Spring Break, Cyseal, Saturday Morning/Afternoon

The weather had been so nice in Cyseal that, with the recent threats kept more or less under control, the townsfolk were happy to contribute a ship to entertain their visitors.

The sun was shining bright, the birds were singing, and a large ship was pulling into port. Enjoy your last full day in Cyseal, Fandom!

King Crab Tavern

This large inn is a beautiful construction of ornate brickwork, with flowers hanging off of every available surface on the outside.

King Crab Tavern - Rooms

The rooms are upstairs, modestly outfitted but spacious. There is a double bed or set of twin beds in each room, a bath with a privacy screen, a wardrobe (with time-and-place appropriate clothing included) and a desk. There are plenty of candles, and beautiful paintings hang off the walls.

King Crab Tavern - Common Room

Within, large red curtains separate the various booths and tables from the rest of the inn; while they are usually open, they may be closed if privacy is wished for. To the left, there is a large bar which covers the entire L-shaped curve of the back wall. There is the constant, comforting rumble of people chattering; the decor, the fireplace (with bear fur rug) and the candles speak of an intrinsic welcoming warmth. A grey tomcat wanders around the floor, sweet and clever.

Atton was planning to spend his morning slumped over here in a booth with a nice meal sitting on the table. He wasn't so sure about this whole 'sailing around' thing, especially since there seemed to be a lot out there that was happy to try and kill people.

"... which probably means I should go along," he muttered at his food. "These damn kids."

King Crab Tavern - Bar

The bar does not just serve drinks (though in Cyseal, they are not particularly interested in age limits), but it also serves food for the guests staying at the King Crab. At this time during the day, you can buy a variety of breakfast food, though the locals largely favor cheeses and eggs.

There was still plenty to do in Cyseal proper; the locals were happy, singing and bright.

Cyseal - Market

Just down the stairs from the King Crab, you'll find the Cyseal marketplace. It's frequented as much by gulls as it is by people, but during the day, it's always busy. Nearest to the inn are all the food stands, selling fresh fish, vegetables and cheeses. (The cheesemonger is still making terrible cheese puns today. He's trying to up his game.)

A little further away, you'll find the potion shop, which sells anything from mushrooms to air- and fire resistance potions, to potions that will temporarily boost your dexterity or intelligence ("potions to enmuscle you! Scrolls to entussle you!", the saleswoman yells), to lockpicks and armoring tools. It's also possible to buy weapons a few stands over (though no, the teachers won't let you bring home that fire wand), and in the middle of the market a rooster sits on a pillow, preening, his portrait almost complete.

Perhaps don't ask.

Sarah was considerin the potions. In a turn that should not be surprising to anyone, she was considering the possibilities of fucking with people with them. Because she was kind of mean like that.

Mostly she was just kind of meandering around the market area, though. More her thing than getting on a bloody ship, for sure.

Cyseal - Theater

Past the market, you'll find the camp where all of Cyseal's great thespians hole up. There are various stages across the field, some occupied, some not; crowd filters in and out to listen to the performance, settling down on wooden benches, or sometimes the grass.

Today, there seems to be some kind of children's puppet show going on. It gets rather violent.

Sparkle was watching the puppet show keenly today, much preferring the random pretend violence to whatever actual random violence was no doubt going on past the city limits. Maybe he didn't have a great track record when it came to keeping out of trouble, but on occasion he was actually capable of making sound life choices.

Anyway, he sure as hell didn't seem concerned by the fact that he was the oldest person sitting on the bench he'd chosen. And the kids didn't seem to mind so much that he was shouting "Yeah, get him! Beat his face!" right along with the rest of them.

It worked out nicely.

Cyseal - Town Hall Library

Town Hall itself is not particularly interesting, as it houses only the Mayor. However, upstairs, his adopted daughter Victoria - an unusually well-spoken orc - has put together an enormous library, containing tomes on topics ranging from Rivellon geography to the various schools of magic and Sourcery practiced in this land. Or you could pick up a book of jokes, or some exciting fiction!

The tall Victoria herself can be spotted roaming the halls, happily twitching her tail and ducking her head as to not gore any bookcases with her horns.

Cyseal - Barracks

These are the Legion's local barracks. While you may not be allowed to enter the building itself, most days, the soldiers are training outside in the yard. With the decidedly hardassed drill sergeant leading the fray, it's a sight to see.

Okay, so, Xanthippe was kind of intrigued by the soldiers? Or like, watching them train. For science.

Except not science because that was lame. Something not science but also something that didn't make her seem too interested. She was watching for that. Raptly.

Cyseal - Legion Camp

Opposite the barracks is the current encampment of the Legion. The main area is quiet today, but some days, one might find legionnaires sitting outside, getting ready for an expedition. Sometimes, they might even be looking for help. Walking through the camp, you'll find warm fires and young legionnaires, training, chatting, or perhaps just making some food.

Cyseal - The Docks

Down further south, you'll find the docks, where fishermen and soldiers alike are checking their hauls or readying their cargo. If you're lucky, someone might sell you some fresh fish for half the price of the markets, too.

They're preparing the big tourist ship in the morning; come watch them do it.

Cyseal - Streets of Cyseal

Of course, you could simply choose to wander around Cyseal all day. The sun is warm, and for a medieval-esque city, it's quite gorgeous and not at all stinky. Purple flowers decorate the sides of the roads, and large trees loom overhead. All the while, you can hear the birds singing and the people chatting.

Mid-morning, the ship is ready to receive anyone who'd like to go on a trip today.

This relatively imposing sailing vessel seats dozens, with room both outside and in for anyone to be seated, or to walk around and observe the sea.

Just don't fall off.

The sun is bright in the heavens, and the breeze is just about perfect. Wander about aboard, enjoy local delicacies - heavily favoring vegetables - in the galley, climb to the prow or sit indoors and try not to be seasick.

Okay, Dante was deeply regretting getting on this ship.

Or rather, he was deeply regretting drinking so much last night. Hangovers. They were the worst.

So he spent most of his time inside of the ship, at least until they came to a stop and the pain had abated. Ugh.

Outside Cyseal - Island Beach

After an hour and a half out at sea, the ship stops by a small island. It's little more than some rocks, sand and palm trees-- which makes it excellent for anyone who wants to lounge around on the beach or go swimming.

Around lunchtime, the crew of the ship builds a fire on the beach. Lunch today will be various meats roasted over the fire, salads, and of course, Cysealian cheese.

Outside Cyseal - Treasure Hunting

The last stop of the day is in the middle of nowhere, or so it appears. The crew hands out potions that'll let you breathe underwater for half an hour.

Turns out there's an enormous shipwreck just below the surface, and they're hoping to clean it out before they leave today. Go on, join them. You'll find mostly old armor, socks and boots down there, but if you're lucky, there might be some coin or gilded chandelier to tide you through, too.

Outside Cyseal - Walk Around The Area

Of course, the last few expeditions haven't exactly depleted the countryside's supply of reanimated skeletons. You can go looking for those, if you please, or pick a fight with bandits-- or you can go for a nice, quiet walk, and smell the flowers.

Or sulfur. There's still plenty of sulfur in the air.
