Voavah Island, the Maldives [Evening]

The nice thing about this time of year in the Maldives was the weather. The less great part was that the stunning sunset happened before 6pm.

But the party didn't stop just because it got dark and ping notifications weren't going through! It's Lobster Night tonight!

HOTEL

Our days will revolve around the multi-story Beach House--where the students are staying--and the adjacent powder-white sands, crystal lagoon and vibrant reef, which are all exemplary even by the Maldives’ standards. Laze in the shady open-air lounge. Dive into the pristine waters. Work out in the gym. Cool down in the library. Go for a beach wander across the five-acre island.

ROOMS

Students are sharing two-bedroom mezzanine suites as we add floors to the beach house, with ocean views and an outdoor shower. (And an indoor shower, if outdoor showers aren't your thing.) Each bedroom comes with two twins beds (or one king, depending on which is funner). Teachers are located in the multi-story three-bedroom Beach Villa or the two bedroom Water Villa.

DINING

It's Lobster Night! Lobster dip! Lobster mac & cheese! All-you-can-eat lobsters! And salads and stuff for people who aren't into lobster. Put on a bib and take some selfies! After dinner, the DJ's back for dancing under the stars.

SPA

Do you want to get all the spa treatments at the Oceans of Consciousness Spa? Do you want to do so while not referring to it as the Oceans of Consciousness Spa? We understand that.

AROUND THE BEACH HOUSE

Hit the gym, go to the library, get snacks in the kitchen, lounge in the lounge, glare at the DJ for monopolizing the pool. Tell us where you are so we can join you.

There's a huge screen on the sand and comfy, giant beanbag chairs to sit in as you watch Jaws Chompy Death From the Sea. Snacks and drinks are also provided.

Tomorrow we'll be swimming with sharks, working with marine biologists to identify mantas, and going on an Around-the-World themed yacht party.

Sabine didn't care much about the lobster theme, but she wanted to people watch a bit, and she was into music. She got a drink and found a spot to stand off to the side and see what looked interesting.

Rey wasn't planning on staying long. She'd seen the movie before, but she thought it might be fun to see how they did movie night here.

So far she was not wholly impressed with the beanbag chairs, because she already knew getting out was going to be a challenge.
