Florence [Saturday Evening, October 19th]

The sunset was no less spectacular than yesterday's, but the air is a little bit warmer tonight. Perfect for strolling the streets in a light jacket to watch the buildings and fountains glow. You might want to slip that off when you hit the clubs, though; even autumn can really heat up when you dance!

The Hotel - Hotel Savoy Firenze

The five-star Hotel Savoy offers luxury and style in the heart of Florence. Located on the Piazza Repubblica, close to Florence's renowned Duomo, the hotel is just a short walk from the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. It's also just steps away from the main Florence fashion houses if you're all art-ed out. Which would be a shame because you can't get a block in Florence without seeing some naked guy in a fountain.

The Hotel - Rooms - 10/19 Evening

Everyone is staying in deluxe double or twin rooms that offer a view over the Piazza della Repubblica as well as of the Duomo. The Italian marble bathrooms, with mosaic decorations, also feature a separate shower, and the chaperones' rooms have a balcony to enjoy the view of the city more thoroughly. Each room comes with satellite television, phones, internet connections and a minibar.

Since he'd been kicked out of the room last night, Theo was going to take up his bed tonight and not move. The couch hadn't been comfortable.

It went without saying that the majority of Jake's time during this trip was spent sampling the wares of the various bars and pubs near the hotels. A not-insignificant time was thus spent hungover and recovering from said excursions.

... And then there was tonight, where he was stumbling back into the room, hand over his right eye and muttering a string of barely-intelligible curses as he made his way over to the bed.

Eating at the hotel restaurant in one of the great food capitals of the world might seem like a cop-out, but with a menu like L'Icontro's, you can turn feeling lazy into a gourmet virtue.

Riley was sure he'd gained about fifty pounds this trip. All he seemed to be doing was eating and he had no regrets.

Cade was looking like a classy (...ish) guy tonight. He had a new leather jacket (paid for! By...someone) and he'd even showered and not completely drenched himself in cologne, and was now waiting for Isabelle by the bar.

"Stop telling me the difference between shaken and stirred," he told the bartender. "I don't karking care."

Isabelle looked actually classy, because she always did. Especially while wearing dress, like she was right now.

"So I guess I shouldn't ask what the difference is," she remarked as she came over.

The Hotel - Fitness Centre

If you haven't figured out by now you have to walk pretty much everywhere in Italy, there's nothing we can do to help you on that front, but if you want to work out your arms and abs while getting an amazing view of the Duomo, the Savoy's got you covered. They also have a steam room, perfect from unkinking those muscles worn out from seeing all there is to see!

Sightseeing

Wandering through the streets of Florence with the cathedrals and fountains illuminated (eating more gelato because c'mon, gelato) is one of the great things to do in the evening. Stop at street performers, listen to live music and enjoy the ancient beauty under the moonlight! Or get dressed up and go looking for street toughs to beat up. We know who's on this trip.

Alex decided to go nighttime sightseeing this time. She did enjoy some gelato as she wandered around Florence, sometimes watching a performance, other times staring at the fountains. This place was amazing.

Jackson had no clue what the hell had happened last night. So, being the kind of jerk he was, he was attributing the sudden (and brief) lack of the pull of the moon to his own willpower.

See, egotistical jerk.

But tonight the full moon was over, and he was actually taking a stroll through the streets, occasionally taking pictures to send to Danny. It was an okay evening.

Jessica had been out walking around the city when she heard the faint sounds of a fight in the distance.

Long story short, Jessica continued on her way at a quick pace, a guy hurried off with his wallet and only a could bruises, and there were two young men hanging upside down in a large web one story above the ground in an alley.

Nothing to see!

Dining (Away from the Hotel)

It's hard to go wrong with food in Florence. There are little corner shops that sell water and pizza, and gelaterias, it seems, are on all the other corners. The city’s best gelateria, or ice-cream parlor, is Vivoli! Remember that a cup, or tub (coppa), is better value than a cone (cono), and that you can ask for more than one flavor on your cone or in your cup! The hotel has recommendations for pricier options--Michelin starred restaurants, places that have been open since the 1800s -- but you can't really get a bad meal even if you go for one that comes price fixed with wine, pasta and dessert for 20 Euros.

Liara was not what one could call a being of great means-- in fact, doing this was likely a splurge she couldn't truly afford. But... if she and Karolina were to start dating again, she wanted to do so properly.

So the fifteen euro menu pasta restaurant...? Yes.

"Yeah, it does," Karolina said because, really, it was a date. She didn't care what the place was like. "I hope the vegetarian choices are good."

She'd had minor troubles with that over this trip.

Enoteca Pinchiorri

After spending more on a suit today than he knew was possible, Anakin and Rory had reservations at the best restaurant in town, at least according to the concierge. (And Anakin had tipped him well enough to ensure it was true.)

They were only in Florence once. What was a paycheck for dinner, right?

...Anakin was already regretting this.

They were starting to run out of time for proper Italian gelato, so Sarah was going to be spending a good chunk of her evening right here.

Sampling all the chocolate gelato flavours and texting Jenny about the necessity of a good capes-only gelateria.

Carousing

Florence is much, much larger than any of the other cities we've visited, so the club scene is large and diverse.

Also, the DJs are 1000 times less likely to be the sort that Eric Northman would eat in lieu of employing them for more than a night.

Kitty figured that if she was going to be in Europe, not on a mission to save anything from anything else, and was actually of age here, she should see what a European dance club was really like.

Mostly she was realizing she needed girlfriends here and was getting good at rejecting Italian boys without speaking any Italian, so she wouldn't be staying too long.
