The Great House is the hub of all things Necker Island. Not only does it contain many gorgeous open bedrooms, outfitted with enormous terraces, but the house's perch on the island's highest points also grants it some incredibly scenic lounging possibilities. In fact, up on the roof, you'll find a jacuzzi big enough for four at a time.

Don't fight over it.

Every private room has a double or twin beds, depending on ~~what's suitable and/or funny~~ which one you're assigned. Every room comes with a private en-suite bathroom and a beautiful view of the beach on either side of the island.

The Great House has a spacious dining room, where you'll find an extensive tropical breakfast in the morning. There's seating area outside as well, and the woman behind the bar will make you any number of cocktails if you ask nicely.

The Great House comes with a wrap-around terrace that supports hammocks and cosy sofas. There are board games and even chess sets available - and a fully-stocked bar.

After Frank was there for a bit, the bar could no longer be said to be "fully" stocked. They tried their best to keep up the pace of restocking, but Frank was determined to break them.

In the center of the Great House, you'll find the deck, which provides a stunning scenic view of the surrounding area, more seating, a pool table and a piano. Also, champagne. And a lot of it.

And if you take the stairs up, you'll find a four-person jacuzzi. Nice!

Just outside the house sits an enormous infinity pool. It's not quite as stunning a sight as some of the other pools on the island, but on the other hand-- it's an infinity pool, right by your house.

There are several other houses on the island, many of which offer different kinds of facilities for those looking for a thrill.

The Beach House is the second-biggest place on the island. It rests between the island's two tennis courts and provides lunch as well as a bar and game tables... and the most impressive pool of them all.

Like most places on Necker Island, the Beach House comes with an extensive seating area. There are sofas outside on the tennis- and swimming pool sides, but you can also opt to drop yourself on the large couches upstairs, which provide a more panoramic view - and game tables.

Technically, there are two tennis courts right outside the Beach House. Grab a racket, a ball and a friend, and play a game. If you dare do that in the glaring Caribbean sun, anyway.

Beach House supports what has to be the island's most impressive pool, a sprawling freeform infinity pool with a swim-up bar. Nearby is a nice thatched house with chairs to sit at, if that's more your jam.

Hyacinthe...did not actually know how to swim. He'd never left the City of Elua before coming to Fandom and public pools weren't actually a thing in medieval France, even fantasy medieval France.

He was mostly sticking to the shallow end of the pool, appreciating the warmth of the sun and the water.

Pool, sun, food?

... Yeah, Dante was gonna spend his time hanging around a chair by the poolside in his swim trunks, drinking strawberry cocktails and trying to reach the sushi kayak without moving too much.

Being this close to this much water was going to make her scales itch eventually -- and give her one hell of a headache -- but Ada didn't care. She steadfastly ignored the soft, incessant call of the ocean in the back of her mind and happily laid out on one of the long chairs on the little strip of beach in her bikini, soaking up as much sun as she could.

She was finally warm for the first time in months. Everything was wonderful.

Hyacinthe hoisted himself out of the pool and padded over to Ada, carrying several vegetable rolls from the sushi kayak. In fairness, he would have brought her veggie rolls even if she hadn't been vegetarian.

"That boat suggests I ought to be eating raw fish," he declared, looking disgruntled at the very idea.

Ada...was suddenly vividly reminded of how very, very good that crawdad had tasted as she had bitten its head off. The way she'd ripped it apart and gobbled it up and cleaned out its shell before licking her fingers. That was a memory she didn't need. At all.

The face of automatic disgust she made was at herself, not at the sushi, but Hyacinthe didn't need to know that.

"Why would anyone ever want t' eat raw fish?" she asked, shaking her head. "That's a thing? Why th' hell is that a thing?"

"I've no idea," Hyacinthe said, offering her a cucumber roll. "I was always taught that eating raw meat is dangerous."

"Right? I thought y'had t' make sure it was cooked well t' kill bacteria or whatever," Ada replied. "Once or twice a year some fool undercooks th' chicken, an' then everyone's sick for a day or two."

Hyacinthe didn't know about bacteria, but he did know the perils of undercooked chicken, so he nodded. "You do not need to cook it all to leather," he said. "Goat, beef, lamb...you can enjoy them rare and flavorful. But 'tisn't raw." He shook his head. "When half the school is too ill to enjoy their vacation, you and I can laugh at them."

"Maybe some fish are safe t' eat that way?" Ada suggested, wrinkling up her nose. "But if'n they get sick, we're gonna have all their drinks an' laugh."

Ada was not always the best at compassion, no.

"You enjoyin' th' sunshine too?" she asked, scooting over to make room for him on the chair as she accepted the cucumber roll, regarding it curiously for a moment before popping it in her mouth.

"Indeed," Hyacinthe said, stretching out next to her. "The City of Elua never gets as cold as Fandom does. I missed the sun."

"Same," Ada agreed, sighing. "Arizona can get chilly, but we don't get cold or damp like Fandom. This feels nice."

She set down her trashy novel and picked up her tanning oil, dangling the bottle with a smile. "Don't suppose I can convince you t' help a girl out?"

"So I am to feed you and act as your manservant?" Hyacinthe asked with a heavy sigh. Even as he was reaching for the bottle and wearing a dirty grin, yes. "I suppose, since 'tis in my nature to be helpful. Though you'll need to tell me about the book you're reading while I toil."

Look, the cover looked interesting. He was curious.

"I was gonna offer t' rub th' oil on you after but if'n you don't wanna..." she sighed melodramatically, but handed the bottle over. "Oh, m' book? It's terrible. A dashing pirate queen takes a prince hostage, but then they get shipwrecked."

There was a lot of shirtlessness. And puns about 'riding the tide.' Ada approved.

"Did Isabela pen this?" Hyacinthe asked, laughing, as he poured some oil into his hands. "If not, she must be informed immediately."

He let the oil warm in his palms for a few seconds before starting to spread it over her, his hands brown compared to her pale skin. "Do you need a hand acting any of those scenes out, I'll be your captive prince."

Ada laughed, stretching out to give Hyacinthe plenty of skin to work with.

"No, I found this at th' library," she admitted, closing her eyes in bliss as his hands moved over her. "'M happy t' read some of it with you, and if'n you decide we should t' tell 'Bela about it, there is a scene with th' prince, th' pirate, and th' princess he's supposed t' marry..."

They could have a book club!

"So long as she doesn't decide to oust you for pirate captain," Hyacinthe said, working the oil into her skin with strong fingers. And if he lingered on certain spots he knew were inclined to be sensitive...well, he just wanted to make sure they were good and covered. He was a helper. "I'll admit, I love the idea of seeing Isabela pretend to be a princess."

He was the best helper, and Ada was purring happily.

"She likes it when I mutiny anyway," she said, giving a lazy stretch and wriggling a bit whenever he hit a spot she particularly liked. "She can deal with me being th' captain!"

"This is definitely something we need to explore further," Hyacinthe said, running a finger down Ada's spine. "I agree. You ought to read it to me and we can mark the passages that warrant a bit of acting."

Are you hungry? You don't even need to leave the pool! There's a special sushi kayak that takes off into the pool every now and again, providing a wide selection of sushi rolls both vegetarian and not.

"...What's this?" Hyacinthe asked, giving the roll stuffed with raw fish a very dubious look.

He appreciated the delivery, but he was most certainly not sure of the cuisine.

And finally, Beach House supports a 30-seat jacuzzi right outside the pool, in case all the other luxury wasn't great enough.

Kuzco was in the 30-seat jacuzzi. He was not planning to share because he was a huge, huge jerk.

And still a llama.

Temple House is a large, round, Balinese-style house further along on the island. It's got a lounging area with an enormous library - and of course another infinity pool outside.

Rey had never even considered that a place like this could exist, so it made zero sense to her to stick to the hotel. So she was out here at the house, and looking at the kinds of books they had.

As a desert girl, she'd stay away from the pool, though.

Sandy Turtle Beach sits right outside the Beach House, fringed by palm trees and offering hammocks to hang out in. There's a table set up for lunch dining if you're in the mood, an aqua-trampoline anchored in the bay and kayaks and-- oh, right, there's also the ocean.

Bored of lounging already? You can always take the zipline down from the Great House to the beach.

Steve was...gonna give the zipline a pass. Bad memories.

He instead tried out the aqua trampoline, a thing he'd never heard of until two minutes ago.

On the other side of the island is the Main Beach. It's just as sandy as Turtle Beach, but it's a bit busier, with stations for various water activities including kite surfing and tubing.

Today, there's a small waterskiing group forming up.

Meanwhile, in reality, I woke up with the cold to end all colds. Ugh.
