Limni Keri, Zakynthos, Monday Evening

The village of Limni Keri laid a little whiles out from the Portalocity terminal at Zakynthos's capital of Zante, but it was a pleasant trip full of beach views, tall hills and olive trees. The village itself was small, its various shops, homes and restaurants spread out across a square mile and a half, ending on a quiet beach.

The shuttle took them to a pretty yellow apartment complex. It held no restaurant, but the owners had left a spread of Greek mezedes behind for the arriving guests. Of course, if you were truly hungry, you could always take a stroll along the beach and pick one of the adorable Greek tavernas that lined the coast.

Come in, settle in. Enjoy the warm temperatures of Greece, and the sound of the surf.

Villa Phoenix is a large apartment complex, situated within a small forest of olive trees and within three minutes' walking distance from the beach. The grounds are full of pink flowers and palm trees.

The whole place exudes warmth.

This large apartment complex holds many a 2-3 person, one bedroom studio. Each studio is 280 square feet, a neat bathroom, a small living room with a couch and a nice sitting area outside. There's also a small kitchenette, to make up for the lack of a restaurant next door.

The bedroom holds two single beds or a double ~~depending on what's funniest~~.

Villa Phoenix doesn't get rented out completely very often, so to welcome the new guests, the hosts have graciously put on a large spread of mezedes of all types. Local honey features heavily, as does olive oil from the region.

And yogurt. So much yogurt.

There isn't a great deal to do per se, on-site. But the area is beautiful, all hills and olive trees, and the space around the hotel itself might make for a relaxing walk.

Or you could gather up in the common area, sit down on the pillows on the foor, grab a seat at a table. Read something from the hotel's small collection of books or watch television - it's up to you.

A narrow street cuts between the restaurants on one side and the marina on the other. The restaurant-side is littered with small tavernas, all offering traditional Greek food in different styles. Are you in the mood for moussaka or mixed grill? Pick a restaurant, have some food.

Or steal into one of the small supermarkets if you'd rather stock up for the days ahead.

It's late out, and the sun has lowered itself into the sea. The many booths offering turtle and dolphin sight-seeing tours, as well as tours of the nearby caves, are closed for the evening.

But you can still rent a small rowboat and paddle around the length of Keri's sizable cove, if you'd like. Or you can sit here and watch the fishermen return with their daily haul.

During the day, local hotels and restaurants sell seats and parasols along this beach. But they've packed up for home, leaving just a long stretch of beach, dotted with a neat even line of palm trees just before the sand slopes down towards the water.

It looks a little rough, at first: there are rocks all along the waterline. But cross the one foot's worth of pebbles and stones and you'll suddenly find nothing but sand and shallow water for a long stretch. In fact, you'd have to walk almost a hundred feet to find water that came any higher than your hips.

Ah, Zakynthos. I miss you.

Okay, Karolina was already in love with this place. The building was cute, the weather was nice, and she was just ready to take a week off from her studies and her work both and explore a new environment.

Which meant that right after she'd plopped her bag on the bed she was designating hers, she was busy looking at a brochure about Zakynthos. Because of course she'd already gotten her hands on one.

Aphra flung herself on the best looking bed. "Dibs!"

This was going to be a long week.

Jughead had seriously considered going to Riverdale for the break instead of this school trip. But, he just... really didn't feel like dealing with Riverdale right now. So here he was.

Standing on the deck thing looking at the view and once more wondering how the school paid for all this.

So this had potential, Sabine decided, tossing her stuff by the nearest bed and going straight to look out the window.

And there probably wasn't anything Paris could get competitive about in here, right?

Sabine got some dinner, then headed out to the common area with a drink to grab a book and read up about the area. Tomorrow she'd do some exploring, with better light.

This place seemed pretty okay, and when Rosa got her room number and opened the door to find Perky Blonde Hippie sitting on one of the beds already, she thought to herself: Well. This could be worse.

Apparently, the free vacation was having her feel downright optimistic today.

"Roommates, huh?" she said as she went to toss her suitcase full of black jeans and leather jackets on the other bed and then headed to the window for an idle eyeful of the view.

Lana enjoyed the warmth and breeze, and opened the doors to the sitting area when she got to the room. She spent a bit of time familiarizing herself with everything, and eyed the kitchenette with a bit of consternation. "We're not supposed to cook, are we?"

Unless they had microwaved popcorn, she supposed she was in for a crash course. Even if that course was in "how to find local food".

Astrid swung by her assigned room, taking it as an encouraging sign that the number matched her usual room number, but mostly to drop off her stuff, to get a feel for the space, and to dig out one of her sketchbooks from her suitcase. They were losing light to the evening, but catching some of the vistas in the twilight would make for some excellent shadow work, and the last thing she'd want to do was stick around in room in a new, gorgeous country.

Nina looked up from where she was making sure her trunk was settled just so with a laugh.

"Well, they wouldn't give us a kitchen if we weren't supposed to cook, would they?????"

Very like Costa del Sol indeed, Rufus thought, as he wandered into his room and... Dark Nation promptly claimed the bed closest to the door.

"That's not yours," he said reproachfully, making his way to the bed further away and sitting on it. "That's for... my roommate."

A politer person would just accept that bed as their own, now that there was likely dog hair on it, as Dark Nation flopped on it. Rufus wasn't that sort of person, though, and he always slept in the bed furthest from the door.

"Ahhhh! The rooms are so pretty!" Alluka was absolutely delighted as she flitted about the room, setting her elephant on one of the beds--that one was hers, unless her roomie wanted it--and then inspecting the bathroom and the living room and the sitting area outside.

The kitchen was checked long enough to confirm that they had no food--tragic--and then abandoned.

Sidon was...feeling a little better, now that he'd had a chance to talk with someone and arriving at this place that reminded him a bit of the Faron region back home helped, as well. Anywhere near water was bound to make him feel more comfortable, and he could already imagine spending most of his time out there, but for now, he went to his room, just to check it out and maybe scope out what the bathtub situation might be like. One had to adapt during journeys like this, after all...

...including adapting to no bathtub, just a shower, and Sidon tried not to sigh, but he couldn't help it, flopping back on the bed and staring up at the ceiling and wondering if the locals were the types to think some giant shark-like fellow sleeping in their coves was some sort of worrisome monster that needed to be rooted out or if he'd be left to his own.

He couldn't help feeling that this week was going to be a very long week, indeed.

"I have no idea." Lana checked the refrigerator. "They didn't give us food, so maybe not. Unless we're meant to source it ourselves. And I have no idea how to use this equipment." She eyed the stove. It seemed fairly simple, but she'd still prefer not to.

Simon was more than happy to let Alluka have that bed, flopping down onto the other with a contended sigh. "Yeah, this is pretty great," he agreed. He leaned up enough to see Alluka and grinned at her. "So do we get trips like this very often? Like, I've heard of spring break, but I never thought of the idea of taking a fall break before."

[Suuuuper SP for the next little; I'm doing volunteer scheduling. SO MUCH VOLUNTEER SCHEDULING.]

She opened the door to their sitting area and grinned at him through the glass, before she pulled her head back in to actually answer him.

"Um, usually twice a year we go places," she said, having to think about that. "Once in the spring, and once in the fall. Sometimes people invite each other to their places for holidays in the summer and the winter, but that's not school organized."

"That's, like, usually how it goes on these sorts of things????" Nina offered. "Like, there's places to buy food, if you want to hit up restaurants but you can also, like, go to the grocery store and buy things to make your food, if you'd rather?????"
