It was a very serious Josh who stood before the group of students and tried not to think too much on the one face that should still be there.

"Welcome to the White House," he said. "We have been granted a very special privilege--they're letting us walk around while the President is still in the Oval Office." He made eye contact with each student. "If any of you do anything to embarrass me or the school, a year's worth of detention will be the least of your problems. The President's Secret Service detail qualifies with their weapons once a month and they don't miss unless they want to."

He handed out their visitor passes. "I have a couple of people I need to talk to while I'm here, but the staff knows you're with me, so feel free to wander just a little bit around the West Wing. If you go anywhere near a place where the walls start curving out, turn around and go back the way you came. We'll meet the President before we go, but you aren't going to randomly stumble into his office and set off World War III."

Welcome! Boggle! Don't set off the metal detectors or get run over by the frantic pedeconferencing staff members. It might be two days before Thanksgiving, but they're still working hard.

Sure they are....

Lots of activity, mostly swirling around a balding man wielding a rubber ball. He hates you already. Try not to take it personally.

Where Josh came from. They have huge stacks of paper in his honor.

Well, they just have huge stacks of paper. Donna tells him they're for him to shut him up.

A tall brunette leaps from a room.

"Why are there LIVE TURKEYS in my office?"

Seems like something worth looking into...

If you are really brave enough to bother Leo. He's fired people like you before breakfast.

No, he doesn't care that you don't work for him.

If you get too close to the office before Josh is ready for you, Charlie'll turn you right around.

Ignore the part where it sounds like he's on the phone with the Butterball hotline. The President has much more important things to do. Really.

The field trip is for Josh's government class and all members of the current student council. I'll be back to ping in with random guest stars around 1PST, but I do have lovely other folks helping me out, too. Feel free to pair up and make up your own adventures with NPC Oval Office staff.

Just, um, don't do something that would get you shot by the Secret Service.

Lana looked around her in awe at all the people hurrying by as she waited her turn at the metal detectors.

Meg was doing her best to enjoy herself and not think about what little she remembered about the weekend.

Anathema had a notebook full of questions and two pens.

Jenny was looking around her, noting how things had changed and not changed since 1999 in her universe, and musing that it would be quite different to be here when she couldn't barge in, yell at the president, and ash on his rug.

Anathema had been wondering around when she heard the shout. "Dinner?" She asked innocently.

CJ jumped again. "Not my dinner," she said to the girl.

"Carol!" She called again. "Why are there turkeys in my office?"

"One of them has to be pardoned," the woman replied with a shrug. "Will thought you should pick the most photogenic one."

CJ blinked. "They're turkeys," then turned back to Anathema. "Want to help?"

"Sure!" Anathema tucked her pen behind her ear and stepped in to evaluate the turkeys. "Best coloring or best size?"

"Sure?" CJ replied. "One that wouldn't attack the President on live television is a bonus...which one looks the most docile?"

One turkey was standing on CJ's desk, the other one was hanging out on her chair. Neither one looked particularly threatening.

"That one looks ready to give a press conference, the other looks like she wants to do your paperwork for you." Anathema decided. "I'd go with the press conference one."

CJ nodded. "That makes as much sense as anything else I could come up with," she muttered. "Will's going to pay for this."

Andros looked around, slightly impressed, he hadn't seen a place like this before.

Lana watched the activity from as out of the way space as she could manage. The whole thing was so fascinating!

It wasn't her reality or her president, but Molly still thought it was cool to be in the White House. She had her camera out and was ready to take pictures.

"And hopefully for the clean up as well." Anathema added. "I'm one of Josh's students."

"You there," Toby said, snapping his fingers at her. "Tiny, fragile breakable one. How many people do I have to kill today to get a couple of the editorial page of the Journal?"

"Of course you are!" CJ said, eyes lighting up. "Sit!" She glanced down. "On something not covered in turkey. Carol!"

The dark-haired woman popped her head back into the office. "Yeah?"

"Go get Will's suit coat. I need to clean up turkey...droppings."

Lana glanced around and saw a copy on a desk. She grabbed it and handed it over. "Is that what you wanted, sir?"
