Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hütten, Tyrol, Austria [Tuesday Evening]

Another beautiful, clear, cold evening, perfect for walks in the snow, horse-drawn carriage rides in Fuegen, or sitting around the fire in your huts and bitching about the muscles you've pulled in your back from skiing.

We hear hot toddies help with that last thing, too.

There are four huts (well, huts that sleep eight and have saunas, living rooms, and fireplaces, so your definition of hut may vary), and everyone is paired up for sleeping (in rooms with either a double bed or bunk beds ~~depending on which is funnier to you~~, with shared living space for the eight of you to mingle, roast marshmallows, throwing raging parties involving schnapps, etc.

The restaurant offers both a weekly special menu (this week featuring venison and mushrooms) or an ala carte menu of traditional Austrian favorites, including noodles, schnitzels, roasted pork, and gulash soup. Make sure to save room for homemade apple strudel, too!

In addition to it serving food, the restaurant also has a cozy fireplace, a shelf full of books (many in German, but there's also a few regrettable sci-fi choices and some bodice rippers) and a fully stocked bar, so you are more than welcome to stay a while and chat with the rest of the Fandomites, or read and ignore people, if that's more your style.

It's cold, but you've gotten used to that, right? No? Well, there's cleared hiking paths heading to a spectacular view of the mountains and if you time it correctly, the sunset will take your breath away (if you breathe. It's not a strict requirement). They can even pack a picnic for you if you have someone to impress.

Once in Fügen, the après ski really sets off: whether under an umbrella or in the bars, skiers (and people pretending to be skiers) party, dance, and flirt for all they're worth. Later in the evening, the party moves into the many bars and clubs or one of the four discos. Tonight also features toboggan races by torchlight and night skiing.

If all the skiing is starting to get old, go check out Erlebnistherme Zillertal, a giant indoor swimming pool and general fun center.

God, I want to be cold right now.

After a quickish steam in the sauna, Steve changed into comfortable pants and a smedium t-shirt, and then rummaged through the kitchen for a quick snack.

Opening the cabinets offered him a huge variety of schnapps and snack foods. He didn't care that much about the schnapps, but soft pretzels seemed like an Austrian-ish thing, right?

"Anyone thirsty?" he called to the hut at large. "There are about ten different kinds in here."

"What've we got?" Kitty asked, coming over to look.

"Oh, this is a bad idea," Tony said, taking a bottle of the peppermint one just for himself.

"Pear, plum, cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, peppermint, a couple other I can't figure out...and Jägermeister. Don't drink that one," Steve advised with a grin.

"Probably," Steve agreed. "Want a glass for that or just a straw and strong aspirin?"

"At least my bed isn't far," Tony replied brightly.

"And on the bottom of the bunks, so that's handy," Steve added.

"I'm not in college, I don't need Jaeger in my life," she confirmed. "Do we have mixers?"

Asked the bartender.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Anakin said with a little smirk from the doorway. "Are we going to be responsible adults here or is this leading to drinking games where we bitch about our jobs and hating everything in the morning?"

"Now you see why I chose it." His cunning plan!

"I'll take whatever," Taako said. "It all tastes the same to me."

Literally.

"Dibs on the Jäger!" Oh, like anyone would fight that. "Are we having a party? Because I'm done with a hut party."

"I certainly hope so because I am so not the sipping cordial and talking about the weather type."

He was wearing a shirt that proclaimed him a 'rowdy boi', so... you know. Clearly.

"You can share the Jäger with me!" You lucked out hard with that curse, Taako.

"Sure, why not," Taako said. "Maybe it'll help me get the image of you in your tighty whities out of my mind."

So gross.

Hannibal had bought a few good bottles of wine last night, and charmed them out of some ingredients, and now he was hijacking the hut's small kitchen to make food, sipping wine and humming as he worked.

Hey, you vacation your way, he'd vacation his.
