Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hütten, Tyrol, Austria [Monday, daytime]

Good morning Fandom High students, teachers, and assorted guests! Ready to hit the slopes? The answer had better be 'yes', because that's what was happening today whether you liked it or not. Once your lesson was done, of course, you were free to do as you wished, whether that was continue hurtling down a mountain at ridiculous speeds while strapped to long sticks, or go warm up with some delicious hot beverages.

"It's beautiful," Steve wheedled.

"Do I get spiked cocoa out of the deal?" This was important.

"Not before 10," Steve said.

Which was in about 4 hours. Steven.

"How long of a hike is this going to be?" And did Tony need to bring a GPS for when they inevitably got lost?

"Couple miles," Steve said with an eager smile. "It'll be fun."

It'll be something.

"I'm packing food and you're carrying it," Tony replied, downing the remainder of his coffee sludge. "Maybe the resort will supply a thermos."

Of life giving coffee.

"I'm sure we can get a bag of some kind," Steve said. "Do they still do K Rations?"

Now he was mostly messing with Tony.

Tony chucked his pillow at Steve for that, carefully setting his empty cup to the side. "I'm doing this out of the kindness of my heart."

"And the health of it," Steve said earnestly, nodding.

"And to keep you company while you bound around like a deer in the snow." Deer did that, right? He wasn't a biologist, okay?

"Do deer do that?" Steve wondered. "Not a lot of them in Brooklyn."

Peridot did a little bit more of that shuffle-pacing, and then, making up her mind, nodded.

"Willing," she echoed. "And hopefully able."

What could possibly go wrong on the beginner slope, right?

"There might be now," Tony replied. "I know they've reintroduced hawks to the city."

Which was a fact he enjoyed.

Steve grinned, honestly excited too. "Really?"

"Something has to take care of the pigeon population." Which might take a few decades to get under control, honestly. "Hey, think we'll see anything out there?"

"If we're quiet, I bet we could," Steve said. "Now are you excited about going?"

"I better get to see a deer," Tony said with a sigh. Only then did he abandon his blanket to see what the warmest clothing he packed was. It was still expensive and stylish, at least. "Next vacation better be to a beach somewhere."

"Yes, dear," Steve teased, reaching for his jeans.

How he found jeans with a crease in them was unknown but to God.

Tony gave far too much thought into if they could accidentally make it into a fireplace without raising suspicion before being forced to dismiss the idea.

"Dear," Tony repeated to himself, getting dressed quickly. "Or deer."

God, he was a nerd. This is what you were hitching your wagon to, Steve.

Jason had even (mostly) paid attention to their instructor! So he was... mostly... confident that this would turn out okay.

He pushed off down the hill, and yeah, things seemed to be more or less going well. So far. Of course, there wasn't much of a slope or obstacles to speak of just yet, so perhaps that wasn't saying much.

Steve thought that joke was delightful, which said nothing great about Steve's sense of humor either.

"You need more coffee," he said fondly.

At least Steve had the excuse of being an old man.

"At least two more cups," Tony agreed. "We can't all be morning people."

Peridot hesitated for a moment, and then shrugged and took off down the hill right behind him, almost too studiously following the instructions they'd been given during their lesson. Keep the skis parallel in order to go faster, point toes together to slow down, lean in order to steer...

This would likely go much more smoothly if she was paying attention to more than simply her feet, perhaps.

Jason, meanwhile, was feeling like he totally had a handle on this, so he could definitely speed up, right?

... Too bad he zigged when he should have zagged, because he was now no longer actually on the beginner's trail. Oops. Not that he'd figured out as much yet.

Well, if Jason was going to zig, Peridot, who managed to glance up just in time to see where he'd gone and to take note of very little else, was going to follow right along. So far, so good, at the very least. She had things like slowing down under control!

Not that she'd seen any reason to do so yet. They were in this for those experimental thrills, after all.

... Was it just her or was the terrain getting a little more bumpy, though?
