Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hütten, Tyrol, Austria [Monday, daytime]

Good morning Fandom High students, teachers, and assorted guests! Ready to hit the slopes? The answer had better be 'yes', because that's what was happening today whether you liked it or not. Once your lesson was done, of course, you were free to do as you wished, whether that was continue hurtling down a mountain at ridiculous speeds while strapped to long sticks, or go warm up with some delicious hot beverages.

Jono maintained that Hannibal's hat was the stupidest hat in Austria.

//It's all familiar stuff,// he noted, once there was a break in the lesson. //You picking up anything new at all?//

That was because Jono had no sense of fashion.

"Nothing new," Hannibal answered, "but a few reminders. It's good to have it in the front of my mind."

As the instructor wrapped up, Hannibal turned to Jono and smiled. "Shall we?"

Jono had a fantastic sense of fashion. Case in point: It didn't involve earflaps.

//Let's,// Jono replied, nodding. //It'll be strange doing this without half as many trees to run into, y'know. I probably could've faked my way through expert anyhow.//

Now was probably not the time for second thoughts, there.

Maybe he'd take the class again tomorrow if today went well.

It was just about all black, half jeans, and dotted with occasional holes.

"I might have been able to as well, but it's been some time," Hannibal said. "Your last time was Glacia?"

There was also the very, very occasional flannel!

Very occasional.

//Mm,// Jono agreed. //As a somewhat larger, bluer man. Not much opportunity to ski since, really.//

Flannel wasn't much of an improvement. Even if it was at least plaid.

"And your balance will be completely different now." Hannibal nodded. "So perhaps this isn't a bad place to start. You can always switch to advanced tomorrow."

Flannel was comfortable without looking stupid. And leather was always in style!

//True enough. I've still got the theory, and it isn't as though I'm out of shape, but tackling a few intermediate slopes for th'time being is probably for the best.// He let out an amused little flicker of emotion. //Either way, this is already going better than th'last time I was in the Alps.//

"Oh?" Hannibal smiled. "Tell me about that time."

//Not a hell of a lot to tell, these days,// Jono replied after a pause. //Kurt grabbed me and teleported to get us out of the path of an explosion, we wound up in the bloody mountains, and it took bloody forever for me to be able to contact somebody who gave enough of a shite to come and get us, because Warren ignored anybody who told him that we might not be dead.//

Jono came by his loathing of Warren honestly, really.

//Got through to Mira, instead,// he added, after another brief silence. //Once she stopped yelling at me to stay out of her head, she made bloody certain someone came to get us.//

Which they did more for Kurt than for him, no doubt, but it was still nice that she had cared.

Damn, he missed Mira.

"I'm pleased they did," Hannibal said. "It can't have been pleasant. I take it Kurt was incapacitated?"

Jono shook his head a little.

//Not quite. Emotionally, perhaps? He hadn't contacted the X-Men. Didn't want to. We argued about it...//

He shrugged.

//Old story now. I daresay he wasn't pleased when I managed by some bloody miracle to call Mira from halfway across sodding Europe.//

Jono, meanwhile, had simply been really damn surprised he'd pulled it off.

"Perhaps you should have marched down the mountain and left him there," Hannibal suggested. Anybody who didn't want to be rescued...

//... They're big mountains, Hannibal. And it was winter. In the middle of nowhere.//

Not that it would have killed Jono or anything, but he really would have preferred the rescue.

//Which isn't to say I wasn't tempted.//

"I certainly see why you aren't close to them," Hannibal said. "They don't seem terribly considerate. Or bright."

Jono gave his shoulders a shrug.

//All three are dead or something near to it now,// he noted. //But at the time, I was th'new kid. Apparently that was all it took to immediately dismiss everything that came out of my proverbial mouth as nonsense. Hell, even Scott parked my arse in the passenger seat and told me to keep the Blackbird's engine's warm most of the time.//

In fairness, Scott was a dick to everyone.

//Logan's the only one who ever really bothered. S'why he got the invite to the wedding. Er. That first attempt, anyway.//

"And why we have that lovely commemorative picture," Hannibal said, grinning.

//I'm going to put that right in th'lobby of the Jean Grey School when he's not looking, just wait and see,// Jono said, amusement creeping back into his voice. //It'll serve him right.//

For what? Who knew?

He'd likely done something at some point deserving it.

"Only a copy," Hannibal cautioned, though he suspected Jono knew better than to offer the original.

//Honestly now, you think I don't know better'n to give a man with foot-long claws access to the original? Of course I'm gonna make a copy. Gonna have it tripled in size for the occasion, too. He's just lucky I'm not havin' it put up on a billboard.//

...

//But that's tempting, too.//

Hannibal smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Whatever you do, don't mention that possibility to Quentin."

The billboards would line the road.

//You know, what I'm hearing here is that I should think about doing it very loudly, so he can't possibly miss it,// Jono noted, a little smirk in his own face. //And hey, that way it'll be that little bastard getting in trouble for it, won't it?//

Normally Jono wouldn't sound so gleeful about that, but Quentin kind of had it coming. And besides, he could handle himself.

"Would I suggest such a thing?" Hannibal asked innocently.

//Beautiful thing about marrying a telepath, mm? You don't need to.//

Jono gave Hannibal a wink, and then pushed off with his skis toward the slopes.
