Washington, DC [Sunday morning]

Anakin parked the bus abruptly in front of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum--don't ask what he did to get such a good parking space--and turned around to face the flight and photography students. "Here we are," he said. "The bus leaves at 4 o'clock--if you're not on it, you're walking home." He gave them all a small smile. "I'm heading into Air & Space--Veronica has some suggestions for her photography workshop on places to take pictures of. Have fun."

[OOC: SP through Sunday for the field trip to Washington if you are in Anakin or V's classes. Plz to be waiting for the OCD... Have fun!]

Blair stops by the Flight simulator zone (http://www.nasm.si.edu/exhibitions/gal103/gal103.html) and gives the machines a whirl. While there is no space flight option, there is spinning. "Whooo!"

Peter spent a lot of time in the World War II Gallery (http://www.nasm.si.edu/exhibitions/gal205/gal205.html) surprisingly enough.

He got so engrossed at finally seeing a Spitfire (http://www.nasm.si.edu/exhibitions/gal205/spitfire.gif) and Messerschmitt (http://www.nasm.si.edu/exhibitions/gal205/MESSER.GIF) up close that he had to be reminded by a gallery guard to stay back. Several times.

Sam spent a while looking through the information about Kitty Hawk (http://www.nasm.si.edu/wrightbrothers/) and the Wright Brothers.

Cameron went in and... look, it's a museum about Air and Space flight. Chances are likely that you'll have to drag him out.

Aeryn heads straight into the museum, a little glad to be indoors. She'd be one of the people mocking the primitive technology. Even the space exploration part only covers this solar system. Still, it's nice to see something a little familiar.

Sam stared at the exhibit on Antarctica (http://www.mnh.si.edu/exhibits/cold/) for quite a while. Anyone watching her may have seen her occasionally wipe tears away for no apparent reason.

Draco was staring at the Hope Diamond. If his mother around he knew he'd have to hold her back from trying to take it.

Zack browsed the various exhibits, he liked museums.

Sam was standing in the technology (http://americanhistory.si.edu/exhibitions/exhibition.cfm?key=38&exkey=56) exhibit, reminiscing over the eight-track tape player.

Yes, she's a dork.

Cameron ended up wandering into the military collections (http://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/subject_detail.cfm?key=32&colkey=22).

Zomg Muppets! (http://americanhistory.si.edu/exhibitions/exhibition.cfm?key=38&exkey=797)

Elizabeth got totally distracted by the Muppetsand then by the Disney Land (http://americanhistory.si.edu/exhibitions/exhibition.cfm?key=38&exkey=502) collection.

She really was aiming for The American Presidency (http://americanhistory.si.edu/exhibitions/exhibition.cfm?key=38&exkey=87). Honest.

Nadia wandered about the sculpture garden, snapping pictures left and right.

Modern concepts of what was "art" was somewhat fascinating, though Nadia had more fun capturing people's expressions as they looked at the sculptures.

Nadia went into the American Indian museum . . . for about five minutes before the sensory overload was too much and she came back out.

Despite wanting to head to the Botanic Gardens to take photographs, Veronica first decided to take in the 19th Century French Paintings (http://www.nga.gov/collection/gallery/french19.shtm) at the National Gallery of Art.

She particularly enjoyed the work of Claude Monet (http://www.nga.gov/collection/gallery/gg85/gg85-main1.html).

There's a group of studenty type people on the mall, singing and reciting poetry and things.

Nadia settles in to watch for awhile, taking a lot of pictures. The song/poem about women not giving up on feminism is quite nice.

By the time Aeryn gets on the bus, she's not feeling fantastic and is now nice and freaked out on top of it. Buses in the sun don't help much, either. Talking to her is not the best idea.
