Zakynthos, Wednesday Morning/Afternoon

It was another nice, 23-to-25 degrees celsius kind of day - or somewhere in the mid-seventies, for those of a less European persuasion. The water was still warm from summer and the shops and restaurants were still open for business for a few more days.

Of course, today, there were also a bunch of shuttles sitting outside the studio complex, in case people wanted to leave Limni Keri behind and go elsewhere for the day.

Hotel

Hotel Phoenix is ready for your very first full day of exploration! It's a little sleepy as you get up, but you're sleepy, too, so that works out.

Rooms

This large apartment complex holds many a 2-3 person, one bedroom studio. Each studio is 280 square feet, a neat bathroom, a small living room with a couch and a nice sitting area outside. There's also a small kitchenette, to make up for the lack of a restaurant next door.

The bedroom holds two single beds or a double depending on what's funniest.

Breakfast

For today, the hotel's owner has graciously set out a big Greek breakfast in the common area. Tomatoes and cucumber, rolls of local bread, Greek yogurt with honey and fruit, tea and coffee and more: take your pick of the spread, and enjoy.

Like Prompto would ever not be down for breakfast, and he was glad the fare was fairly light, too, because he was going to be tempted to help himself to a lot of it. He was a little disappointed that none of it really seemed like they'd make for good doggy snacks that he could sneak away for Dark Nation, but a quick trip to the village would solve that problem easily enough.

He was going to wind up spending more money on that dog that wasn't even his than he was spending on himself, at this point.

Grounds

There isn't a great deal to do per se, on-site. But the area is beautiful, all hills and olive trees, and the space around the hotel itself might make for a relaxing walk.

Or you could gather up in the common area, sit down on the pillows on the foor, grab a seat at a table. Read something from the hotel's small collection of books or watch television - it's up to you.

One of the things Astrid hadn't had a chance to capture in her sketchbook yet was the hotel itself so, after grabbing a little bit of food to take with her, she went to settle somewhere that gave her a good angle of the place and set to work diligently between bites, a task that would easily suck up most of her day, barring any potential interruptions or distractions.

She'd turn it into a postcard, send it to her mother. Glad You Aren't Here, though it wouldn't exactly be the truth.

Limni Keri

Keri Boardwalk

A narrow street cuts between the restaurants on one side and the marina on the other. The restaurant-side is littered with small tavernas, all offering traditional Greek food in different styles. Are you in the mood for moussaka or mixed grill? Pick a restaurant, have some food.

Or steal into one of the small supermarkets if you'd rather stock up to eat in your apartment.

Taverna Keri

Once again, Fjord was out and about in his himself-but-human illusion, this time taking in the local restaurants along the boardwalk. The marina was still more his speed, perhaps, but there was some sort of rustic charm about sitting at a neat little table in a neat little taverna, pointing at seafood dishes at random on a menu and then navigating his way around a plate full of squid or some manner of noodle dish full of shellfish, all while watching small fishing boats go by on the water.

If this was a place where he had any hope of learning more about magic, he'd probably even be more tempted to stay.

Keri Marina

There are many booths offering turtle and dolphin sight-seeing tours, as well as tours of the nearby caves. You can also negotiate for extremely fresh fish from the fisherman coming in with their hauls throughout the day. And then you have a fresh fish, so good luck with that.

Fenris was investigating the marina. He was more or less looking for an unwatched boat in a less than completely conspicuous area.

Mostly for Fjord. A little just because he was that bored and feeling puckish.

Keri Beach

Local hotels and restaurants sell seats and parasols all along this beach. It looks a little rough, at first: there are rocks all along the waterline. But cross the one foot's worth of pebbles and stones and you'll suddenly find nothing but sand and shallow water for a long stretch. In fact, you'd have to walk almost a hundred feet to find water that came any higher than your hips. Grab a spot, a parasol and a snack!

Norman wasn't really here to go swimming, nah. But there was a chair in the shade with his name on it, and he'd lugged a small stack of comic books along, all of them utterly ridiculous, in order to read them while enjoying the whole... ambiance of the place.

He could get used to this, maybe.

Sabine had a plan for today, but she decided to come out here first. It was pretty, she could stand to look at it two days in a row.

"Do I?" Norman grinned up at Sabine over the pages of a particularly absurd zombie comic, and shrugged a little. "I don't know, I think mostly I'm just enjoying the change of scenery while I do the same stuff I would do at home. I was all over the place, last school trip."

And this time he'd actually packed accordingly and he hadn't strayed beyond the beach yet.

Vette had plans to have Sidon show her around town today. She had plans! To have Sidon! Show her around town! Which was kind of a lot, honestly, for one Vette to process, since she'd mostly thought of it as a way to keep an eye on him - she was kind of worried about him, given what Nina had told her - and somehow it had metamorphosed into some kind of grandiose cave adventure that invovled her riding on his back while he navigated the waters here, and it didn't at all hurt that he was ridiculously charming, and--

Anyway, breakfast. Whatever they had planned for the day - and Vette had no doubts it would be big no matter what it was, because she was going to be doing it with Sidon - they were going to start with breakfast. Out here on the beach where she felt more than a little bit conspicuous, even tucked away under one of the parasols and with a scarf pulled up over her head to obscure her lekku a little.

She might have stolen some fruit and bread from the breakfast at the hotel, mostly because not leaving the place meant not eating much since she'd gotten here, but she was also pretty game to try whatever it was Sidon was having, too.

As if anything attempted to be planned with Sidon would turn into anything less than some grandiose adventure! And meeting at the beach for breakfast was a fine way to start, as well, especially as Sidon had ultimately decided that he couldn't stay in his room last night, not by himself, not when there were plenty of caves and coves to tuck himself away into where he'd at least have the sound of the water to lure him into sleep while his heart and mind jumbled around inside of him with the effort for prominence when all he wanted was to be well-rested for the full day ahead of him.

And maybe it also afforded him the opportunity to try to show off a little, though the distance of shallow water spreading out from the beach made it impossible to pull off a leap directly from the depths. But he could pull off a leap into the shallows, landing in a low crouch and hoping he'd managed to get a good flick of water from his headtail in the light of the rising sun before jogging easily toward the beach, waving an arm when he spotted that Vette was already there.

"Good morning, Vette!" he called, all smiled when he finally got close. "I haven't kept you waiting long, have I?"

Excursions

It's your last full day on Zakynthos, so you might as well see some of the island, right?

Shipwreck Beach

This site on the other side of the island is one of the most famous places in Zakynthos. (You're all lucky: it's been reopened just last week after a rockslide destabilised the area last month.) A small boat takes you into this gorgeous beach between the cliffs. It's a beautiful stretch of sand interrupted only by the large shipwreck that sits neatly in the middle.

A great place for swimming - or poking around the metal innards of a ship. It's up to you.

Club Cameo

This nightclub isn't just a club: it's a whole small island, situated just off the coast of the city of Agios Sostis: you have to walk down a long bridge and up tall stairs to get here. There is a small restaurant slash bar up on the high end of the rock, allowing for a marvelous view over the coast. On the other side of the island, the stairs carry you down to a private beach. Music plays here, and large pieces of white cloth hang from a rope pulled from one end of the rock above to the other, providing a relaxed atmosphere.

The 'night' in the word 'nightclub' is debatable at Club Cameo, as it is primarily open to the public during the morning and the early afternoon, while the site is used for weddings later in the day .

Well, since the kids were obnoxiously well behaved, Rosa figured it wouldn't hurt to spend some time out here, because this place was actually cool as hell, and she relaxed a little on the beach, while her head went through some mental math regarding some of her real estate and shell corporations ot figure out what it would take to get in on a private island.

She totally needed a private island.

Traditional Zante Market

Or take the shuttle further inland. You won't find beaches here, but there is a long stretch of road in one of the local villages where Zakynthians sell their wares. Let the nice families help you pick out from a staggering amount of goods, from flavored olive oils to candles, from pretty azure bowls to dresses and carpets.

And this was definitely where Amaya's little merchant heart would be that day, feeling all too easily at home with people offering out the results of their own hard work with an appreciation for the craftsmanship and the tradition. She wasn't big on stuff in general, sure, but she might have to pick up a souvenir or two anyway.

The market seemed like the best way to discover the culture of this place, so Lana was here. She was interested to see there were a couple local tombs as well, which she would definitely visit.

The clothes they had for sale weren't her sort of thing, but she did manage to find a nice leather belt with a holster pouch that, whatever its intention, would hold her lightsaber.

There were also sweets and some interesting oils, so she bought some of the former to eat and share, and some of the latter out of curiosity.
