Hotel Dann Carlton Quito, Sunday, October 13, 2019 [Quito, Ecuador]

After a slight misadventure through the portals that involved a very surprised Beaker, a show full of Muppets, and Anakin being shot from a cannon (he's fine, but his hair is ruined), the Fandomites arrived in Quito, Ecuador in the late afternoon, which was not enough time to go very far in their explorations, but enough to hit the Parque La Carolina, a 165.5 acre park in the center of Quito and a five minute walk from their hotel, the Dann Carlton Quito. Despite its location near the equator, the temperatures are very fall-like today, hovering around 72F (22C) until it cooled down even further when the sun went down at 6.

Jacuzzi

Anakin had taken a long shower trying to get all of the feathers (don't ask) out of his hair and was now sulking in the jacuzzi.

Trust Beaker, who didn't even go here anymore, to manage to ruin his trip already.

"Don't do that," Lucifer called as he wandered by to check out the amenities. "There's no scowling in the jacuzzi, you'll destroy the whole feng shui of the place!"

"Yes," Lucifer said promptly. "We are marginally closer to China than we are in your hovel of a town."

"It's not a hovel!" Anakin said. "I grew up in a hovel. Fandom has...ice cream and multiple bars."

Kennedy just happened to be passing by on her way to the sauna, and smothered a laugh behind her hand before she waved at him.

Some things were so comfortingly consistent.

"Didn't say a wooooooord," Kennedy singsonged in return, drawing a halo in the air over her head with her fingers.

Nobody would believe that, Kennedy. Nobody.

Though it was true, she hadn't said anything right then.

Kennedy couldn't muffle the totally inelegant snicker-snort this time.

"I missed all this, you know?"

The trips in general, but also Anakin's unparalleled penchant for drama.

"Let's go with that answer, sure," Kennedy said, grinning. "Is that -- it looks like a piece of down behind your ear there?"

Or it could have been jacuzzi foam, or whatever. She just couldn't resist teasing him right back.

Which, by the way, was still a little bit surreal when she remembered they were colleagues now.

Anakin flailed for the offending maybe-feather and came up with nothing. "You're not funny."

She was hilarious. Anakin just had no sense of humor.

"Yeah," Kennedy said, heaving a very affected put-upon sigh while still grinning. "Good thing I don't do comedy for a living, huh?"

Then, more seriously (a little bit): "You're okay though, yeah?"

"I'm fine, just...fluffy," Anakin said, making a face. "I haven't missed Beaker's particular brand of insanity."

That wasn't entirely true. He appreciated it fine when it was directed at him.

Kitty was just passing by on the way find the gym for a bit, and had to stop to and say, "It looks like you've got a little..." and gesture to a spot on her own head.

"Then, uh, how'd that happen?" Kitty asked, going directly against the narrative direction not to.

"Anakin, I'm a little worried about you right now."
