Agristi to Athens, Saturday morning

After a relaxing morning swim in your skipper's favorite bay, we'll set sail back to port in Athens for a few hours before we take the portal home!

Stark was going to miss warm water. And sunshine. And not being cold. He wasn't ready to go back but he supposed it was time. But for now he'd float a bit and try and soak up as much warmth as he could.

Did Illyana think it mildly hilarious that she'd been handwavily living aboard the 'Dionysus' all week, given that she tended to party hard when she let loose?

Yes, yes she did. Even if she'd been doing rather little sleeping in the space, using the boat as a 'porting hub to blink back-and-forth around the islands.

She...did not think she had even seen her roommate at any point? Which was a little weird, but Yana didn't think too hard about it. It wasn't like she'd been in the room a ton either, and Spring Break was for cutting a little loose.

So here she was, trying to stuff her shit back into her bags before having some last fun, since her side of the room looked rather like a tornado.

It had been an amazing comedy of errors/coincidences that apparently had kept Caleb from ever actually meeting his assigned roommate for the entire trip, though he had seen evidence of her existence.

He'd spent most of his boat time above decks, even at night, partly out of imagined courtesy. He had been afraid that his restlessness would disturb her.

But after a quick breakfast he came into the room to do his own packing and there she was. He assumed it was her anyway.

"Oh, hi there. You must be Miss Rasputin?"

"Illyana," she corrected automatically as she tried shoving stuff in her duffle, "--unless you're secretly Russian and prefer 'Nikolievna'--"

Yana looked up and blinked. Twice. "Huh. They really decided to pair up two Weird Magical Shit people as roommates, didn't they?"

Sorry, Caleb, you were getting Illyana's famous directness today.

“Miss Illyana,” he corrected himself, “Caleb Dooley, pleased to meet you. And, uh, I suppose they did.” He found he didn’t have to look to get that sense about her. Apparently living for so many years among folks who had been touched by the dark, or the feral green had given him a “weird-Dar” (though he wouldn’t know enough about modern technology to put it like that. Also her directly stating it like that.

“It’s that obvious?”

"I've been raised around magic since I was six," she replied, "--and I claimed the title of sorcerer at thirteen. So, probably not obvious to most people, but I'm not most people."

"Though this is Fandom, most of us are Weird in some way or another."

Illyana was, technically, an anthropology major at Fandom University. And as surprising as that may be to people, she was, actually, serious about that degree. Maybe not quite as serious as she was about her physics major, or her magic studies, but she was invested in doing the work.

Which is why people would find her in the museum today, walking the halls and taking notes on many of the exhibits.

"I've been gettin' that impression, yeah. I grew up with other youngins who all had some touch o' 'weird magic shit'." There was a slight, but discernable hesitation before he swore. "So runnin' into other folks like that shouldn't be a surprise. I guess I just somehow got th' idea that it was an isolated thing."

"It wasn't until I came to Fandom for high school that I ever met people my own age who had been touched by magic in some way," Illyana replied. "Not a lot of little kids running around Hell realms."

Bad for Yana's own social-emotional development, REALLY good for, well, all the other kids who weren't in Limbo.

"Those of us around here with magic rarely have the exact same magical types, if that makes sense. My magic is very different from Mistress Vess's magic, for example, but I seem to have some overlap with the weirdo librarian."
