Around and Aboard the Galapagos Legend, Friday, October 18, 2019

We're heading into our final stop this morning before heading back to Quito for the evening, but we've saved the best for last--if you count giant tortoises as the best and you should.

But for now, up and at 'em! Beat Beau to the gym!

"Oh." Keyleth fidgeted a little bit and chewed on her lower lip, wondering if she'd said something that wasn't socially advisable, or just awkward. She flailed around mentally for a second, trying to think of something to say. Something sort of sympathetic, or common ground-ish, or -- "I . . . never thought I'd be traveling to an entirely different world until my father told me I'd be coming here?"

"It's --" Keyleth laughed, a shaky but relieved sound. "Really different, but I don't hate it, at least. It helps that there are other people who had to adjust to it, too."

"Less," Keyleth said immediately, "or at least, less all concentrated in one place. I can't really speak for how things are on Fjord and Beau's side of the ocean, but in Tal'Dorei, even our biggest cities are pretty small compared to the ones I've been to here. At least from what I know of the populations there. I've never actually --"

She laughed again, self-consciously.

"Coming to Fandom was the first time I ever really left Zephrah."

"Oh, wow." Keyleth got momentarily distracted by a couple of dolphins, but could you really blame her for it?

She tried to piece together what she remembered of New York from Danger Shop simulations in class, but suspected that it was still impossible to get a really complete sense of the city's size just from that.

"And once you made it out into the world, did you . . . did you get homesick at all, even with so many new things to take in?"

"So not just me. That's nice to know." Keyleth leaned against the deck railing, just taking in the sea air; there was something about the breeze out on the ocean that was just different from the mountain winds she'd grown up with, and it was fascinating. "But you adjusted eventually. Obviously."
