once they'd gotten there, memories of living in Europe when she was younger flooding back to her almost as soon as they arrived, and she took to exploring the small town as naturally as anything.

Of course, once she happened upon the Skulpturpark and the opportunity to wander around that and take in all the hidden surprises with the art scattered all around, especially since she felt compelled to stop and sketch most of them along the way.

Lego House - Red Zone.

You know, Amaya had mostly been planning to just wander around and scope this place out, but when she got to the Red Zone and considered the blocks, it wouldn't hurt just to see how a few of them fit together and see what all the fuss was about, right?

Not even ten minutes later, guess who was well on her way to constructing a complete Lego crumbler, and let's not even get started on where she'd be several hours later...
