The sun rose on another beautiful day of crisp weather, clear skies, and plenty of things to keep oneself occupied at the halfway point of our week. If you haven't gone outside much (aside from the skiing), today was a good chance!

There are four huts (well, huts that sleep eight and have saunas, living rooms, and fireplaces, so your definition of hut may vary), and everyone is paired up for sleeping (in rooms with either a double bed or bunk beds depending on which is funnier to you, with shared living space for the eight of you to mingle, roast marshmallows, throwing raging parties involving schnapps, etc.

Was that a zombie in the living space of Hut 1 that morning? No, it was just Summer, finally seeming to recover enough from her first attempts at skiing to actually attempt to move around. It wasn't going too well, and she was wondering how the hell she could survive Nuclear Apocalypse Land and My Grampa Transported a Federal Space Prison Into a Citadel of Himselves Land just fine, but somehow, skiing was beating the pants off of her.

Well, it wasn't so much the skiing as the falling. And maybe one incident with a tree that she wasn't going to talk about.

There's good news and bad news, Hut 3: The good news is that Steve didn't wake any of you up to go on his morning run with him and was now back and making coffee for everyone.

The bad news is that it's like 6:15 in the morning.

As soon as Kitty woke up and smelled the coffee, she walked out into the living room with pajamas on and bedhrad and said, "No."

She didn't say it loud, though, because her head hurt.

At least it was more the time of day than being hungover that left Tony looking a bit like a zombie as he followed the smell of coffee. "Vacation is supposed to mean sleeping in."

It made up for all things. And caused Tony to beam at him for a split second before he was distracted by drinking his coffee.

So, on the upside, apparently it was possible to actually put on a winter coat over the king cobra who had wrapped himself around Jonothon's torso. And said cobra did, in fact, appreciate life inside a warm winter coat even more than he did being simply wrapped around Jonothon.

On the downside, if Jono made any move to leave the hut today, he found himself being growled at, and the aforementioned cobra would proceed to try to nose his way through his wrappings and into his sodding chest. And was now also taking exception to Jonothon taking the coat off again, too.

So here was Jonothon, sitting in one of the cozier looking chairs and reading a book. In his winter coat. Which was occasionally growling at him if he moved a certain way.

Breakfast Time (10/11 Day)

Rolls and jam, bread and ham, bread and Nutella? Maybe one of each! And coffee. So much coffee.

Mandatory Fun on the Slopes (10/11 Day)

The lodge helpfully provides buses to take us to our ski lessons. Sadly for you, those buses leave way sooner than your teenaged selves want to get up for it. Here you are provided with ski equipment and ski instructors for your group as you self-select for level of skiing prowess. Please keep the number of broken legs to a minimum, gang. You all survived yesterday, right?

Snacks Instead of Skiing! (10/11 Day)

You could go skiing some more after the lesson, OR you could drink hot chocolate and try to get feeling back into your feet.

We're so outdoorsy, omg. It's like skiing, but you get way cooler things to wear on your feet!

Sidon was way, way, way too into snow-shoeing. They were cool things on his feet. They were like...bigger versions of his own feet! And, besides, they just fit his feet better than those skis, which didn't really work out with his balance because of his different proportions, and he got to enjoy nature! so much better on snow-shoes, and he was freezing his little fish butt off despite his layers, but he didn't care, it was exciting and he had hot chocolate to look forward to, and let's just say he was really...warming up to this place despite its challenges for him.

Sidon laughed as he waved back. "Oh, I think it's absolutely marvelous!" he gushed, kicking up a little extra snow on the end of his snowshoe. "I do rather enjoy the speed at which one can whiz down those hills, not unlike cliff and waterfall diving back home, but taking the slower way allows one to cherish all this beautiful landscape! What a spectacular countryside! It's just so exquisite!"
