Jaina could see her lightsaber from here, but she knew in that second that there was no way she could get it before it was all over. Even if she could, the simple act of breathing hurt, and she didn't think she could move quickly enough for it to do any good.
So she did the only thing she could think to do, drawing on the Force not out of anger, but out of pure self-defense, hating every second of what she was doing, and reached out her hand, sending blue bolts of lightning into her brother.
