Voavah Island, the Maldives [Tuesday Daytime]

The second day of vacation was upon all Fandomites currently in the Maldives, and what a glorious, sunny day it was!

Unless of course you preferred the great indoors, in which case what a glorious air-conditioned day in the shade it was.

Our days will revolve around the multi-story Beach House--where the students are staying--and the adjacent powder-white sands, crystal lagoon and vibrant reef, which are all exemplary even by the Maldives' standards. Laze in the shady open-air lounge. Dive into the pristine waters. Work out in the gym. Cool down in the library. Go for a beach wander across the five-acre island.

Students are sharing two-bedroom mezzanine suites ~~as we add floors to the beach house~~, with ocean views and an outdoor shower. (And an indoor shower, if outdoor showers aren't your thing.) Each bedroom comes with two twins beds (or one king, depending on which is funner). Teachers are located in the three-bedroom Beach Villa or the two bedroom Water Villa.

There's a morning breakfast buffet set up around the pool and a fleet of chefs eager to assist you in whatever food you're interested in having for lunch. You can even order up to your suites, or get the chefs to teach a cooking class!

Do you want to get all the spa treatments at the Oceans of Consciousness Spa? Do you want to do so while maybe not referring to it as the Oceans of Consciousness Spa? We understand that. The spa also offers mani/pedis and hair cuts.

Hit the gym, go to the library, get snacks in the kitchen, lounge in the lounge, swim in the pool.. Tell us where you are so we can join you.

Of course you want to go to the beach. It's all around you! Resident dolphins, turtles and rays visit Voavah’s lagoon daily, while green and hawksbill turtles nest nearby. There's a yoga class at sunrise (and then again at noon because vacation), but you can just grab a towel (and sunscreen) and enjoy the water all day. Someone will even bring you food!

Just what you want to do after watching Chompy Death From the Sea last night, right?

Okay, so it's snorkeling again, but this time for science. You want to help science!

Tell us where you are! No one has called dibs on the yacht yet, so first to post is first to have it.

Wheee.

Snorkeling was extra credit! Rey didn't know or care whether she was actually getting a grade in swim class, but she was pretty excited to try this anyway.

She'd invited her classmates, though she wasn't sure if anyone would show up. It'd be nice to all look like dorks in masks together.

Right. Treating himself. Jon could do this.

He walked into the spa and slid the menu over to himself. And read it. And frowned. "I-I just want a massage, not a philosophy. No energies, no lotion."

"So we are putting those things on and then going into the water?" Henry said, as he scuffed his toes against the sand and frowned.

Seemed a bit of a leap forward from the flailing about in the water he'd been managing...

"Sounds like. The masks and flippers even though I hate the flippers," Rey said. "They're awkward."

"I hate the bloody flippers," Henry said, pulling a face. "Can I try the mask thing first? Or do we have to use the flippers?"

"You could try going without. I think if you have to use the flippers, they'd correct you," Rey reasoned, putting her mask on.

And looking like a dork because absolutely zero people could look cool like this.

"Might as well try and see," Henry agreed. He took his own mask and pulled it over his face.

His nose was immediately horrendously squished and the plastic dug into his forehead. He shoved it back up.

"Is it meant to feel as if it's trying to squish my head?"

"Mine has a buckle to adjust it," she said. "Does yours have that?"

Because no, it should not feel like that.

Henry fumbled around with the back of it. "I think so?" he said. He shoved the mask back on (ow), then started fidgeting with the bloody buckle.

"Do you want help?" she asked.

Harley had heard something about extra credit, and... Okay, that wasn't really why she was there, because her days of caring about extra credit for a class were far behind her. But there she was! In a very on-brand bikini ~~because yes we're stealin' from the comics for once~~ (and yes, for anyone who'd been wondering: she really was that ghostly white all over) and grinning practically ear to ear, because anything worth doing on vacation was worth doing with way too much energy!

(Again, sorry to anyone who'd been there to watch the movie with her last night.)

"Okay, how's this all s'posed to work, then?"

Harley had arrived, could you tell? Bikini and blindingly pasty white skin and all!

"You made it!" Rey greeted her, smiling. "I wasn't sure anyone would show up."

No pressure, Lydia!

"For something that's on the beach?" Harley asked. "Please! This is a beach vacation, people've gotta show up to do things on the beach, it's the rule!"

Because there were definitely vacation rules, sure.
