It was another nice, clear night, with temperatures dipping just into the 50s. The area around the castle was peaceful, and the long, extended grounds were an optimal space for anyone who might've wanted to go on an evening stroll. Or head down to Sleepy Hollow for some fun, family-friendly night time activities!

Welcome to the Castle Hotel & Spa. Located 30 miles from Manhattan and a mile and a half from Sleepy Hollow, this beautiful piece of architecture sits majestically atop one of the highest points in Westchester County, and overlooks the Hudson River amid sprawling acres of manicured gardens and grounds. With over 100 years of history, the Castle is a sumptuous escape to the enchanted era of America’s Gilded Age.

Students are in Deluxe Rooms located in Carrollcliffe, the newest wing of the Castle with one king-size bed or two queen-size beds ~~whichever is funnier~~, private bath with a shower/tub combination. The hotel offers the most luxurious imported linens, goose-down comforters, and plush bathrobes (and chocolates on your pillow because they're fancy). Deluxe rooms also include an armoire with a flat-screen HDTV, Tivoli clock radio, Bose sound system and complimentary high-speed internet access.

Teachers and their guests are in Junior Suites, also located in Carrollcliffe. In addition to all of the goodies in the students' room, the teachers get a sitting alcove and a separate tub and shower to relax in. Booyah.

Dining options include their celebrated seasonal Prix Fixe tasting menus and the carefully designed a la carte offerings (plus dessert in three acceptably snooty rooms: The Garden Room, the Oak Room, or the Library.

This two-hour tour introduces some of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery’s fallen angels and colorful incidents. Where Fairy Tales Get Grimm introduces a cast of fairy tale characters that will take visitors through the lavishly decorated first floor and basement of Lyndhurst mansion. Guests will meet the Mad Hatter, Merlin, The Queen of Hearts, Rumpelstiltskin and others. Fairy tales are not always what they seem. The Lyndhurst mansion will be specially lighted and with the music and live actors throughout the house, visitors will be able to experience the spectacular gothic castle at night and in a way rarely seen.

Climb aboard Sleepy Hollow’s annual Haunted Hayride and hold onto your head! All seems well when you board your hay wagon in the brightly lit streets of downtown Sleepy Hollow. Rumbling off into the dark you realize too late you are heading down the Albany Post Road past the Old Dutch Church, following exactly Ichabod Crane’s flight from the Headless Horseman. Then you’re through a set of iron gates and the wagon slips into the dark woods of the hollow. Clattering across a wooden bridge, you start to hear shrieks and the sound of hoofbeats...

So deep down, Clint really, truly was a five-year old at heart. Hopefully, Kitty was okay with this by now and wouldn't be terribly surprised as Clint sat down on the wagon and patted the seat next to him. "Don't worry, I'll protect you if it's really haunted," he said.

"I'm not afraid of no ghosts," said Kitty who was a total dork, hopping into the seat next to him. "Wait, I don't miss out on cuddle time by saying that, do I?"

"No, that just means you get to be the protector instead," Clint said, slipping his arm into hers and shifting closer. "I'm not entirely sure I believe in ghosts. At least, outside of weird possible Fandom ghosts."

"I do," she said with a little shrug. "After dealing with aliens, demons, and sort of being a ghost, it's safer to believe in everything."

"I guess after being on a team with a god, I should keep an open mind," Clint said, snickering. "I'm glad we decided to come here instead of going somewhere on our own. And that's not just my stomach talking."

"You just wanna see if anything's going to happen here," Kitty teased.

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with wanting to be entertained. And I meant more coming on the school trip in general," Clint said, laughing. "I was worried it might be weird still being around students, but there's been enough space between us and them."

"Yeah, off with the loud neighbors." Thanks, Deadpool and Vanessa. "We have our own space. And I don't think the kids really care about what we're doing anyway. As long as they don't do anything bad..."

Clint snickered. "How much trouble could they get into around here?" he asked, before adding, "Or will I regret asking that?"

"Well, you just jinxed us. Next thing you know someone's gonna steal a hay wagon," Kitty said.

"Oh no, anything but that," Clint said dryly. "Next thing you know they'll be staying out until all hours and smoking where we can't see them."

"Oh, no, not smoking," Kitty said, feigning shock. "That's a gateway to rebellion, you know."

She paused. "Disclaimer: our kids will do none of these things."

"They really won't," Clint agreed. "I think half of them are too busy figuring out how to get by in the 21st century to work on their criminal ways."

"Or at the very least, adjusting their criminal ways to the 21st century, which might take a little time," she said.

"Do you have a lot of potential criminals in your class?" Clint said. "The kids who showed up at the picnic seemed pretty nice for the most part."

"Nah, I got good ones. They actually seem like they want to learn, imagine that," Kitty smiled. "Though I'm not sure how many bad kids we actually have here, period."

"And the fact that you see the best in everyone always has nothing to do with that opinion, right?" Clint asked.

"Only a little, because they haven't done anything in my class," Kitty admitted. "But I've got a couple who really seem interested in what's happening, or were prepared with ideas of things they wanted to learn. It appeals to the inner nerd in me."

There was no 'inner.' Just nerd.

"I think some of your inner nerd as leaked out, Ms. History Teacher," Clint said, reaching for her hand and giving it a squeeze. "But it's okay, I like brains in my ladies."

"Excuse me, that's Mrs. History Teacher," Kitty grinned.

Clint grinned at that too. "Does that make me Mr. History Teacher? Even though I'd probably flunk your class?" he asked, leaning in closer. "Unless I could convince my very beautiful teacher to give me some extra credit, that is."

"Might depend on what kind of extra credit you mean," Kitty said, feigning innocence. "A research paper?"

Clint made a face at that and shook his head. "Writing something is just going to make my grade lower. I was thinking something more... hands on."

"I can accept that," she told him. "As long as you do a very good job."

There are dozens to choose from! May we suggest Main Street Sweets, Silver Tips Tea Room, Sunset Cove, or Tarry Tavern?

Though heavy on the headless kitsch, there are lots of fun shops to poke your head into in both Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. Try out Bella's Boutique, the Philipsburg Manor Gift Shop, Flying Fingers Yarn Shop, or a Nu Toy Store.
