Welcome to the Castle Hotel & Spa. Located 30 miles from Manhattan and a mile and a half from Sleepy Hollow, this beautiful piece of architecture sits majestically atop one of the highest points in Westchester County, and overlooks the Hudson River amid sprawling acres of manicured gardens and grounds. With over 100 years of history, the Castle is a sumptuous escape to the enchanted era of America’s Gilded Age.

Students are in Deluxe Rooms located in Carrollcliffe, the newest wing of the Castle with one king-size bed or two queen-size beds ~~whichever is funnier~~, private bath with a shower/tub combination. The hotel offers the most luxurious imported linens, goose-down comforters, and plush bathrobes (and chocolates on your pillow because they're fancy). Deluxe rooms also include an armoire with a flat-screen HDTV, Tivoli clock radio, Bose sound system and complimentary high-speed internet access.

Teachers and their guests are in Junior Suites, also located in Carrollcliffe. In addition to all of the goodies in the students' room, the teachers get a sitting alcove and a separate tub and shower to relax in. Booyah.

Ringo had sort of decided to take a lazy Friday and sleep in. So the sun was already up when she finally yawned herself out of bed. She stretched and got dressed, and because she'd slept in so long she decided that it was probably okay, just this once, to wear her ATs indoors. After all, without her usual early-morning ride, her feet felt itchy.

At least she was courteous enough to keep things at about a walking speed and not bounce off of any walls in the hallways, no matter how tempting it was?

Dante was about ready to go home. Actually, he was about ready to go down to the city, but he didn't have any money and he wasn't at the level of desperation yet where he'd go hitchhiking.

So instead he was back on his bed, drinking something from the mini-bar and watching shitty reality shows on TV.

"Seriously, why the fuck is she still on this show?"

... and after several days, it was making him antsy, feeling like he was wasting time. Sigh.

Ever wanted to eat at a five-star Zagat rated restaurant? Ever been glad the school is paying for everything? Then Equus is for you!

Dining options include their celebrated seasonal breakfast (can we suggest the Banana Foster French Toast?) and lunchmenus in three acceptably snooty rooms: The Garden Room, the Oak Room, or the Library. Breakfast is served from 8-10 am, and lunch starts at noon and goes until 2.

The 8,000 square-foot THANN Sanctuary Spafeatures amenities such as steam, whirlpool, relaxation lounges, and a private VIP treatment room. Private health and fitness classes are available by reservation. There are also daily yoga classes and cardiovascular and strength training equipment located in the gym on the spa grounds.

There had been yoga, then strength training, then more yoga, and now Surreal was happily lounging in the whirlpool, enjoying the heat as it permeated her muscles after that workout.

She hadn't gotten to stab anything yesterday. While sulking was tempting, being a boneless pile of happy witch was much more enjoyable.

"This town is full of lies, not ghosts." While Cara had not actually spent an entire day doing enough sulking in a tub for both of them, the outside observer could be forgiven for thinking otherwise.

"Yes, but the steam room is not a lie," Surreal pointed out, poking Cara in the leg with a foot. "Look on the bright side, sugar."

Like the fact she could take a proper bath with her grilfriend instead of pretending she knew what she was talking about in class.

"Would that be the one with the flexible half-naked women?" Cara asked, poking back. Any thoughts of participating int he yoga classes died horribly at the first mention of the words 'inner peace' but she'd watched Surreal's with great interest.

"If you ignore all the 'inner peace' nonsense, it's fun," Surreal laughed. "Or at least, it's a damn good workout."

"I know a few other workouts involving those kinds of stretches," Cara said, relaxed enough to grin lazily. "But I don't think they'd appreciate the suggestion of classes on those."

Then, more seriously "Didn't overwork anything?"

Surreal, smiles aren't supposed to show that many teeth. "Do I look overworked?"

Well, that kind of question meant Cara definitely needed to take her time looking her over before replying.

"I was going to offer to rub down anything sore," she said. "But since you asked, you do look like you could go a few rounds." She didn't specify of what, because, honestly, there was barely a difference beyond one being slightly more acceptable in public.

Especially around easily-spooked townsfolk or impressionable children.

"Well, give me a real workout, and you can rub me down later," Surreal promised. "Of course, I'm perfectly happy to return the favor..."

Which there were far too many of around here.

"I'm sure I can leave you satisfied," Cara said, and her own grin had too many teeth now. "You can even use your knives if you think they'll help."

Not for the first time that week, elsewhere in the hotel Isabela's ears were burning.

If you're excited about a pre-dawn jog (Steve, calm down), there are paths throughout the grounds intended for that purpose. There is also croquet available on property, along with bocce courts and a life-sized, custom-designed chess set.

Kuzco, it turned out, was absolutely terrible at croquet.

Live music, shopping, games and activities for kids! All at the church where author Washington Irving was a parishioner.

Jono had stayed in bed yesterday. There had been enough psionic whiplash coming from the direction of the graveyard that he figured he'd rather not bother, and had alternated sleeping off the resulting headache with hunting down horror flicks on the television in the hotel room.

Today he was feeling better, though, and found himself at the fair, of all places, with a scarf around the bottom half of his face (clearly to fend off the cold) and a smile in his eyes as he stopped to listen to the live music.

Not a bad way to spend the day, really.

Mara was enjoying the people-watching today, even if her senses were extended to notice any...non-standard...beings among them again today.

It wasn't a proper carnival, not really, but Ada didn't care. It was the closest she'd get, at least until the Homecoming Carnival.

She had a mug of hot cider and was listening to the music as she watched the people mingling about.

This park is comprised of over 1,000 acres donated by the Rockefeller family. Seasonal activities include hiking, recreational running, bird watching, fishing, picnicking, horseback riding, carriage driving, photography, painting, and geocaching.

Kanan had gone back to the preserve to hang out with his buddy the horse from a few days ago. After the time in the cemetery, he had a mind to be as far from the town as he possibly could, and horseback riding was going to be how he went about that.

Ghosts. Why did it have to be ghosts?

Yes, Cassandra was happy to return to the preserve. She left the horses alone this time, however, and chose to hike.

She had brought a large container of water, which she clipped to her belt, and rations to last her through the day. Then she took off, picking a trail until it no longer suited her. She fully intended to spend her day out here, for as long as she could. It was much nicer than the hotel.

After a relaxing 45 minute marathon, Steve took the picnic lunch he'd brought from the hotel and settled down by the water to watch the birds.

It was peaceful--almost like Central Park.

This Gothic Revival mansion was originally designed in 1838 by American architect Alexander Jackson Davis for former New York City mayor William Paulding, Jr.

Lucille found the mansion quite charming. It reminded her of Allerdale Hall, although her own home was smaller and in much need of repair compared to this place. Lyndhurst did have a slightly more pleasant atmosphere too, and the park around it was lovely.

Perhaps it was all a little too charming and lovely, but Lucille enjoyed her visit nonetheless, wandering through the house and strolling in the park.

There are dozens to choose from! May we suggest Main Street Sweets, Silver Tips Tea Room, Sunset Cove, or Tarry Tavern?

Though heavy on the headless kitsch, there are lots of fun shops to poke your head into in both Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. Try out Bella's Boutique, the Philipsburg Manor Gift Shop, Flying Fingers Yarn Shop, or a Nu Toy Store.
