Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Evening | Tuesday | February 22

Though the temperatures dipped slightly and the moon was hidden by some thin clouds, there was still excitement in the air as day turned to night. The bright lights of the resort came on and activities suited to Hawaiian nights began in earnest.

The bars, clubs and restaurants were open, the beach was lit with the glow of the moon and the group from Fandom was given plenty to keep themselves occupied until the wee hours of the morning. Have fun, everyone!

The Pool

All right; by Tuesday evening, Ender had to admit to himself that maybe he was avoiding everyone. He'd had his dinner early and left when everyone else went for the dining area, and now he found himself at a nearly-empty pool.

There was something relaxing about swimming at night. It might actually be an idea to try it out in the ocean tomorrow, in the quiet. The water would be warm enough.

Now, though, he dove deep into the water and let it carry him. He touched the bottom of the pool with his fingertips and pushed off, like a parody of the Battle Room, and tried to quiet his mind.

Dolf was a manly man (shut up, stop laughing) and wasn't going to opt for any of the millions of cocktails they had on the menu. However, he was also a distinctly underage manly man, which meant his options were a little limited.

"I'll have a cola," he informed the barman, flopping down into a seat. "And a-- uh, pupu?"

No, he didn't get why anyone would think the name was funny.

This was very quickly becoming a routine, wasn't it, Kate at this bar in the evening?

Tonight, there were two differences in comparison to the previous two nights, though. One, Kate was wearing cut off shorts and a tank top instead of the sundress. She didn't want to get predictable, and besides, the shorts showed off her legs a little more. Always a plus.

And two, she'd started with the alcoholic drinks straight away. Tuesday seemed like a good day to get a little tipsy when the Wednesday that followed wasn't a work day, right? And that had nothing at all to do with wishing to drown any jealousy or anything. Nothing at all.

Leo had been in and out of delinquent schools his whole life, it's not like he had never had alcohol before, but he was still sort of a goody two-shoes at heart. So he was at the bar for lack of anything better to do but he was sipping on a coke and eating the appetizers after laughing at the name waaaaay too much.

I need a picture of a shark on a motorcycle.

Please note that this is not a question, silly or otherwise.

Room 525

Just before dusk, Raven returned to her room to wait for Jono. She still had on her far-too-colorful dress and hoped Sookie was right that he would like it.

Jono had managed to negotiate an agreement with Emma. She didn't destroy his things while he was out and being social tonight, and he would wear the too-bright shirt that he had been stuck with, and would take her on a boat tour at some point this week, possibly even without too much complaint.

He had no idea if an agreement with a weasel could possibly stick, but at least he'd made the attempt. That was what counted, right? Now if only he could get over the urge to claw his own eyes out every time he glanced down, he'd be all set for his evening out with Raven.

... Either way, he was knocking.

Raven took one last look in the mirror at her hair and tried to appreciate the dress. It wasn't too bad, was it? And Sookie said it was cute and brought out her eyes. It was just...not black.

She grabbed her cloak -- she still had that, at least -- because she knew it would be cold on the mountain and opened up the door. Please excuse her if she had to take a moment to stare at Jono's shirt, suddenly realizing that her own clothing swap could've been much much worse. Bobby was so very cruel.

"I see I was not the only one who had their clothing changed," she said with a smile. "Hello, Jono."

Jono managed to only look a little pained as Raven commented on his clothing. Mostly because, apparently, the mysterious clothing-swapper hadn't singled out just him.

He felt a little better, in light of that.

//Evening, Sunshine,// he replied, with a small nod. He'd opted out of wearing his jacket this evening, mostly because... Hawaii. Leather jacket. On fire. At least the weather wasn't terrible, today. //Yer wearing yers rather well, you know.//

That would be a compliment. He was mostly drowning in his. Which, he suspected, was half the point of this sort of shirt in the first place.

Raven blushed and fiddled with the straps of her dress. She was still convinced that the knot behind her neck would somehow become untied and she'd end up flashing half the island. How Sookie wore dresses like these without living with that constant fear, she didn't know.

"I returned to my room yesterday and found all my clothing had been changed into dresses like this," she said. "I thought perhaps it was Fandom's way of attempting to make me fit in on this island, though it seems it feels that way about both of us."

//If it was Fandom, then I have a bone to pick with the island about its taste in shirts,// Jono replied, with a slight, somewhat pointed lift of his eyebrows. //And about how it decided to follow us on vacation. I'm here for a break from the insanity, after all.//

And also to whine about the nice weather. As you do.

Norio’s Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2011-02-22 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Sookie had tried sushi maaaaybe twice in her life, and both times, she'd sort of stuck to the whole California roll thing.

Tonight, though, she was feeling adventurous. Blame the fact that she'd gotten to see lava up close -- it somehow made her much more daring. So she decided to take herself out to try real sushi, in a sushi bar, and see what the fuss was all about.

While Puck had spent the vast majority of his day napping and enjoying the sun, he knew that eventually it'd be time to put on a shirt (only because they were forcing him to) and find somewhere else to be.

The bar seemed like a good enough place, and he managed to avoid having to drink any fruity pink things in favor of a beer. And yes, he'd spent a solid amount of time giggling at the appetizer names.

"At least it was only clothing," Raven said helpfully. Though how it could get worse than that particular shirt, she wasn't sure. It was fairly horrifyingly colorful. She might've needed to take Sookie's suggestion about sunglasses after all if it wasn't almost nightfall.

"Hopefully the rest of the trip will not be interrupted by anyone turning into a child or a different gender or anything like that," she added. And if it was going to be, it had better not be tonight or she was going to have words with the island.
furnaceface: (Very disappointed in you)

... If the island decided to turn them into opposite genders, it could only end in tears. Jono supposed that he'd make a terrible female.

//And with any luck, saying that didn't give it any ideas,// Jono mused, raising those eyebrows of his just a little bit more as he offered her his elbow. //Shall we, luv? Th'sooner we're outside in the dark, th'sooner you don't have to worry about permanent eye damage.//

He'd take the stupid thing off, but stares because of a Hawaiian shirt in Hawaii seemed slightly less intimidating than stares because of a ridiculous amount of tight leather bandages. It was almost like camouflage, right?

Raven slipped her arm through his, keeping her cloak draped over her opposite arm. It could also double as something to lie down on and look up at the stars if she didn't need it for warmth, which, well, with a boyfriend who could radiate heat, didn't seem likely.

"There is a shuttle that will take us up the mountain," she said as she pulled her door closed. "Or I can teleport us there. Which do you prefer?"
