As the sun goes down, so do the temperatures. Tonight has edged towards freezing: perfect weather for hearty soups, strong schnapps, and sitting by fires doing a whole lot of nothing.

Down in the Valley

Once in Fügen, the après ski really sets off: whether under an umbrella or in the bars, skiers (and people pretending to be skiers) party, dance, and flirt for all they're worth. Later in the evening, the party moves into the many bars and clubs or one of the four discos. Tonight also features toboggan races by torchlight and night skiing.

Down in the Valley: Tobogganing!

Steve, against all odds, had managed to make a puffy ski outfit not look completely ridiculous. He was listening very seriously as the man at the top of the toboggan run explained why wearing headgear was important and was not going to tell him about how he jumped off buildings for a living.

"This is going to be swell!" he said, grinning enthusiastically.

Hannibal smiled and made his way over to the other teacher. "Have you ever been tobogganing yourself?"

Steve shook his head. "Closest I came was sledding, but that doesn't really count."

"Still closer than I have," Hannibal said. He'd had to use sleds on occasion, but never just for fun. "They look as though they're enjoying themselves, though."

"They do," Steve agreed, "and I'm a big fan of trying new things."

Especially if they were fast, dangerous, and potentially life threatening!

"It's been known to happen," Steve said, grinning.

"Fortunately, they also have medical crews on standby," Hannibal said, grinning back. "Shall I attempt to stop you, or take pictures and send them somewhere?"

Steve handed Hannibal his phone and got ready to make his run, grinning. "Record it and send it to Jan, Tony, and Natasha in the contacts?" he said. "Make sure you tell them I wore a helmet. They'll be impressed."

Hannibal took the phone and checked it over.

"And are you going to wear a helmet?" he asked.

"This time," Steve said, nodding. "The guy watching us seems to be taking his job seriously and I don't want him to get into trouble."

With a "yahoooooooooooo" that would've made Dum-Dum smile, Steve launched himself down the run with his usual disregard for the laws of safety and gravity.

Hannibal chuckled and managed to get the entire thing on film.

Then, as Steve was making his way back up, he mailed the clip to Jan, Tony, and Natasha as requested. Steve asked me to tell you he is wearing a helmet, he added to it.

Since skiing hadn't killed her (yet!), of course Summer was going to go out and enjoy the night life and dancing and that the drinking age here meant she could have beer. She didn't buy all these cute clothes just for them to sit in her suitcase, either!
