Hotel Dann Carlton Quito, Sunday, October 13, 2019 [Quito, Ecuador]

After a slight misadventure through the portals that involved a very surprised Beaker, a show full of Muppets, and Anakin being shot from a cannon (he's fine, but his hair is ruined), the Fandomites arrived in Quito, Ecuador in the late afternoon, which was not enough time to go very far in their explorations, but enough to hit the Parque La Carolina, a 165.5 acre park in the center of Quito and a five minute walk from their hotel, the Dann Carlton Quito. Despite its location near the equator, the temperatures are very fall-like today, hovering around 72F (22C) until it cooled down even further when the sun went down at 6.

And by the time Sidon had shown up, Nina's imagination had decided that she was most definitely rooming with a guy and that it would be terrible, she would end up--oh, but ladies didn't wind up sharing a bed in the first place! Really, even sharing a room was making a grand and noble concession in the first place and now--

Then Sidon showed up and all her wildly swirling thoughts stuttered to a halt as she blinked up at him and then, relieved, burst into delighted laughter.

It all made sense now! Of course there was only one bed! There was a delightful soaking pool and naturally if one was rooming with Sidon then, why, a second bed wasn't needed!

"Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said delighted. "You have saved me, Sidon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Saved you, Nina?" asked Sidon, laughing with his own increased bout of delight...albeit maybe a little confused now, but how could he be anything but thrilled at the idea of saving someone without even apparently having to do anything? "Why, it is my honor, of course! But...forgive me for my ignorance on the matter, but what precisely have I saved you from?"

Whatever it was, he certainly hoped it was something daring and exciting!

It was! ... But mostly in her fevered imagination.

"From the terrible ignominy," that was the word you were going with, Nina? "of having a room shared with an undesirable sort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Nina beamed up at him.

"So, you see, you have saved me simply by being yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sidon, with another burst of a laugh, beamed down right back at her. "Then what excellent fortune it is for both of us that I should be me!" he declared, sweeping a pump of a fist forward and flashing an incredibly bright and proud grin. "And, by all means, Nina, should you ever need such a rescue again, I assure you I will be ecstatic to oblige! Though I can't for the life of me imagine what undesirable sorts you might have feared to fall in with on such a trip! However, you have my undying word and unbreakble pledge that I shall continue to protect you from them by striving to be completely, devotedly myself!"

"Then I can rest at ease," she said earnestly, clasping her hands to her chest. "After all, like, there is no one better and no one whose word I'd trust more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

A beat.

"Did you want to see the rest of the room???????????????????????"

"...yes," said Sidon, with gusto, after taking a beat himself, because it just seemed to fit the cadence of their conversation better. He flashed her another grin, before looking around to locate where he might suspect the bathroom would be located, and began to head that way. "I must admit, I am always far too concerned with the tub situation on these trips. I may be getting a bit more accustomed to sleeping in a bed when necessary, but it's rather preferred if I didn't--Ah!" He poked his head into the bathroom, flipping on the light, and beamed at the amenities discovered therin, before his head tilted back toward Nina. "I come bearing wonderful news, Nina! There is, indeed, a tub!"

And she, having already known that, saw no reason to puncture his excitement of the same.

"How delightful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, bouncing up to go and take a look herself. "Is it large enough for you?????????????????????? Should we complain to the management????????????????"

Nina would love to complain to the management, Sidon. Love it.

It was a bit on the smaller side, but it was rare to find tubs in hotel rooms that were big enough to suit him to his preferrences, and he might not be one to complain nearly as much as Nina was.

"It will suffice," he assured her with a chuckle and a bit of an adoring grin down at her for her enthusiasm. "There's no need to bring management into it, especially since I imagine it shall be nothing more than a place to settle my scales at the end of a long and thrilling day of exploration and excitement! Who knows what the day stil has in store for us, Nina? I don't know about you, but I certainly don't plan to spend much of our vacation here in a hotel room."

Not when there was going to be warm and beautiful oceans! There was a possibility Nina might not even see Sidon most of the week!

And Nina would miss his company, to be sure, but she'd not complain about having the room all to herself!

"That's true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she admitted. "I was, like, going to go for a walk once I'd gotten settled here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see what's out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"We shall at the very least," Sidon proposed, "set off on our own explorations, and convene here again in the evening to compare notes! That way, we shall leave no exciting thing undiscovered! And I know I would also like to see how Vette might be settling in as well, and you simply must alert me to anywhere that strikes you as particularly romantic, Nina, so that hopefully I might beat her to the punch and surprise her! And I know that if there is anyone here I can trust in that capacity, it would be you!"

What a wonderful, incredible idea!

"I'll, of course, do my very best to find a place that you and Vette might enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina said earnestly. "As a true ally of romance, I could do no less!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention, as well, being friends of both you and Vette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Really, the hardest part was going to be finding places that they'd enjoy more than she would if she were on a date... but, alas, she was still without romance in her own life.

"Fantastic!" said Sidon, pumping his fist.

There was going to be so much fist pumping in this room!

"Well, then!" he added brightly. "Let us not tarry a moment longer, Nina! I shall be off this way, I believe, and then perhaps you shall set your scopes in the opposite way, and who knows where our journeys will lead us! But, wherever we may roam, I look forward to hearing all about your adventrous exploits when we shall both return!"

"Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina chirped, digging around to grab her diary and, well, that was about it since everything else was either already on her or not likely to be needed for an afternoon of wandering...

Even her phone was on her, though she was vaguely concerned that it was, like, suspiciously silent on the Prompto front.
