While the ship wasn't making port today (that was tomorrow!), they'd moved close enough for some pretty spectular photographs of the Mexican coastline. Dolphins swam with the ship for a half hour around lunchtime, and while "karaoke" wasn't a word most members of the crew were familiar with, "piano singalong" certainly was. It was happening on the Riviera Deck if you knew the greatest hits of the '30s, '40s and '50s.

Where was Bucky Barnes when you needed him?

The sun was shining, it was hot enough to swim and sunbathe, and there was a macrame class out by the aft pool deck. Or you can go shopping, head to the beauty parlor (if you're brave...) or find another book to read while waiting for your loooooove connection to arrive.

The Ship!

The Pacific Princess--or the Love Boat, as the crew keeps winkingly calling it--is large enough, if a little heavy on shag carpet, beige furniture and weird modern art installations. There's plenty of space to ramble, so take your time and do some people watching!

Everyone will find their berths on the Aloha Deck, with outside twin rooms (that have either twin beds or a double for your moddable needs) that provide a view of the ocean as it goes past. (Keep the NSFW in private journals, please!)

Hatter was getting a bit of a slow start this morning. He was propped up in bed, idly reading a book he'd picked up from somewhere around the ship and laughing at the ridiculous way these oysters acted in their past.

Travis had been pleased to wake up without any kind of sunburn on his face or shoulders. He considered that a win.

He was also pleased to wake up and be able to take his time with actually getting out of bed. Right now, he was stomach down with a pillow under his head, blissfully relaxing and watching the sky from the window.

Room 105

Anders was pink and sore from swimming without sunblock, and that was enough to keep him in the room a while longer than normal this morning. He laid on the bed, turned so he could watch the waves out his porthole.

Eventually he'd leave. But for now, moving just seemed like too much effort.

Ichabod stood in his nightshirt with his arms crossed, staring at the contents of his bag. Or rather, a bag not his filled with clothes appropriate for the era they happened to find themselves in.

"What respectable gentleman would wear something like this (http://blog.wanken.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/mens-fashion-1970s-03.jpg)?" he continued the rant, holding up a white jumpsuit.

Explore the various buffets around the ship! There's one on either side of the pool on Lido deck, plus a more formal option in the Coral Room. Eat nothing but dessert if you want! No one's gonna judge. Much.

There's a lot of extra tropical fruit today. Go figure.

After yesterday's... whatever it was... with Barry, Elsa needed a distraction. And, while she'd only heard vaguely about the show on the radio, she had decided two things that, now that she was here, proved to be absolutely correct.

First, that it didn't involve a view of the ocean, which was still sort of freaking her out, and might in fact help get her mind off the fact that they were out at sea. And second, that it sort of demanded that all attention be on it at all times.

What she hadn't expected, really, was just how flashy it was. Or how energetic the music would be. Everything twinkled and glimmered and shone in ways that Elsa could actually sort of appreciate. The dancing didn't make much sense to her, and she was still perfectly content to stand along the sidelines to watch what was going on, but the music was... it was happy.

Maybe she would just spend the rest of the trip here, developing a finer appreciation for ABBA.

Alana actually loved the show, in a not entirely ironic way. It was flashy and glittery and over the top and the music was terrible ... and she got swept into it until she applauded like a little girl.

Go figure.

Knot tying would be useful in interrogations, so Mara was at the class trying to look like she wasn't sizing up the samples for garrote potential.

Somehow one of the crew had convinced Barry that macrame would be a relaxing class.

Barry didn't find it a bit relaxing nor was it very distracting.

So really he was just sitting there swearing as he knotted yarn.

Alex thought she'd try to learn macrame for something different and thought it would be something fun to try.

It was definitely a lot harder than it looked as she tried to tie her knots.

You better believe Sparkle was going to try to make one of those owls. A yellow one. And cackling to himself every time he got something right. It was completely fricking stupid, don't get him wrong, but it was something to do, and he totally got to rock the corduroy bell bottoms that he'd bought yesterday for the occasion.

Because this was all so very stupid, but shamelessly embracing the seventies was actually kind of fun.

Gwen was starting to get kind of stir crazy being on the boat this long- apparently she didn't like being cooped up too much these days- and that was the only reason she would be caught dead in this class.

She was doing really badly at it because she didn't really care, but it was something to do!

My grandparents had an actualfax '70s macrame owl hanging on their kitchen wall. I haven't thought about it in forever. I think one of my older cousins made it.

(They bought the house in 1967 and the decor stayed pretty stuck in that era for the next 30 years.)

OMG I made a lot of macrame plant holders when I was a kid! The smell of the jute makes me nostalgic.
