Viking Fjorgyn, Seine River Cruise, France [Friday Daytime]

After breakfast, disembark for a visit to Château de Malmaison, where Napoleon Bonaparte spent his final days in France. Along with the Tuileries, this elegant manor house, purchased by the emperor’s wife Josephine in 1799, served as the seat of Napoleon’s French government from 1800 to 1802. This afternoon, join an optional tour to the luxurious Palace of Versailles, former home of Louis XIV. This evening, you can take in the illuminated sights of Paris during a panoramic drive or blow us off and go exploring on your own before we take a very late portal back to Fandom. Just don't miss the portal!

The Fjorgyn, named for the Norse goddess of the Earth, is a 410 foot long ship built in 2020.

Visit the historic château where Napoleon Bonaparte spent his final days in France. Along with the Tuileries, this elegant manor house, purchased by the emperor’s wife, Josephine, in 1799, served as the seat of Napoleon’s French government from 1800 to 1802. After the couple’s divorce, she collected an annual pension of 5 million francs and kept the house, which she called home until her death in 1814. The emperor returned the following year after his defeat at Waterloo and received news of his exile to the island of Saint Helena. Admire the courtyards and see Josephine’s beloved music room and library. Visit her opulent chambers and salon, and view the emperor’s bedroom and the stunning mahogany décor of his study with its original furnishings. Enjoy free time here before returning to your ship.

Enjoy a day at the former home of French kings: the awe-inspiring Château de Versailles. The palace and its sprawling gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, began as a small hunting lodge. Over the years, it was enlarged by each of its three resident kings—most famously Louis XIV, the “Sun King.” A local guide will accompany you to the château, where you will marvel at the extravagance and excess of French royalty. See the state apartments of the king, the Hercules Drawing Room with its magnificent painted ceiling and the famed Hall of Mirrors—the glittering corridor of chandeliers and glass in which the Treaty of Versailles was signed, thus ending World War I. Learn about court life in the 18th century, and see the queen’s apartments and the chamber of Marie Antoinette. Later, there will be time to explore the vast, elaborate gardens.

Where are you? What are you doing? Did you get lost in the gardens of Versailles? Everyone does.

Students are in Veranda Staterooms on the Upper Deck, which have queen or twin sized beds ~~depending on which is funnier~~, wifi, televisions, and twice-daily housekeeping. This does NOT mean you can throw ragers. Again. Summer. The chaperones are in Veranda Suites, also on the Upper Deck, with queen or twin sized beds ~~depending on which is funnier~~, wifi, televisions, fully stocked minibars and free champagne and fruit platters daily. It is, after all, why they chaperone.

Located on the top of the ship, go on up there to get the best views of the passing scenery and to sunbathe if you really like being cold in October, you weirdo. There's also a walking path if you aren't getting enough exercise on all of the daily excursions.

If you're more interested in eating al fresco and not having a multi-course meal, the Aquavit Terrace is for you. There's no assigned seating and they have quick options for grab and go at breakfast like pastries, yogurt, and coffees.

Oh no, it's our last breakfast buffet! Located on the Middle Deck, the restaurant will serve as the hub for our meals throughout the cruise, assuming you aren't on shore. Each table seats six, and you've been assigned to one (over here). Make friends with your fellow Fandomites! Enjoy the breakfast buffet or order something off of the menu!

Connor was mostly recovered from the Wednesday night binge at the party. And it was the last day of the trip so he wanted to make the most of it. And he was looking forward to exploring the area and seeing who he might run into while out and about. Connor was definitely spending a lot of time in the garden area and maybe finding a little cafe or something to grab a bit to eat at too. It was going to be a good last day in France.

Ahh, now this was just the sort of opulence that Shunsui could always appreciate, and he was certainly going to enjoy admiring such a....humble château such as this one...

...and though the narrative suggested exploring the elaborate gardens, he was far more likely to merely find a good spot in which he might be able to nap in them.

Libby was glad to have finally gotten a good night's sleep thanks to talking to Kurt and then getting mindfully lost in exploring their last location yesterday so that she could better appreciate everything she was seeing today...especially that library. It had been a very long week, but, overall, a very good one, she felt, and the journey she'd taken hadn't just been one up and down the Seine, either. Wandering around through the past, she at least didn't feel so worried about the fact that she couldn't know as much about what might be waiting for her in the future.

And she was remembering, this time, to make sure to get lots and lots of pictures, too.

Stark's breakfasts at home in Fandom or at home on Moya were almost never large so he was going to take advantage of the last morning buffet on the ship. Sometimes you just needed a made to order French omelet in France.

And then some pastries to go with it.

Graham was definitely planning on making the most out of this final breakfast buffet, expanding his plate-filling expertise out to managing two plates loaded with enough food to really, really start to make people wonder if that cloak of holding also held consumed food, because how a guy who ate that much managed to still be a string bean was one of the great mysteries of life, truly.

To be fair, though, he wouldn't be eating all of it now. He was definitely saving some of it for later!

Had Beta actually gotten an omelet to order this time? Yes. Look, she'd decided she had to do it at least once before the trip was over.

And now she was going to sit at the table with said omelet and some nice fresh fruit and milk and reflect on this accomplishment.

Tahani's Instagram was on fire today. So many places to pose and duck lip! So much gold! So many mirrors! Tahani privately felt it might be a tad over the line into Too Much, but really, who could blame King Louis? When you got it, flaunt it.

Well, at least until the peasants revolt, etc., etc.

Distracting herself from flailing and feeling like a bad Maid of Honor by being in France the day before one of your bestie's weddings by going to fucking Versailles sounded like a pretty good idea to Summer, who was definitely taking plenty of pictures for both inspiration as well as internet validation, but honestly, she was just sort of looking forward to going shopping again once they hit up Paris before leaving.

"Having fun, Big Sis?" Charlie asked cheerfully.

Nell might just lose her mind in the gardens of Versaille! Everything was so beautiful!

This palace was overwhelming. Belle wasn't sure which way she ought to be looking.

It was too bad she didn't have any social media accounts to post photos to, unlike some people.

"I am," Libby confirmed, with a small smile and a nod, and a small laugh. "Trying not to ruin it by thinking it's almost over, though. How about you, Little Sis? Have you had a good week?"

She almost felt a little bad, all of a sudden, that she hadn't seen much of Charlie during the week, but, really, she'd been kind of in her own head a lot, she didn't really see much of a lot of people.

Well. For how perfectly at home Amaya felt at a lot of the other places they'd visited, it was only fair that she'd feel a bit like a sore thumb sticking out around this place. It was all pretty fascinating, though, definitely a few design details that she could still appreciate here and there, and, naturally, a hearty appreciation for those gardens, too, while she was at it.

If anything, it was a good distraction from wanting to give the potential future King of Daventry a good smack upside the back of his cap-wearing head for his clearly misguided interpretation of certain radio notes he may have had that morning.

Irene was back in much more familiar territory with Versailles, where she had of course been before (though she was much more familiar with the private interiors of other palaces, for good reason.) Bit over-the-top for her taste, honestly, but only just.

It was also entirely possible she was in a fantastic mood today, which actually had very little (though not nothing) to do with their return to Paris, and then Fandom, and nearly everything to do with how much she'd enjoyed herself the past couple of days.

The being-in-France part was actually mostly irrelevant, too.
