Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hütten, Tyrol, Austria [early Saturday evening]

After a relatively eventless Portalocity transfer (the land entirely made of pumpkin spice might have unnecessary, but very festive), the students and teachers of Fandom arrived in beautiful, lightly snowy Tyrol, Austria and their accommodations for the week: the Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hütten.

The whole resort had been rented out for the Fandom folks, so you have the entire run of the area. There's plenty of time to explore (and get your first taste of yummy Austrian food) before the slopes open for us tomorrow!

The restaurant offers both a weekly special menu (this week featuring venison and mushrooms) or an ala carte menu of traditional Austrian favorites, including noodles, schnitzels, roasted pork, and gulash soup. Make sure to save room for homemade apple strudel, too!

In addition to it serving food, the restaurant also has a cozy fireplace and a fully stocked bar, so you are more than welcome to stay a while and chat with the rest of the Fandomites.

Anyway, there's evening snowshoeing, hiking and a short toboggan run to play on tonight.

There are four huts (well, huts that sleep eight and have saunas, living rooms, and fireplaces, so your definition of hut may vary), and everyone is paired up for sleeping (in rooms with either a double bed or bunk beds depending on which is funnier to you, with shared living space for the eight of you to mingle, roast marshmallows, throwing raging parties involving schnapps, etc. Don't let the parties get too loud. Teachers, we're looking at you.
