Today was clearly the culmination of all of Eleanor's hard work,as she took her rented surfboard out into the water by herself that morning to put what she'd been learning to the test.

There was still a lot of room for improvement, but by the time she eventually fell onto the sand for a well-earned break, she was feeling incredibly confident and pleased about the whole endeavor.

Obviously, Ignis was not going to return home empty handed! Granted, whatever he grabbed would be accompanying them almost immediately to Argentina for Carnivale, but since they were staying for several days and there were fresh local ingredients available, he was going to make the most of it.

You know what? The half-assed chipped polish that Stewart usually wore could use a little bit of a glow-up, so, yeah. He was going to get that manicure before they left.

And if he was already there...

Summer had been beaching it up pretty consistently all week, so she figured her last swimsuit would get some attention poolside.

With a drink. Duh. But, like, something mimosa-y because that was practically breakfast, right?

Noctra still seemed pretty worn out from yesterday's ~~oh so handwavey~~ excursion out to neighboring island St. Lucia, which they had to go to at some point while they were down here to be all schmoopy about it having been where Liz and Prompto took their honeymoon. So just going down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast for the last day seemed like just the thing, especially since Prompto had a big day of repacking everything after a week with a two year old in a hotel room.

Stark hadn't seen that suit before he got to the pool.

It earned a very appreciative "Summer," when he found her poolside.

Followed by "I like this one best." Once he'd taken a moment to regain his powers of speech.

"Stark." If Summer's greeting back was meant to convey that she didn't know what could have possibly inspired that tone out of him, it was a bit spoiled by the hint of a pleased and smug smirk in her face. "Pretty sure I've heard that one already a few times this week..."

"I hadn't seen this one yet," Stark told her seriously. "This one is...I love this one. "

But of course Summer knew that already. She was very good at this game.

"We'll have to go somewhere warm again soon. So you can wear it again."

Or he'd just crank up the heat in his apartment tonight...

"I don't know, Stark," Summer said, shifting a little in case he patented to confirm how much he liked this one at a slightly different angle, "you know how much I hate just fucking off to someplace nice and warm and awesome."

"Mmmm," Stark agreed wordlessly, not taking his eye off her as she moved.

"I...we...yes. We'll find another beach somewhere. Or a pool all to ourselves. Both? Somewhere warm. Somewhere...awesome."

It was early yet to be considering what the end of April would mark for him, for them, but he was thinking of it but that was so long from now.

No. No. Nothing was happening at the end of April. That was impossible and clearly some big lie made up by the alleged passing of impossible time.

Summer oh-so-innocently, really, truly, took a moment to stretch out, arms over her head, arching her back, to, you know, get out the drowsiness of spending her morning in the sun with booze.

"In space," she added, "I think. I'm gonna find us a nice space beach."

Time was made up anyway, right? But there might, in fact, be a particular date that might mark a year since something happened.

He sat down then, a little heavily, on the chair to her right.

"Yes. Good. I would love to go to a space beach with you," Stark said. "Very much. Anywhere you like."

Lies. Lies and slander and propaganda and, again, most importantly, impossible.

"I'll try and find us a good spot, then," Summer decided. "In the meantime..." She shifted a little again to face Stark as they talked, "is there anything else you might want to do on this beach before we head back?"

But what if it was possible? What then?

"I'm happy to sit here by the pool with you," Stark said. "The view is very nice. And we can just...be warm. Until we have to go back."

"But we could eat before we go? Lunch. Outside."

Outdoor dining for the last time for a while, likely, since it was still winter. Alas.

Rey hadn't done beach yoga in forever, but she didn't want to take a class with other people. Instead she just got up super early so there weren't too many people around for it. Something to do before packing up.

Oh, you know, just thr usual for when something that was absolutely actually impossible became possible: crisis. Meltdown. Interdimensional distress.

Like, you know! NBD!

Summer hummed a little in agreement, reaching over to grab her phone, and, out of some sick curiosity or perhaps a sense of wanting to prepare herself, looked up the weather back at the island right now and looked somewhat pleasantly surprised.

"You know, actually? It doesn't look like it's all that bad back home," she reported. "Not like this, obvi, but no one's going to immediately freeze or whatever. But yes..."

Since she already had her phone out, she was already looking up options.

"Definitely need to grab some lunch somewhere."

An interdimensional vacation instead of interdimensional distress could work! Just as a possible option. Just a thought.

"Not freezing?" Stark said hopefully. "Good. I like that."

Sometimes it didn't take much to make him happy. "Maybe we won't need to go somewhere else right away. Not for a little while. For now...sunshine, and drinks, do you need another? And tropical food."

It almost never took much to make him happy, in Summer's experience.

"Oh, yeah, I'll take another drink if you're offering to get me one," said Summer, pretty happily herself, "and while you do that, I'll try to hone in on a good lunch spot."

The sort of happiness that wasn't fleeting took a bit more effort but even that was much easier to achieve than it used to be.

"Same drink?" Stark asked as he stood up. "Or something different?"

"Surprise me," Summer said, which, really, she felt like he should have expected. But, hey, you know what? She had to have to think about drinks all the time, she was allowed to make someone else do the thinking since she was still on vacay.

It probably wasn't much of a surprise but it was a local specialty and this being their last day here, Stark came back a few minutes later with two rum punches complete with pineapple wedges for garnish.

"It seemed like we ought to have these at least one more time," he said, holding out one of the glasses. "Cheers? Or is there something else we're supposed to say here instead of that?"

Liz had had a good day with Noctra and Prompto yesterday but when she had woken up that morning something felt wrong, she was trying to enjoy the food that morning but she seemed to have not much of an appetite.
