Hotel

We're at the Shangri-La Guilin, the nicest hotel in the city, overlooking the Li River.

Rooms

For the final leg of our journey, the school has splashed out on rooms, putting everyone up on the Horizon Club level with access to the Club Lounge and truly spectacular river views from each room. You get a coffee, tea, or juice of your choice delivered to your room when you wake up this morning.

Restaurants

Try out the Li Cafe, Shang Palace, the U Bar or the pizza place over by the pool if you're worn out from the day's exertions.

Apparently, the staff at the restaurant didn't get a lot of requests like "Just give me whatever you have that still has the faces on it," but if it was their last day here, then Amaya was going to go all out with it.

Pools and Spa

The indoor pool is open until 11pm, as is the spa and sauna. Enjoy all of them!

Club Lounge

Did someone say free drinks? Hell yeah, they did. Free drinks and nibbles are available in the lounge all evening, you lucky ducks.

Summer had been pretty on top of picking out some gifts and souvenirs for people back home (the island, that was, though she did pick up a few things for her family, too), but that didn't mean she couldn't still get a few more last minute things and maybe a little something extra for herself.

May we recommend the Forrest Gump Restaurant? They have extremely good braised pork and taro slices, as well as sour and spicy rice flower fish.

The hotel recommends both Baidu Bar and Amani Bar for expats.

Brooke had spent a weird amount of this trip in bars, for someone who’s guven up the party girl thing, but it wasn’t like she was doing anything bad. Actually it was pretty neat to go out and meet people and maybe get a little inspired for her next collection (hopefully without it being cultural appropriation).
