Reykjavík, Iceland [Sunday afternoon into evening, February 17, 2019]

Fandomites arrive in Reykjavík around 2pm, which is plenty of time to explore the city before the sun goes down at 6. Museums and shops are open, and it's a good time to take advantage of buying warm Icelandic sweaters and cute boots before we head out to the wilder parts of the country tomorrow. We won't make it back to Reykjavík until Friday afternoon, after all, and there's a ton to see here!

The hotel is all ready for us to check in as well, if you'd rather just settle in and enjoy the spa and the room service.

Kitty was good and remembered first thing to call down and ask for a crib to be brought up. While they were waiting, she was procrastinating on unpacking the stuff they'd really need (all Lexi's) and instead brought her to the window to say, "You see all that? You get to freeze your tiny butt off out there but at least it's pretty."

Let no one be shocked. There were a lot of museums and artsy places that Sabine wanted to hit, but this was where she was spending the bulk of her time, taking pictures when she could of the things she really liked.

So far she was big on Iceland.

Beaker meeped his way into his room with his amazing knit cap on and made himself very comfortable for the night in the bathtub.

Which...sure.

Paris was going to buy all the things. She was from Connecticut! Awesome sweaters were something her family might actually wear!

And then she got yarn, too. If she was going to be stuck on a bus for a week, she might as well learn how to knit and/or stab her fellow students for being annoying.

Well, this was a terrible idea. Rosa was feeling pretty convinced right now that this week was pretty much just going to end with her hating Tightpants' guts. Or him hating hers. Or some newfound mutual hatred that easily went both ways.

So, overall, maybe save themselves the couple of months it might have taken to come around to that natural conclusion all by themselves.

Still, better to be stuck rooming with a known quantity than an unknown one if she was stuck rooming with anyone at all. She'd lucked out last time with Baby Guidance Counselor, but there was no telling what she'd get this time around. Blackstone and her snoring? Baby Linetti? That awful new bartender?

And who knew? Maybe it could actually turn out well.

Right.

Either way, she was hoping to just drop off her stuff and get a quick scope of the place before heading out and not even having to worry about any of that until later when it'd be kind of hard to avoid.

If asked, Kat would say that she was here to help support the local economy and get things that weren't mass produced in stores. But really, she'd underestimated how much she'd need in the cold weather clothes department and also needed some sweaters.

"You with knitting needles seems dangerous," Kat said, though she said it approvingly.

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard for anyone to figure out where Astrid had hidden herself, after stopping by at the Eiriksson statue for a quick sketch for her letters to Ingrid and the cathedral for a few quick sketches for herself. She'd be spending every other second she could wandering the art museum, contemplating trying to make sure she hit the notable pieces, but finding it was much more fun just to drift around and see where she wound up.

Well. Iceland did have one thing going for it so far that Greece hadn't had...

"Oh, thank goodness!" came Sidon's voice from the bathroom, as that was immediately where he went after dropping off the few things he had (mostly uncomfortable cold weather clothes) on one of the beds (which had received a rather distasteful look). "We have a tub!"

It was without a question too small for him, of course, but that wasn't the point. It was the principle of the matter, and just seeing that he'd have the option helped him to feel like this trip was getting off on just the right foot.

And it was a terribly good thing he hadn't wound up rooming with Beaker, too, apparently.

Well, Beamer would have probably imploded somehow.

"Is that a good thing?" Look, he was still getting used to the wonders of indoor plumbing.

"Imagine running into you here," noted Astrid, nodding a greeting to Sabine because they were really bound to run into each other at this place eventually.

"It's so unlike us, I know," she smiled. "There's so much here, I'm actually not sure I can get to everything in time."

"Oh, why, yes," said Sidon, grinning broadly as he popped his head out from the bathroom because it seemed rather rude to be just shouting from the other space at his new, temporary roommate. "But of course! It is absolutely marvelous, really, an incredible relief. To both myself and you as well, I should imagine. The last place we visited had but a mere shower...and not even that for the second leg!...and having little choice but to sleep either outside or in a bed had left me quite out-of-sorts and, dare I say it, rather cranky. And since sleeping outside is not likely to be an option here due to the unfavorable climate for such things, it pleases me to inform you that I'll not be so cantankerous a roommate. At this particular locale, anyway."

"My therapist told me that crafting would be good for learning to relax, plus I can stab people if they get annoying," Paris said. "Win-win."

"I know," Astrid's shoulders sagged slightly, and she sighed, but she had a smile back for Sabine all the same. "This is easily a couple-of-days thing, not a squeeze-in-what-you-can-before-they-close one, but at least something is better than nothing, and I"m sure there's going to be plenty more ahead. I've been looking forward to this..." She shook her head a little, looking around as if actually a little amazed she was there, "a lot."

"Big fan of Iceland?" Sabine asked.

She sort of was, just by finding out about the Northern Lights in her research about this place.
